Thinking of running a GVT programme again, but 10 sets of 5 as outlined here https://www.t-nation.com/advanced-german-volume-tr... . I ran the ten tens last year and found it got me fitter quickly but at the expense of overall strength, thinking the 5 rep range might be a good compromise. Thoughts?
If you want to get stronger, focus on strength. If you want to increase fitness, focus on that. You can do both over the course of a week- but trying to do them in the same session is detrimental to both aims.Edited by biggbn on Monday 3rd May 20:27

It’s complete fking bullst.
But, I wanna train so I’m trying to get the vaccine sorted. I never had/needed a Dr out here in 3 years but I need to be with one to get this st done, so it’s not straight forward.
I then need to wait for the second dose and a plastic ‘Protected’ status card...

Yesterday I went to the gym. Was busy AF and all racks were taken. I pissed about for an hour (bench press, leg press, squats) then tried to snatch. Really annoying as I wanted to do this first. Anyway I smacked my head on the bar, got embarrassed at myself and walked out.
Today I will train from home. I am finding the crowds in the gym are very distracting and my lifts feel rushed.

Ignore everyone else, that's my tactic, has been for years. Unless I need a spot, or am observing gym etiquette, other gym users do not exist!Today I will train from home. I am finding the crowds in the gym are very distracting and my lifts feel rushed.

Totally I always do this but my heart rate was spiking and I couldn't relax at all between lifts. I will need to give my bros a shout and get over this as if I cant lift with a crowd then I'm a useless oly lifter :P Bit of a bizarre question, but here goes.
I've started on the weights again after pretty much a year off. Yesterday I was doing overhead press. Not heavy as I'm feeble. 27.5kg in sets of 10.
While doing it I could feel a 'pinging' in my arms. Best way I can describe it. No pain, just a strange sensation a bit like a guitar string twang. Is this normal? Is it just everything stretching out after doing nothing?

Could be tendon or ligament or anything frankly! if you have had time off from lifting take the first few weeks building up real slow.I've started on the weights again after pretty much a year off. Yesterday I was doing overhead press. Not heavy as I'm feeble. 27.5kg in sets of 10.

Experiment (carefully!) and see if you can work out what triggers it. Go slow, go fast, go light, go heavy - you should hopefully pick up a pattern. Unless it happens regardless?
