If I don't get myself to bed before 1030pm, preferably 10pm, I'll break some sort of barrier and stay awake until 2am/3am.

Most nights my sleep is interrupted, by what? I have no idea but it's rare to ever sleep through.

If I could get 6 hours of decent sleep I'd be so happy, and probably be in a better mood.
Probably your bed - how old is your mattress and is it a properly-decent one?

Most nights I used to wake several times, turn over and then drop off again. I recently bought a new bed from John Ryan by Design (after reading many good things on here and lots of research elsewhere) and I've had it a month - I've already noticed that I sleep through most nights now and wake up without any aches/pains and feel a lot more refreshed. I was hesitant with the amount (£2.2k) but it's been one of the best chunks of cash I've spent in a while.

The only time I've woken up during the night in the last few weeks is on a few rare occasions to go for a piss around 5am - no amount of "new bed" will solve that one!

Bought a John Ryan mattress about 2 years ago thanks to PH hehe

It's brilliant.

Yeah! It does tend to be that needing to pee situation, which I stupidly ignore and hope the urge goes away. Will I ever learn.

I also appear to be a light sleeper as I have got older.

Rules the bed out then...! Love mine too.

Can't help with the bladder unfortunately... hehe

3-6 hours, depending on the baby. Always interrupted sleep, though.

Started a new contract this week (yesterday in fact).

Crawl out of bed at 5.50am, it used to be around 6.30am in previous contract.

Shattered! Crazy how much of impact 30mins fewer has in me.

I think I need to try and get to bed for bang on 10.30-11.00

On the nights i work, i will try and catch a minimum of 5 hours. On my days off i will go to bed at around 8pm and sleep until morning.
I think it works out. My kids are serious early risers and not old enough to leave by themselves (are they ever?) So that has an impact.
I will catch naps here and there for an hour which helps if i'm feeling tired.
My wife thinks i over sleep

I spent over 10 years facing a 150 mile each-way commute for work, so got by on just about 5 hours sleep a night. During this time i was a miserable fker to live with...

Nowadays i get between 6-8 hours, largely depending on a variety of factors, one of which is whether any of our cats decide they need attention during the night...

I do know, however, that regularly (once every 4-6 weeks) i will "crash" and sleep 10,12 even 14 hours in one hit. When that happens i find that i am enormously refreshed and happy afterwards smile

Between 7-8 hours during the week. Either much less or a little more over the weekend.

Research suggests you're more likely to remember your dreams if you wake frequently during sleep. However, definitions of decent sleep can vary. If I woke every morning after 3 hours sleep but had amazing dreams I'd call it decent.

You'd like to spend less time in bed and work more? You animal biggrin

I feel at my best if I get at least 7 but preferably 8 hours. If I get less than 6 then it's probably worth avoiding me as I'm a horrible grumpy sod.

I haven't slept properly in decades.

Sometimes I can stay awake and alert and drive stupid long distances ,other times I stay in bed half the day drifting

in and out of sleep.

Anyone interested in their sleep and how it might impact their health would do very well to listen to this fascinating podcast where Joe Rogan speaks with Matthew Walker, Professor of Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, and Founder and Director of the Center for Human Sleep Science.

When I’m working offshore I am on 24hr cover and only get around 5 hours if sleep per night for 30 days straight or until we adandon the pipe due to poor weather. At home I can sleep for 10hrs plus and my wife enjoys a lie in as well.
My dog can sleep the clock around the lazy git! (Good when my wife and I both want a lie in)
My sleeping habits haven’t changed much since I’ve turned 40, and I have an excellent mattress on my bed with decent pillows which helps...

Anywhere between 4-8 hours. I find it hard to switch off in the evenings. I’ll happily, although only every so often, watch a few episodes of something or be on the Xbox till 1am, not thinking of the consequences of the 05:30 alarm.

I’m shattered, all of the time. All of it. I get home from work and just collapse in a heap on the sofa most days!

Try sleeping with brown noise through speaker/headphones or a fan running.

I struggle with anxiety and my partner is 15 weeks pregnant and I go to bed shattered but my mind wonders thinking about everything possible so I've only been averaging around 4 hours last few weeks. It's a real struggle frown

I usually get to sleep after an hour or so but awake again 2/3am then it's impossible to drift off again.
