Frustratingly slow progress for me trying to lose this final stone but just surpassed a third of the way there. 4 kg left to go!

Checking in again!

95.8kg this morning, again somewhat frustratingly I was 95.4 yesterday but that doesn’t count!

Hopefully I’ll be at my 95kg goal next week, which puts me well over a month ahead of when I aimed to be there!

Are you stopping at 95kg? I see you're the same height as me according to the table, so still overweight by some margin. Using the NHS BMI calculator as a yardstick (which I know is full of caveats, ifs and buts and doesn't take muscle mass into account), 77kg is the mid point in the 'healthy weight' band.

Not stopping there, it’s just the goal I set myself on day one. Had to set a target and 95kg is just under 15 stone, which seemed like a pretty good point to aim for starting from 18 stone 4.

The BMI calculators say my max weight should be 88kg, it’s just that ‘under 14 stone’ seemed absolutely ridiculous to aim for at the start!

Being ‘healthy’ on the BMI scale would be great and I hope to be there before the end of the year.

All goals seem daunting when you first start. I honestly didn't think I'd stick at it. Your 20kg thus far is just as impressive. Imagine 10x 2 litre bottles of water in a Bag for Life and the weight to carry those - it's pretty damned heavy and you don't want to be carrying it for longer than you have to - that's how much you've lost smile .

I did a quick calculation on your figures and you've lost an average of 0.08826 kg per day since you started. There are 135 days left in the year so if you continue at the same rate you should expect to lose 11.9 kg by the end of the year which would put you at 83.9 kg. But the progress rate slows with the more you lose from my own experience so high 80s are more likely. I think you should see your target of 88 kg !

Haven’t participated in the PH losers thread for a couple of years but just checking in to say that from my starting point of 95kg / 183cm in 2014 I plateaued at 80kg for quite a while until I started 16/8 ‘intermittent fasting’ and that’s helped me get back into a downward trajectory, currently 78kg.

Yes, IF and longer fasting has contributed to a large portion of my weight loss but I just can't get back into doing ADF and longer now, even though I found it easy to get in to and stick at before. Every time I try, the hunger pangs get the better of me by the evening and I have to eat something, anything. I find that eating something which I'm not a great fan of keeps me on track with the weight loss progress. For me this is either a tin of sardines or red salmon. They're both filling enough to stave off the hunger pangs for the rest of the day but they're not the sort of taste and texture that has me running to the cupboard for a second tin. On my 'other' days I'll have a plateful of belly pork, loin steaks or chicken/legs/wings/breast usually with some broccoli and Lurpak and/or mayo.

Bizarrely I lose more weight on the scales on the days after having the big meals than I do after just having a tin of sardines/salmon all day wobble . My body seems to 'work' best at shedding weight when I'm constantly confusing it by mixing up the foods and eating patterns. If I stick to the same sort of stuff and the same eating windows I end up stalling.

Really struggling to diet so switched tactics and joined the gym, basically in a month really focused and getting there. Yes cardio mostly over weights as I enjoy it more but can feel clothes looser over weight loss, which even though lost some, still levelled out..

I prefer to eat/drink what i want and just burn it off.

I actually end up eating better and less as a byproduct. I'm nearly 40 so never too late.

Progress in just under 4 weeks, when I started I couldn't do more than 30 mins on xtrainer.

My steps total was well down this week at around 50,000 but I still lost four pounds as I kept watch on what I was eating. Still had a couple of things I shouldn't but if I don't, then I shall lose interest.

That's 12.1kg off in seven weeks. Being so big to start with has obviously helped those numbers, will be interesting to see how I react when I have a week where I don't lose or (shudder), put a pound or two on.

This shifting the weight isnt easy, congratulations to all those able to keep it going.

I managed to lose about a kg a week all of June, nothing in July, just half a kg in August, but I can feel the clothes are looser and look like they fit better, just need to keep going.

One thing im struggling with is the gut/waist, most exercise im doing (cross trainer, bike, running, swimming) seems to help me lose everywhere else but the gut isnt shifting as quick as I would like, I will just have to keep at it but I do have a free 30 min annual session with one of the trainers next week so im hoping he can suggest something.

Just popping by to see what's what and good to see progress being made - well done.

I'm still at 65kg, where I have been now since May, I think, can't remember - but the point being, I've maintained for several months now having lost a lot and continued sports mean I can and do eat a lot but don't put on weight anymore.

