Easy man! I'm just back from gym, because having been told it shut at six a few weeks back, it now shuts at four!! Who knows, I might actually get in tomorrow!!
Cheers, if I were fresh it would've been nice to go for mid to high 400 but at least I shouldn't be too broken for Monday.

That sucks!
I once took my preworkout to find out the gym wasn't open at all because of a holiday. I didn't check their insta to see that laugh
Early morning for you then and go have some fun!

Been back at work since Monday, feeling ok although I sometimes get sweaty, achey moments out of nowhere and for no apparent reason. Its a strange old thing. Example. Took dogs for decent 30 minute walk the other day, including some steep hills, no issues. Last night got out of breath and sore chest walking up my stairs! Mrs still suffering the worst out of us, but we all give thanks that we have has such a mild strain in comparison to many! I'm returning to gym today...the words weak and kitten will be doubtless be applied which at just under 18st is rather embarrassing. Thanks for your thoughts, stay well and healthy all!!
There aren’t meaningful differences between strains. Your immune system just won the battle (which is the case for almost everyone). I would try not to worry about it.
Is that true? I am not arguing, only asking. My assumption had been that the relatively healthy doctors, nurses and NHS workers that had died had contacted very strong infections because of the amount of the airborne droplets in their work environment. I know it isn't as simple as this, but say I have picked it up from a dumbell in the gym that one infected person, or a similar folder or book in my work, surely I am picking up much less of the virus than someone working in a 'virus heavy' environment? That is, to use that dreadful cliche, only bioscience and I stand in hope of being corrected by those more knowledgeable. Your comment about individual immune systems, for example makes perfect sense.
The difference would be viral load

So more 'virus ' in the atmosphere equals more virus in the recipient and a heavier illness?

Yeah that's right. So if you touched a barbell with it you would get a bit of Covid but if you came into contact with 10 coughing people or slept next to someone with it you would get a lot more.

Glad you are recovering well and fingers crossed shifting the big weights again soon!

That was my thinking. Thanks, although I am, I think, finished with the big numbers!!

Well made it in, simple session as am trying to keep my workouts in the same area each time to minimise infection chances. Leg press up to 330kg two sets 10, 10s all the way up from 80kg so few sets. Smith machine squats which I worked up to only 50kg per side in sets of 6 but had to stop because shoulders were screaming getting under bar. Will go back to free squats see if I can get comfier. Hip/pelvic thrusts with Olympic bar, only 60kg with shoulders on middle 'jump box'. Two tens, weird, uncomfortable excercise, wondering about just doing it from floor. Want to build core up after such a long layoff. Three sets 30 leg crunches for abs and done. Feel ok.

40 minutes of press ups/pull ups, then straight into the sea, crazy wave height made it loads of fun. then 45 minutes on the turbo, feeling a nice tired.

I’m still going with my high-rep squats. I managed 85kg x 21 on Sunday.
This week will be an easy weak of bodyweight exercises as a deload.

Bench day of 5x5 today

Managed to complete the 5 sets of 5 reps on the squats and bench, wasn't happy with my form on the landmine rows so will go again with the same weight in 4 days.

Added in 3 sets of incline bench 8 reps and a set of pause bench at 60% 1RM for fun.

Disappointingly I haven't weighed myself in a couple of months and 7kg down even though strength is still going up weekly. Must eat more.

Edit to add: Tried using a weight belt tonight, What a difference. Completed my sets easily and could have gone another 5-10kg heavier I think. Had no idea they were such a help.

Done waiting for normality to return and being a slob. Invested in a 16kg kettlebell and did a short work out today consisting of swings, cleans, get ups, squats and presses.

Going to keep it simple and increase volume in everything until I reach 10x20 swings, then invest in a 24kg and do the same. Should keep me busy well into the new year. Will do a 4 day split alternating between Swings and gets ups one day, squats, cleans and presses on another followed by a rest day (M,T,T,F work days).

Looking forward to every muscle in my body aching tomorrow morning after almost a year of inactivity smile

Small independant gym?

What's the reason? Covid f*ckery?

Nope, it was a DW, bought over by Everlast or some company trading as Fitness Direct or something, just before they were allowed to reopen. It has been dead since so kinda guessed writing on the wall! I suspect it will eventually be sold off again and reopen but I will find another place in meantime. There is a council gym ten minutes walk from my house which may fit the bill... Gonna kick start the cardio, buy some cosy gear for night runs and weekend cycles. Gotta do something!!

Second session with a weight belt tonight, 2.5kg extra on the bar and shifted it easily every set. 5kg up this week on squats almost feels like cheating.

Rounded out with 5x5 Overhead press, Deadlifts and some close grip bench.

Kettlebell swings 32kg x 100
Feet elevated ring rows x 50
Ring press ups x 50

All done in an EMOM circuit

Pull ups are out due to elbow pain. Dips are out due to sternum pain. Squats and jumping rope are out due to knee pain. So that's my main three movements out for the foreseeable. Getting old sucks! Got a new weighted vest turning up tomorow though to keep things interesting.

Well done!

Some Olympic bumper plates will make it a bit easier on your back also as the bar will be a little higher off the ground.

Unfortunately not the time to be upgrading as gear is so expensive with some serious price scalping going on.

Nice. Looks like you will need some Olympic stuff very soon then!

As a side note if you are looking to upgrade let me know about the sale of your existing set up. Looking to get some weights for my nephew and that lot would keep him going for years!
