For a few years now I've found myself tensing my legs and stomach whilst asleep. The kind of act you might make yourself when you wake and stretch. I also regularly get cramp in my legs and feet, which I'm guessing is often caused by the tensing. Anyone experience anything like this?
I can't believe this is the reason but I did wonder if it's a subconscious thing to do with a serious car crash I was in 12 years ago. I don't appear bothered about the crash, but I wondered whether it can be relived while asleep.

Drinking enough?

When I’ve been working on my feet a lot and not drank much I get similar.

That's an interesting thought. On an average day I'll drink about four mugs of coffee and a glass of wine. Any other fluids will only be in my food.
That actually doesn't sound like much does it? I'm just not a thirsty person!

I would agree with the above to check out first I have a physical job outside and even at this time of year it’s amazing how dehydrated I get it’s my legs I have issues with at night if I’ve not drunk enough.

+1 on dehydration. Also check potassium (I think) intake or just eat the odd banana. May be talking bollix but I'm sure I read it somewhere. Works for me anyway. Sure fire way of knowing I'm dehydrated is the feeling in my legs.

What colour is your wee and do you ever have a dry mouth?

I’m in the armed forces and after a few days of little water and working hard in the field I start cramping up in my sleeping bag!

Try not to cross your feet/legs as that also restricts your blood flow causing them to go numb.

Possible magnesium deficiency.

If you only drink coffee and wine then you’re dehydrated.

This. I used to get cramp every night until I started taking ZMA tablets before bed. Never happens now.

Get a blood test.

Potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron, vitamin B, etc.

Don't delay.

I find that I wake up doing this as well. It is not a cramp thing, It is as if I am flexing the muscles in both legs like I am posing 💪

That's it. It's like you're stamping on the brakes, which is why I wondered originally whether it was connected to my big crash 12 years ago!

I'll start by trying to drink more water and checking out which foods contain the magnesium etc.

I would say on an average day I'd be fair-dehydrated on that chart.
