Well I'm coming to the end of my present calorie intake regime and I have succeeded in making it to the target weight I set myself around Christmas time.

I now weigh 80kg, or 12st 8.4lb in old money, having eaten and drunk an average of 992 kcal/day over the period. I have not drunk alcohol since late October 2020. My daily exercise has consisted of 3 minutes on the rowing machine and not much else to be fair. My excuse is that I'm old but now fairly healthy so exercise is to keep me supple rather than use calories.

I decided to start the weight loss programme on June 1st 2018, which was our fiftieth wedding anniversary and I've reduced my weight by a total of 38kg over the period since. To put that in perspective, I think of it as having uneccessarily carried around two holiday suitcases all the time. I've never been fitter and lighter since I worked in Saudi Arabia in the early eighties. My clothes now fit nicely and I feel good.

I think that joining this thread a couple of years ago has definitely helped me keep on track and I thank you all for your comments, encouragement and stories along the way.

So what to do now ? I'm tempted to set a new target of 12 stones (my weight was constant at 11.5st when I was a lad) but I think it's more realistic to up the calorie intake a bit, maybe even have the odd glass of wine, and see what happens whilst monitoring the weight for a few weeks. Now that the better weather is here I shall be doing a bit more exercise outside so we'll see how it goes.

In the meantime for those of you still on the journey, I would encourage you to stick at it guys ... it really is worth it and it feels great when you get there.

Well done Ratattak

Have been following your progress because we had similar 2021 starting point and target, although I think I've had more fun than you (992cal wtf!) smile I've been through 3 sizes of jeans over the last 6 months so I'm astonished you are still in the same clothes!

I'm too, close to my 12st target (3.3 off this morning) and wondering whether to set it lower.

Well been an interesting journey,. so far...

182.3 kg was my start weight, the weight loss story was a bit of a mix in terms of effort. Did a few programs, the sachets, and scottish slimmers etc... but the weight yo yo'd

the reason - shifts I worked shifts. proper shifts early late and nights and opretty much worked shifts for around 15 years or so.

Shifts mess up your life and muck up your weight if you let them. And of course a sedentary job doenst help much either does it.

182.3 kg in old speak is 28.7 stones.

I weighed in this week at 124 kg... thats 19 and a half stone.so a loss of 9.2 stones or 58.7 kg

I started in earnest with the weight loss after changing jobs. Fact was i realised I needed to lose weight for myself, and also for the role that i was going to be doing I needed to ensure that i was at the weight that they wanted me to be for a capability reason. I have to work at height from time to time and also 28.7 stone was way too heavy. I want to reach 15 or 16 stone and will do but im now below the weight limit for work so Im happy.

How ?

simple.

Eat less than what you use. And exercise to get that fat burning...

exercise using a rowing machine and a bike, no need to be in pain but using these was the key, and eating properly.

First week since attaining target and I've consumed an average of 1050 kCal/day. Let's see if I can tread water at that intake weight-wise. I've decided I'm fairly happy at 80kg and 34" waist.

Late joiner here. Been in a bit of denial, but hit a PB weight of 89kg a few weeks back, which for my height is a BMI of over 30. I'm not a massive fan of BMI in general, but any way you cut it, 5'8 and nearly 90kg is either a pro rugby player or a tubby bugger.

So, I'm going to use MFP - which has been a foundation of all my other successful weight loss periods. Tracking what I eat is critical to being accountable. I'm somehow able to trick myself into thinking just this bit of cake, pizza, takeaway etc. will be OK. It isn't. My tight jeans bear this out. I'm willing to concede I've done more weights in the last 18 months, so could reasonable accept a few extra kg, but I have to lose some fat, so here goes.

My goals are all consistency based - six days from seven I will track what I eat, Monday to Sunday. The aim is to have seven good days, but I can choose not to worry on one day, preferably at the weekend which gives a bit of flexibility for meals out, unexpected biscuits etc. Striving for a perfect 7/7 almost always ends in failure.

Exercise-wise, I aim to do strength training 3x per week, with a view to getting a streak of weeks with 3 session complete. My best is two weeks so far, interrupted by an Easter holiday. The clock has reset. I shan't bore folks with it yet, but I want to get back to running, so my goal for the end of the year is to be running 3x per week too, after each strength session. Right now I have myriad niggles and issues. This causes significant mental anguish.

Anyway, here I am. I'll go back and read the thread to catch up, then post up my progress.

Gyms reopened but I’ve lost all my motivation. Hasn’t helped that work is picking up and I’ve smashed out the overtime this month with nearly 70 hours extra (some planned, some not).

I’m going to continue eating well and then look at going to the gym next week.

I'm 50 and 5ft10. Last August I was 113kg.
I weighed in at the gym today on their funky body scanner @ 98kg.
I've lost more than 15kg, in reality, due to increased muscle mass. I had reduced to 104 in November, but then gained again to 110 over Christmas as the gym and pool was closed, and I gorged on wine and cheese. frown

My target is ~88kg and being back in 42R suits with ease.
(I'm already comfortably back in my 44R suits.)

I added myself to the wiki today. smile

Weigh in day today now 109Kg so 11.2 kg lost since Jan 1. So very happy bunny. BMI now 35.5 so going down, that will keep the AME happy(ier) when I have my class 2 medical next week for doing my PPL. The CAA get excited about people with BMIs above 35 apparently!

I'm struggling with motivation too. Three sessions since last Monday, I'll be honest the first one near killed me with DOMS - took 5 days before I could move properly again.

I'll get there, just slowly. What's annoying is that I think I should be finding this easier now, not harder. Still, the first step to getting there is actually turning up so I've got that going for me at least.

Have rejoined the thread for the second time this year hehe

Struggled with motivation over the past few months leading me to a near-highest ever weight of 23 stone 2 pounds. Walking works for me as I don't really get on with gyms, bikes or swimming but feeling better for restarting again on my birthday last Saturday. Have done a couple of miles of walking per day since then, early mornings suits best.

I'd like to lose a third of my body weight (49kg in total) and have set an ambitious target of a year to do it in. That said, if I could get down 35-40kg by then, I'd snap your hand off. Just fed up of everything being an effort, ie getting out of my armchair in instalments, making a noise every time I sit down, that sort of thing.

Great to see some inspiring folk still posting on here, one in particular goes by the name of Funk. Keep going Sir, you've done so well and you can smash this. thumbup

I might check in here for a while if that's OK.

Have yo-yo'd between 14 & 15.5 stone for years, and currently sitting at the high end of that.

Have been eating way too much sugar and carbs and not enough activity during lockdowns.

I would like to get back to the lower end of the range in time for the summer, starting right now.

Not sure how well it's received on the thread, but I tend to have most success with Keto. As I mentioned above, I usually put it back on so it's not sustainable, but I can become very disciplined during the weight loss phase using it as it quickly kills my craving for sugar.
