Good to see you all here, it really does help to know that others are in the same boat and we're all willing each other to succeed!

You’ve lost more than a bag of cement. Don’t reset anything. Leave it as a reminder of what you’re capable of doing. Well done thumbup
Cheers fella, it's very motivational to see the results so I think I'll do the rolling total with the start date set to August.

I’m in again but I hope not to be as active as last year. I think I’m going to cut down to weighing every two weeks, rather than weekly.

I start the year on 85.5kg (down from 116.1 this time last year... anyone who needs a bit of encouragement, this thread works wonders!)

My aim is 79kg, I don’t want to be any lower than that really but I do want to lose the roll of fat around my belly which doesn’t seem to want to go away.

Thank you again to anyone who contributed to the thread last year, having other people doing something similar is more helpful than I could have imagined
Rob, I think you should do the same as me - track your overall success since you started? Your achievement last year was amazing (30kg loss!!); you're a huge inspiration mate and I've no doubt you'll hit your 79kg goal.

I’m in! Weighed in at 78kg this morning, aiming to get down to around 74 and build some muscle mass too. My main focus is to lose the gut, all my excess weight seems to live on my front which is annoying to say the least.

A bit of background. I’ve been overweight since my early 20s due to years of takeaways and no exercise. 5 years ago I got off my arse and managed to go from 85kg down to 74 in around 6 months from a combination of diet changes and exercise. Sadly that didn’t last and I went back to my old ways.

At the start of August 2019 I weighed in at 84kg. I got back into a occasional gym routine (cardio) and did some basic meal prep. I’m using MFP again and trying to keep below 1500 calories a day. I’ve managed to shift 6kg so far despite not being that healthy for the past 2 months.

I work a 9-5 and my issue recently seems to be finding the motivation to head out to the gym on an evening when it’s cold and miserable outside.

I’m 32 and I’m finding it harder to shift weight now than I did 5 years ago!

I'm the same. I have to cycle to my gym, and i'm not keen on cycling anymore in sub 10'c weather. I guess it's important to put in the time now (especially while it's cold) as it will still give you a headstart for when it's spring/summer. you could be down 10kg by the time spring comes round, a good head start.

I’m in! I am 33 years old, 5’9” and more than likely weigh around 17.5st. I’ll weigh myself tomorrow morning when I have access to some scales.

I used to be fit, then gained weight (17.5st), then lost 4.5st ... and now I’ve gained it again over the last 4 years! I’ll be cycling as much as possible to help lose the weight.

I love mountain biking. I bought a new bike last January and covered some decent miles over the first 3 months, but a new job curbed my free time and I just ... stopped. frown

Now seems like a good time to try again; I’m tired of carrying the extra weight and feeling chunky ...

Good luck folks. I did/am doing really well on slimming world, my sticker collection now includes "man of the year" although there's not exactly much male competition in the group. I didn't turn up for 'Mr Sleek' week as was a theme developing! One of the girls who joined at the same time of me is now a 'consultant' but I think it's almost pyramid-esque as a format.

Can I just say please support everyone losing weight, whichever way. I got some stick last year for stuffing spuds and pasta (& how!!) on slimming world and doing reasonably well; the keto guys didn't seem to accept it was possible.

I'm back in from the previous thread, I never really went away or stopped doing things, just don't post a lot recently.

I'm still walking most days and getting around 5 miles in most mornings, this morning was remarkably quiet on my usual route at 06:30. Weight has fluctuated a bit over the last week or so but I'm pleased that I managed to keep it under the 80Kg which was my aim over the festivities. I'm pleased that I'm now nearly 4 stones down from where I started, or around 24Kg, but still need a bit more off to reach my ultimate target. In reality I need to drop down another waist size yet which will hopefully put me from a 40", which I started out at back in June, to a 34. I'm currently wearing 36" but now need a belt with them at all times. Jackets are now down from 46" to 42" and look and fit a lot better now. It's costing a few quid in clothes but the British Heart Foundation are hopefully benefiting from my barely worn old ones. For those who aren't aware of my postings on last year's thread, the reason for the BHF as a charity is that it was a heart attack and very quick trip to hospital back in April which got me into this regime and they were extremely helpful.

Incidentally, I emphasise with the guys mentioning the mid-section flabbiness but it will hopefully go eventually and without specifically targeted exercise, just perseverance with the diets. It does tend to hang about for a while though. frown

I've been thinking about adding daily walking to my commute. But I really do not have the patience. I get the bus from the tube station, takes 10-15min. its 2 miles distance. To walk takes 40minutes...its just walking for that amount of time (even with music) is so boring.

Podcasts are good apparently, a few celebrity types have cited these as something to take away the tedium of walking.

