Logbook, engine number and VIN plates would be a good start.

The Mk 1 RS models incorporated a Type 49 bodyshell.

Easy to spot are the additional strengthening plates over the front shock absorber mountings on the Type 49, plus the rear shocks were near vertical (as opposed to angled). To be fair though, those are very easy modifications which could be made to any non-RS shell.

With the amount of money you are likely looking to spend on a Mk1 RS2000, and if there's any doubt whatsoever, you really need to do some proper research. The Avo Owners Club is a great source of information, as well as providing some useful contact numbers.

In that case, I’d walk away.

Doesn't sound like the behaviour of someone who is genuine.

I'd have no issue with proving I had the funds to buy, but this would be by showing him a [heavily] redacted bank statement. No way would I be rocking up with a bag full of cash.

You're not talking about a bank transfer - you're talking about proving you have the funds.

Once you're happy with the vehicle, you can arrange a cash transaction.

Are you referring to a specific car, as standard they came with a single carb.
