A bad week, not as much exercise as I'd have liked due to work commitments and our Wedding Anniversary night out.

Frankly, I'll take that, the day after eating all the guff you do on a long flight/travel day.

I did have a nasty reality check on holiday though. I though I'd done quite well to get to 74 and was well on my way to un-tubbiness. A quick review of the poolside photos reveal I am deluded. 100% dad-bod. Extra effort required. No change in Q1 target for me, as this will take some time, but my goal in terms of target weight has shifted significantly. What I may have to do is consider weight versus measurements, because a single number doesn't really tell the story sometimes, and I am doing more weights this year than last. What I do know is over 70 kg is overweight on my frame. I had set my "alert" at 75kg before. That's way too high.

Happy with the slow exit of all the lumpy bits. I even got in to my suit last week. The suit is 5 1/2 years old and has been worn about four times. However, I certainly didn't need a belt.

Not much movement for myself (0.2kg down) but the last few days haven't been great as I have been out for dinner twice and started drinking again, unfortunately making up for lost time which obviously isn't the way to go about introducing it back into my diet. Will scale it back to just weekends and see how it effects the weight loss.

101.6 kg

No weight change for 2 weeks but clothes are hanging and belt is on notches never used before.

Increased evening bike ride to 10 miles and have renewed membership at a gym close to work so a cardio session each morning in relative warmth for next couple of months.

Had a look at new bikes at the weekend , mine in comparison weighs in like a concrete slab. Flat bar hybrid/racer self-reward if I meet my summer goal.

But you'll get more exercise on a heavier bike for the same distance/time.
All you are doing by buying a new lighter bike is making yourself spend more time for the same benefit.

Unfortunately extrapolating my idea - if you lose weight and go cycling the same applies, so you should put on weight to improve your exercise.

Oh, hang on........ biggrin

So far so good, started at 104.6 start of Jan, now down to 98.4kg.
It’s 36C where I am so the heat is probably helping, managing around 50k a week on the treadmill too and it’s starting to get easier. Goal is to be 89.9 start of April. (Home from Ops).

That is exactly my viewpoint after thinking it over about my current 13kg Boardman MX Sport hybrid.
I put far more effort in that those whizzing past me on 8kg road bikes, plus I can take it off road.

Had a weekend in London along with a few days off for half term, amazingly stayed static, so obviously walked enough to compensate.

Just weighed in again after a week back to business

02/01/2018 14st 5lbs 91.17 kg
09/01/2018 14st 2lbs 89.81 kg
16/01/2018 14st 0lbs 88.90 kg
23/01/2018 13st 12lbs 88.00 kg
30/01/2018 13st 10.5lbs 87.32 kg
06/02/2018 13st 9lbs 86.64 kg
13/02/2018 13st 9 lbs 86.64 kg
19/02/2018 13st 6.5 lbs - 85.68 kg

So very nearly at my first stone - 5.5 kg gone.

Everything crossed i'll be back into the 12s by mid-March

Only a small loss this week; probably to do with my body re-sorting itself after the mayhem-diet in the USA. Still, a little progress.

Jan: 1/1 - 94.0kg, 8/1 - 93.1kg, 15/1 - 92.4kg, 22/1 - 90.6kg, 29/1- 91.1kg.

Feb: 05/2 – 90.7kg, 12/2 – 90.8kg, 19/2 – 90.8kg.

Almost static for three weeks - undoubtedly due to a return to bad eating habits and more frequent visits to the pub. To be honest I'm glad it hasn't gone up significantly.

Been ill for 2 weeks with a cold and now a cough I can’t shift, which has meant I’ve eaten much less than normal.

On the back of that, I’ve lost.... a pound. Brilliant.

Immediate target is 40 days from now, off on hols. Realistically, I'd like to be 74 kg by then. Anything under that's a win.

End of Q goal a more realistic 72 kg.
So this was my opening post. I got to 73.6 kg before my holidays, but photos revealed that sub 74 was not the svelte athlete's body I thought it was... maybe BMI has some merit then, since 74 kg is my threshold for normal and tubby...

So, long term aim is to reside in the 60's. Not the low 60's, but it's clear to me that above 70 kg is not a healthy weight for me to be at. The gut wobble gives that away... so the end of Q stretch goal is 69.9 kg. Doable by eating really, really well. All comes down to personal discipline and how much I want it. We'll see.

No weight loss this week, but no gain either. But the wife and I did go out for an anniversary meal, with beers followed by wine when we got home (my first alcoholic drink in over a month) and a day in London last Thursday which included a meal at lunchtime and a McDonald's before the train home. Happy to stay the same weight really!

Well done on your target. That is some going in six weeks.

I'm guessing you're under six feet tall.
