What training are you doing/have you done today? (Vol.3)

I did 40 mins treadmill this morning, work is mega busy this week so didn't get much time after work again.
But I managed to get in, my thoughts are something is better than nothing
Pull, all supersets
Incline situps into pull-ups into dB hammer curl x 3
Iso row into dB rear delts x 2
Shrugs into rope crunches x 2

Good deads session.
Starting with a bit of tennis elbow, probably from all the axle work. Nothing serious but want to get ahead of it. Coach recommended a cryoball and will be programming in some rehab exercises.
Currently eating cream of rice for the first time ever. Last one in the shop was Biscoff flavour which I absolutely hate but it's not too bad.

Anyone got any tips for sore palms where your fingers meet your palms? Particularly the joints of at the base of the finger?
I have slowly been progressing up to more weight the last 6 months and started to suffer from quite painful joints.
Some sort of gloves? My grip is fine - so its not wrist straps I am after.
Its worse with free weights as I can feel the harsh metal bar digging in. On the machines the slight padding helps.

Dan will be along shortly to give his opinion on gloves... I have slowly been progressing up to more weight the last 6 months and started to suffer from quite painful joints.

I wear an old pair of builders gloves on the mornings my gym is around zero degrees or less, but because my hands get so bloody numb. I'm not sure what would cause pain in the area you describe and not sure if gloves would help...biggbn said:

I've had this issue a few times; mainly caused by when I was lifting heavy and using a lot of open handed grip to fatigue/train it etcI have slowly been progressing up to more weight the last 6 months and started to suffer from quite painful joints.

What I did find helped was olive oil on the hands and then massaging of the area using my thumbs. Hurts like hell, but it worked.
Wondering if it was ligament strain or similar
Maybe try and change where you have the bar in your hands too, see if that eases the pain a bit etc

Went to have a look at Next Level gym today here in Preston (literally 5mins from my doorstep when traffics quiet)
In all honesty it's an amazing set up and I will be joining; hoping to get there later this week; yesterday and today haven't been good days - thinking I'll go around 0715 in the morning; 15mins on the walker and 30mins training and that'll be me done
The equipment looks to be excellent; dumbbells up to 75kg and a superb, specific leg room too, which for me means I'll be able to isolate my legs and hopefully not be in too much pain, more so seeing as I cannot squat or deadlift
Dan, this is fantastic news. 75kg dumbells!! I'd love a go with them for single arm rows...and I'd have loved a go for incline press back in the day!! Enjoy brother man, take care. I only ever pressed the 75kg dumbbells once; managed a few reps and that was it... I was never the biggest presser...

It's a fantastic gym, best equipment I've ever used. Did you see the retro corner with the old Nautilus stuff? Wish it was closer to home for me, I'd be in everyday.
It's a bit like Reps was for me, that's why I trained mid afternoon, no traffic at that time etc so easy enough to get to...
But this is literally on the doorstep; so looking forward to getting at it again
Last night chest and tri's session.....
Rope face pulls - 2 x 15
Incline chest press machine - 3 x 12
Flat bench DB press - 4 x 10
Seated triceps pushdown machine - 4 x 15
Standing cable crossovers - 4 x 15
Body weight dips - 3 x 10
Preacher curl machine - 8/8/15
PT wants to reduce my sessions to 4 times per week and implement carb loading on training days. Knee-jerk reaction to less gym time was a bit meh but I know it makes sense...At least now I'll have more time for BJJ.... I'll be in tonight for the first time since mid December, the break has done my ribs a world of good so all being well I'll through tonight's session without a flare up.

I know you will but listen to them. I only lift 3 times per week and I'm stronger than I've ever been* and no immediate signs of stopping. And that's with losing about a kilo per week for a couple of months. - okay, I've definitely lost a bit of overhead strength but it's coming back.

Besides, I'll have more time to progress on the mats as the gym has always come first on that front so it's all good.
How close to 90kg are you aiming for leading up to the event, assuming you will have some sort of weight buffer?...Would be a real pisser to come in just over!
Post a link to the event so I can have a nose and keep tabs

Honestly mate I don't know, I'll just be eating/doing what I'm told to eat/do. I don't know if there'll be a mini water cut or what. I've asked where I should be the days before weigh-in and he just said "you should be relaxed and not worrying about what the scales say", total enigma. Weigh-in is 24 hrs beforehand so I'll have plenty time to fuel up. There's no buffer but if I miss weight bit there's another weigh-in session later that day. Obviously that would not be ideal.
If you wanna keep tabs the scores will be on strengthresults.com or if you're reaaaaally keen it's being streamed on strongpass.ie for the princely sum of €10.

It was ok today, but its weird my fingers (not all at once) can go purple down the sides if I lift heavy almost like a blood vessel burst.
Think I might have to see the GP as I also feel like one of my fingers is kind of twisting when my hand is just doing nothing.
Today, no swim as the sea is huge so early gym before work, pull up session, first was wide grip of the cambered bar, wow real humblers, 7 sets of 12 had me proper pumped, then 4 sets of full stack pull downs followed by 6 sets of weighted finger tip pull ups, knackered, then back to the gym this evening with my wife, brutal chest session, plate loaded chest press, now up to 7 reps with 3 plates ether side, then weighted dips with 45kg 2 sets of 5, sore.

Went to gym 5am...it was closed!! Guy has been having issues with his roof so likely 'flooded' after yesterday's deluge. Will go to gym after I finish work, nice to have the option there..
Had that happen to me once when I used to train very early.Got up, big double scoop of pre workout, got to gym at 4.15 for a lady to jump out of her car (scared the life out of me) and tell me gym was closed due to power cut.
Pre workout kicked in and I was wired for 2 hours until I got to work ......