Fitness-wise, I've really gotten into my Mountain Biking this year and discovered Strava in the last month or so - taken 7 KOM's, all Hill Climbs, in the last 3 weeks. I've dropped gym and walk less, focussing only upon my cycling, 5 days a week. So less activity time-wise, but higher intensity than when I was losing weight in the first 4 months of the year.

Life is so much better as a fit, slim person. Wish I'd done this 15 years sooner - or just not allowed myself to get fat!

So, I’m down from 174 to 158kg and feel like I’ve not really started. I still can’t motivate myself to go the the gym or keep to a proper diet.

I currently eat what I want though I’ve stopped processed foods, but still have a bottle of coke and a chocolate bar everyday.

But I don’t eat after 6pm and I’m only allowed one snack between lunch and dinner and one between breakfast and lunch

So I've not been on here for a while...however still plodding on!

Bit of a blip when I started my new job. Went from being active delivering food all day to sitting in a office for 40 hours a week.

But free gym and work often let us finish early to use the gym and get paid! Result.

Diet suffered a bit as I was used to being able to eat a fair bit when at my old job, but getting there with it now. Taking meals to reheat rather than stopping at Tesco.

Seen a massive improvement on my fitness as well. My running in particular. I've gone from being out of breath after a 30 second run to running 10 minutes non stop.

Currently running three times a week (1.5 miles at the moment in around 18 minites). Going to add some weight training in from next week twice a week as well.

Got a fitness test in around ten weeks and I want to smash my last attempt (passed but want to improve), want to get to at least level 8 on the bleep test.

Managed 6 last time.

Weight has hovered annoying, but over the moon with the fitness side of things smile.

You can't spot target fat loss; your body doesn't work like that. Your belly fat is the last place to 'go' from what I've read. Overall I'm now quite slim at just under 12 stone at 6'2 but I still have a tyre to shift from around my belly. You're over 15 stone and shorter than me so I don't wish to piss on your chips or dampen your spirits but I reckon you've got a very long journey ahead if that's your goal frown .

Under 95kg this morning, a whole month earlier than I’d aimed for!

Worked hard for it this week though, I ran 4.2k on Sunday, 10k on Tuesday (beating my previous time by 13 minutes!), 3.2k on Thursday, did a quick 11k bike ride on Friday and a total of 42k on my bike yesterday.

Next target is another stone, which will put me under 14!

Never ventured onto this section of the forum before, I've also never been noted for my healthy lifestyle. frown

This changed when I had my first heart attack in April (Good Friday), closely followed by my second. I was rushed into hospital and fitted with a stent to my LAD artery, which basically saved my life and, whilst lying in a hospital bed being hooked up to all sorts of monitors and things, gave me time to reflect on my general behaviour.

I'm in my mid 60s and have smoked over 20 a day since my early teens, so over 40 years. This has now completely stopped, not even had a drag of one since. Yes I miss them but a glass of iced water is the go to substitute nowadays. I still have a pack of cigs and have put my NHS wristband by them to remind me.

I also realised that I was extremely overweight, hence the reason for this post. I was over 100Kg which, at 5'9" was excessive, especially as I was getting little or no exercise living a sedentary lifestyle due to semi retirement. I've always been "well built" as I did a lot of sports and workouts in my youth but that was an awful long time ago and had spread to the usual places. I decided that I was going to try to drop around 20Kg which, whilst not bring me to an ideal weight or BMI, will certainly make me feel better and should be a good start.

I started with my new regime about a month or so after my stent was fitted, taking it very easy at first. The diet was easy and I'm still following it to the best of my abilities. Basically I cut down on quantity rather than quality, substituting white bread for wholemeal and having less sugar in drinks. I've swapped snacks out for fruit as well. As for the exercise I started gently with a walk or two round the block which tired me. Eventually, and after a lot of perseverance, I graduated to all the way round the estate and ultimately beyond. I'm currently on around 10,000 steps/day, which is around 7.5Km. This tires me a bit so I tend to have the odd rest day which I feel are well deserved.

Since I started in earnest, probably mid May - early June, I've managed to lose 10.9Kg, bringing me down to 90.3. Whilst not being ideal I'm happy with how it's going and am going to carry on as long as I can.

Sorry to have rambled, just nice to speak about it really as I've hardly told anyone. smile

If you're a white male that is just a fact of life I think, we tend to carry our fat around our waists. There is no way to target your stomach fat either.

I am slim but still carry more fat on my stomach than I would like. It's frustrating.
