Oh yes, that's a brilliant idea. The amount of time that just vanishes playing computer games is scary. I stopped playing them years ago for that reason. Doesn't need to be a First Person Shooter with mega graphics.

Looking at the old stuff, a favourite of mine was the "Total War" series which was deeply frustrating to get good at without really loading modern hardware much. Trying to remember the others now - Close Combat rings a bell. Then there's the MMPORPGs ...

Steady on now it's not that desperate yet! smile I've a gaming laptop that's getting on a bit with dozens of games off Steam but for some reason I'm just not feeling anymore, hard to describe. Must be an age thing (41).

Now they decided to send me home I'm not considered quarantining. Couldn't get the hotel to understand that, came damn close to a meltdown when they insisted I went back to my room when I tried to go to the pool area for a few quiet drinks and a read of my book. Took so much effort not to blow up and I'm not an easy person to wind up.

Sent an email that was pretty much a cry for help to the agent to get me out of here, there were a few emails from the HR folk at work asking if was okay so it must have read pretty desperate.
I'm now in another hotel, not as nice, but I get to read my book with a beer on the roof balcony and feel more normal for a few days before I fly home.

Still no one to talk to but will try and make the most of it before back to the UK and quarantine again.

And yes 8" to the right that glass can drop 150' to the floor. TIA.

Well although you have been through a lot of crap, a beer and a book would be pretty awesome. I thought some quarantines let you out for exercise? Has there been none of that?

I was surprised when I heard the ones in London were complaining about short smoking breaks. There is nothing here, 4 walls for 2 weeks. Will see what happens when I get there.

I have friends who quarantined in paris who were allowed into car park and he was able to do a little run.

That would be nice.

A year ago I never thought I'd be commenting on how great it would be to be allowed outside to do a bit of a run. Especially as a normal law abiding, contributing member of society. No wonder it messes with people's head, this whole situation.

LTB? Is that where they rent a house instead of buying one to let out? I just had a quick look myself as your piqued my interest, but the number of acronyms made it feel like being in the military! I did enjoy the "how much should he spend on an engagement ring" thread though, as the posters tried to passive-aggressively boast about how much their husbands earned.

After what you've had to endure the past days, that's an all-time great photo for the "Drinking a beer, enjoying the view" thread in The Lounge! What's the Angolan beer like? Probably a stupid question since, after being cooped up for so long, it's probably like mana from heaven.

That glass looks like it was nicked out of Len Fairclough's hands whilst he was down the Rovers Return.

That beer looks heavenly! Shame about the circumstances though obviously. The glass is perfect.

Bloody hell uggers. Your last month or so would have finished me off I’m pretty sure, used to think I was mentally strong but the last year has made me realise how easy it can be to start having problems between your ears. Really hope you get home ok and get to enjoy life as much as we can currently.

I’ve been happier lately. I’m putting this down to a few reasons, I’ve completely cut out any kind of news or government updates etc, I’m walking every day it isn’t pissing down, settled into the mind set of one day at a time, I’m deliberately not making any long term plans for summer or whatever at the moment as it makes me feel worse as it reminds me of what We’ve missed. Basically trying to keep myself out of any situations that I know will negatively affect me, not always easy. Can’t express how much I’m looking forward to summer and hopefully spending some quality time with family and mates.

Hope everyone is coping and if I can help anyone at all it would be a pleasure.

You should just do that generally.

If it's really important and is outside your normal sphere of concerns then someone else with time to waste watching it all will probably tell you any way.

This, and whatever you believe about what is going on right now, the MSM are out there to provoke emotion and get more clicks / sales. Good news doesn't sell papers, and the more hysteria they can whip up, the better.

I only check it once every month to see what rules I am currently breaking, started to lose count late last year and I am not doing anything special to do so...

Pffft so near but so far. Still a month to go!!

Fed up of being at home 24/7. Can't be arsed to do anything. Noticed my moobs are turning into bh tits.

Roll on April 12th for a bit more variation in my life that hopefully perk me up a bit and get back to get into a more normal work/gym/social/relax routine.

One upside is the last 2 days I'm in a considerably better hotel whilst delayed, food is better too but eating out of silver foil trays is bringing me down slowly each day.
Could you not order some crockery online and wash it yourself?

Next thing I need to do is address the alcohol. Some of you probably already know its been a bit of a weakness of mine for quite some time, but I'm unhappy with the way things are going. Not happy with how I look, being a good 3 stone overweight. Not happy with feeling ste all the time. I feel like it's a good time to do this with the upcoming job hunt. I need to be on top form, but I need to do this permanently. I've had 20 years of heavy drinking so I feel if I don't do it now I never will. Lockdown hasn't helped, I had a handle on it before but now I think it's time to start reversing that damage.

Monday to Thursday will be booze free and at the weekend I'm going to try and drink more mindfully rather than just sinking as much wine and beer as it takes to fall unconscious.

I also want to work on my fitness. I am basically now having to assume I'm virtually rock bottom now on that score. So daily walking, a few weights and a once a week session of 10 minutes of as close to flat out as I can manage is on the cards.

I'm not going down without a fight!

Just what worked for me - don't do both at once. I gave up alcohol for 6 months - back drinking now but with moderation and if it gets out of hand again will be giving up for good.

I gave up alcohol first, gave it a couple of weeks to get psychologically and physiologically over that, then I slowly started to bring in exercise. Worked very well until I buggered my left knee running but that's another problem hehe

Life is stressful at the moment, try not to make too many major changes or you may lose heart to do it. Small gradual changes will make a massive difference at the end and acknowledging it as you have is the first, and most difficult step.

Yeah I agree, I know I need to do it in stages, and the alcohol is taking priority as this is the most pressing concern, and the most damaging habit. Monday to Thursday will be the first step however I acknowledge that if I manage that then I cannot drink the same way of a weekend as I'll just make myself bad again. I need to break out of the cycle of spending my first 2 days of the week feeling awful. I need to stop the daily heartburn. I need to feel mentally better again and it's going to be impossible to achieve without cutting it down.

I hear you with the exercise but don't worry I'll be starting slow, I really should be walking daily in any event. Its not too much of an ask. The weights I'll probably need to start slowly and work up again but then I only have a set of dumb bells so I'm not going to be Arnold any time soon laugh I will take it from there when I have the basics nailed down.

Well 20 minutes until the second group consultation at work so I'll have a clearer idea of whether anything has changed but deep down I know it won't have.

I am looking to start using dumbbells, can you please suggest a weight I should start with? I am looking to tone and general wellbeing rather than getting big arms.