I just tend to vary my routes and am lucky enough to live near a nature trail so there's always something new to look at, though not much at the moment as it's still pretty dark when I set off. The walking has really improved my stamina and my breathing and I've found myself actively searching hills out to increase the pulse rate and get a bit of a sweat on. Not bad for a mid-sixties wreck I suppose. biggrin

I’m in.

Want to lose 2 stone and get properly back in shape.
Walking the dog has helped but poor diet and a love of soft drinks hasn’t helped.

My gf quit smoking last year, so this year I need to quit the soft drinks which is a big ask as I love Irn Bru.

Have a 12.5k run on 16th February. I haven’t ran a organised race in 11 years and I did a 10k in 51 minutes. But I was 21 then.. hehe

More running, quit soft drinks and better diet.

In. Currently weigh 12.7 stone, heaviest I've ever been and feel fat as fook around my stomach.

First attempt today - couch to 5k day 1. Got back aching like hell and sat filling my face with chocolate and biscuits!

I’m in. Hopefully I’ll remember to keep this updated too...

103kgs- used to be 93 this time last year, job change from waiter to an office job- and then not exercising was my fault.

A few weeks back got an exercise bike and saw me lose 2.5kgs. Going skiing tomorrow so that will be the official start of my exercise/weight loss program.

Truth be told I’ve always carried timber and I hate running... so actually, I set myself a goal to run a half marathon in October. I guess I’ve always been a bit jealous of those who can run long distances and make it seem... enjoyable. (SWMBO says that a marathon is too much... she knows me well enough to know that I over commit and is actually scared I will do myself a mischief in over training/straining and end up in hospital... still secretly...)... luckily I live in Austria, so I have some beautiful lakes to run around... but... it’s really cold here until March time, so that gives me 7 months to prepare (between now and March will be the exercise bike, skiing and weights...)

I’m in.

5ft10 and approx 94kg. I want to get to 80kg.

Two years ago I was running ten miles four times a week. I got down from approx 95kg to around 82kg and was training for last years London Marathon when I hurt my right ankle. I stupidly tried to ignore it and ended up damaging my left knee from trying to compensate for the ankle! I carried over my LM entry to this year but have really struggled with exercise in general. Putting all the weight back on has then made things harder due to the extra weight on my knee causing me pain when I run, however I’m going to see how I go and make a decision much nearer the time on whether to go ahead with the marathon.

I won’t be near a set of scales until Saturday so I’ll do my official weigh in on Saturday morning and update this.

Good luck to everyone else that’s hoping to lose weight.

I'm doing Slimming World too so you won't hear any discouragement from me on that front - in fact I'd say it's been instrumental in helping me lose the weight I have whilst keeping things balanced and varied. The Syns are the bit that give you the leeway to have a bit of something bad each day but within reason.

However, it's not just about that really, I've found SW has gradually shaped my choices toward healthier options overall; for example, I can have a 100g bar of Toblerone a day (26 Syns) if I want to and indeed there are a couple in the fridge as I type. However, they've been there nearly a week now and I often find myself preferring to choose something like 0% fat greek yoghurt with some blueberries, bananas, grapes or raspberries chucked in with a small drizzle of honey instead. A bar of Toblerone wouldn't usually have even made it as far as the fridge in the 'old days'! biggrin

By the way - if anyone hasn't yet added themselves to the Wiki, the link is here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Shout (or post the details here) if you need any help with the formatting and I'll add you in.

Starting off at 104 kg, I don't know what that is in old money but it needs to go. I've had a hip replaced and general poor health over the last two years, leading to massive weight gain. I normally weighed in at 80kg and it rarely fluctuated.
The hard work starts first thing in the morning.

I join in on this. Was on last years one but met my partner in April and as she's a chef, what I ate went through the roof. started 2019 on 100.7 kg, and weighed in this morning at 110! Partner has been warned to lose weight so she's going to help me by doing it too.

Broke out the cycling turbo trainer tonight and I'm planning to cycle to work at least once a week when the clocks change, a 33 mile round trip.

Onboard.

6"1' and 99.5kg, up from 90.4kg/16% bf two years ago through too much booze and a lack of consistent training.

I'm aiming to get back there again by Easter. The dream is 85kg by the end of the year but I always seem to plateaux at 90kg. So if I don't make 85kg, then I'll be happy at 90kg plus more lean muscle and lower %bf.

In Goggins I trust to see me through biggrinhttps://www.instagram.com/p/B6Wla9jF9vX/

It’s a 5 minute drive for me so I really should stop bhing about it! Managed to get there this evening for an hour of cardio which consisted of 30 mins on the cross trainer, 20 mins on a spin bike and 10 mins of slow paced walking. Burnt 600 calories which is decent enough for the first day of the year. Had guests over for lunch but managed to keep it fairly restrained with my eating.
