I had it eight years ago. It took about 8-10 weeks to be mostly normal again, and a year for the slight lopsidedness to go away.

Your blink reflex is going to be ruined for a while, so be really careful with your eyes. I'm 6'5" so I had to be very careful of tree branches, and even so I managed to scratch my cornea one day. I'd recommend a baseball cap and/or glasses!

Any problems with your hearing or a blocked ear? If so you should mention it...
None that I've noticed, and they checked my hearing at the hospital when I first went in..
That's good to know smile

I had exactly the opposite problem. Far from losing my hearing in the affected ear, it became unable to attenuate very loud sounds. A normal ear protects itself from damage to an extent by a mechanism that somehow turns down the volume, but mine didn't and at a theatre where loud music was played I had to put my finger in my ear to protect it!

Progress, of sorts.
My mate came round and immediately noticed the improvement, which is good.
Blink reflex is improving, although my right eye won't squint against the sun, so I've had to invest in a baseball cap and wear sunglasses much more often. Still over-watering...
I can do small smiles, but not big ones
The right side of my forehead has started to move a bit when trying to raise eyebrows.
Eating and drinking getting easier, slowly.
MRI done, awaiting results. Damn. they're LOUD.

Update, just because, and to help anyone else that gets it in the future

90-95% back to normal.
Got my 'normal' facial expressions back, bar the extreme ones.
Eating and drinking back to normal. Blink reflex not quite there. I only notice because right eye still over-waters.
MRI done, still not had result yet...

Good to hear, sounds like you recovered in the same timeframe as my mother.

I had it back when I was at uni in 2005.

It wasn't much fun, left hand side of my mouth wouldn't move. Fortunately it didn't affect my eye.

Must have been relatively minor as it cleared up within a few weeks on its own accord. Left with permanent damage though - my smile is crooked unless it's an actual smile (which is a bit of a tell unfortunately!).

I've still got the crooked smile too!

I think I've also still got a bit of a crooked smile, mine took about 2 weeks until it started going back to normal.

Think the worst bit was drinking, or trying to sleep.

Because of my Bell's crooked smile I'm a miserable sod that never smiles in photographs.
