I had the flu jab f.o.c. as I'm in an 'at risk' group. There are two vaccines available for adults; one of which protects against three strains of virus, the other protects against four strains of virus. Which you receive is up to local purchasing i.e. which one your GP orders stock of in March.

The sneezing is killing me the most. Making my stomach and chest sore. Anyone know how to curb it?

Put a handkerchief over your mouth and nose, try to contain/muffle some of the explosion. I found that with coughing once, that felt like it was red hot razor wire ripping parts of my throat out with it every time.

Well after a week of misery, today was the first day of feeling something approaching human. Still not well at all but several days of 40 deg temperatures and feeling like death create a useful contrast for what proper ill feels like compared to man flu. Got lots of sleep this week so at least the bags have gone!

Good luck Wormus, I’ve been on a training course today, 5am start and not home yet. Struggling through but very much looking forward to getting home to a nice warm bed. I don’t want anything else at the moment but to curl up and sleep.

It does seem to have been a strong one this year, few normally quite resilient people I know have been a proper mess.

So far I've survived, had a few dry throats or coughs but nothing had taken hold yet.

Off on holiday in a week or so, I imagine that's when it'll strike hehe

I felt it come over me on Saturday night, just could feel the heat and illness, very odd. Woke up on Sunday feeling like death, then Monday got the “I’m wearing every item of clothing I own and I’m still frozen” stage. Then came the sweats. Then the shivers again. Everything aches, but the headache is the worst, short jabbing pain. Went to the doc for that, diagnosed flu and gave me tablets for the headache. Cough is moving towards my chest at the moment and I suspect I’ll lose my voice soon. On the upside, have def had the moneys worth from Netflix this month (apart from the ones I’ve fallen asleep though - which has been most of them!). Doc recommended just taking paracetamol and not lemsip as the paracetamol dosage is too low in it although I’ve not checked. Stepsils cough and sore throat tablets are a godsend too.

Haven’t felt this rough in years, it’s been blooming agony. Def getting the jab next time round. My brother took two weeks to get past his and he still has the chest infection, so suspect it might hang around a while as well.

Currently dying.

Was fine Friday morning. Felt a bit cold during the day. Got to lunch time and I'd not warmed up but otherwise felt ok. 3 hours later, dead on my feet. By the time I got home (and a 45 minute drive in an abarth is not the thing you need at that point in time), shaking uncontrollably. Get in to bed, heated blanket on. Woke up later bathed in sweat.

Currently out on the sofa, gone through a box of tissues, farting like a trooper, shivering, Shallow breathing because my chest has a sharp pain inside it. Utterly defeated by it. Supposed to be flying to Austria on Thursday!!

Not even had so much as a cold in about 3 years and last time I was this bad it was over 15 years also. Missed out on playing crystal maze today as well!!

You have my sympathies, hope you feel better soon.

Just over a week ago now since I caught it and other than an annoying cough and no taste for beer, I’d say I’m mostly well enough. Sleep is the key.

Yeah, week in here now. The cough is brutal, real chest beater with thick, horrid tasting stuff. Have spent pretty much all week in bed, slept tons yesterday as well. Can’t taste anything yet either!

Been lucky so far but did catch the one in 2012 and that was horrible, off work for Xmas and 2 weeks, then took a couple of months to feel normal again.

The worst bit was the coughing, boy that hurt.

Hope everyone feels better soon.

It's unusual for me to be down this long but things are finally starting to look up. I did end up seeing my GP just to rule out anything serious and she prescribed antibiotics as my chesty cough seems to be a chest infection that's come on from the flu. Haven't taken em though and hope I don't need to.

This is the worse I've felt in a while, my chest feels sore when I cough or sneeze, migraine, shivering, there was me thinking I had avoided it.

Well into my first week and nothing appears to be improving. My teeth were hurting this morning! I've booked an appointment with my GP this afternoon. I suspect I've ended up with a bacterial throat and or chest infection.

It's been many years since I've had anything this bad.

I've binge watched both seasons of the Grand Tour on Amazon Prime. A bit meh but you can drop off to sleep and it just keeps playing. I've now found a crap series about a New York A and E Doctor working in the Hamptons. It's so crap, it's strangely compelling.
