I'm down 5.7kg so far, with no alcohol at all and no real cheats. I could be maybe have been a tiny bit stricter with diet, but very little in the way of major improvements, so I'm happy with that in just over a month.

I know I have two key dates coming up that are potential wobbles - tomorrow is my daughters' 20th birthday "party" and she has requested a buffet and cocktails (she lives with us) as she can't go out and have fun. I will have the buffet but not the alcohol. Then weekend after is Valentines and I have a michelin-starred meal on its way (one of those restaurant kit things) so I absolutely will be going to town on that and will break my no alcohol for that night, but the back on it the day after.

Frustratingly, my weight plateaued for 2 weeks of no change - and stubbornness got me through it as normally I'd have been "sod it" and cheated but I'm glad I stuck with it now.

Down another 1kg this week so now at 7.5kg since the start of the year. To be honest I’m surprised with the loss this week as last weekend involved a trip to the bakery for a rather large mocha bun with praline cream on Saturday and a huge breakfast burrito from the cafe on Sunday. And I may have smashed a whole box of praline seashells to myself on Wednesday evening too.

I’ve also cut my exercise back as I was doing RED January and a 1200km cycling challenge which have now finished.

Still, if it’s working, it’s working and my fitness seems good as I set a PB up the Alpe du Zwift last night too.

Just need to keep off the booze for a while longer.

Excellent work, the plateaus are frustrating!! I've been doing daily weigh ins at the same time etc and it's so frustrating after a few days of strict eating to find that my weight had actually gone up! The overall trend remains firmly downwards and total loss is about the same as you.

Personally I think the odd cheat day is essential. I've promised myself one of those 1kg Dairy Milk bars at Easter.

Still not drinking, eating the same (diet has always been ok though), have averaged 14k steps per day since the beginning of the year but TBH that is normal as I have dogs that need walking, days off I'm smashing over 20k steps. 2.1 kg loss since 16th January which I'm happy with, 1 inch off my waist too, I put my weight loss mainly down to dropping the alcohol.

Running has been on the back burner as I broke a rib 2 weeks ago, I'll probably attempt a run at some point next week though.

My lowest weight seems to be a Sunday, but a Sat night beer and takeaway sesh seems to leave me with

Mon +2lb
Tues +3lb
Weds +2.5
Thu +1.5
Fri 0.0

I then have been dropping a 1lb and a half over the weekend and then the cycle starts again. I can only assume it is water related.

Only 0.4kg loss this week, disappointed as it isn't even a pound :-( But the right direction. Sticking to keto and feeling great on it. Never feeling hungry as well.

Daily average intake (kCal) has been as follows:

  • Average daily total 997 kCal
  • Drinks included (No alcohol)
  • Daily exercise on rowing machine
  • All meals at home due to lockdown.
I weigh weekly on Sunday mornings and I'm hoping for another 0.5kg loss tomorrow ... should be OK

ETA
I've overdone it this week - lost a full kg so I'm ahead of my programme rotate

The day has come where I weigh more than my Dad...

To be fair he has lost a lot of weight over the past 6 months, rather than me putting on weight, but my target weight is lower than his, so I just need to keep on going.

5 weeks of Keto so far - being fairly strict - no alcohol, no sweeteners and no made up foods like "Keto bread". One cup of coffee / day with double cream and apart from that just drinking water - LOTS of water.

Diet is very easy - never hungry - in fact mostly the opposite - often not at all hungry and need to train myself not to eat when I'm not hungry just because it's "Meal time".

Also managing close to 18/6 Intermittent Fasting. Eating at 1:00pm and 6:00pm. The only thing ruining this at the moment is the double cream in my morning coffee. Thinking of swapping out my morning coffee for 1/2 lemon squeezed into hot water.

Also getting in a 4 - 5 mile walk every morning before I've eaten - averaging 3 mph on that walk (with Dog) - and lots of hills.

I am 5'11" or 180cm

5 weeks ago I weighed in at 129.2 Kg - which was outrageously fat / obese / morbidly obese....
Today I weighed in at 117.9 Kg - a drop thus far of 11.3Kg - I'm happy with that and am well motivated to continue.

As well as a weekly weigh-in, I have some shirts that I like but I'm too fat for. I am trying these on every week, and for 3 of them I'm getting close to them being wearable (just) but for one of them I've still got some way to go.

The diet will continue in its current form until the end of lockdown - then when restaurants are open again I will have a re-think - I will probably move to just low carb, with an "alcohol allowed" cheat day once a week - but I will stay off beer & lager.

Hi all. Quick question does anyone use Noom. If so. What happens when you reach your Goal. Do you slowly start to up your calories so you maintain your weight ?

I have lost 3.4 stone since last June. But am stuck on the stubbed last 3/4 of a stone to get me to under 13 and a half stone.

I originally used Noom to get the calories that helped me lose weight. But now need to lower them again. So tempted to resign up for the £1 trial. But I expect it will stick me on 1400-1500 calories a day.

So want to know what happens once I hopefully have lost the weight.

I probably need to think about a proper end weight id like to be. im 6.1 foot so I guess around 13 stone.

Work out your BMI and look at the range on the NHS website. I'm looking to get somewhere in the middle of the green area. You might find that is around 12stone for your height.

I had some nice tops I had to put away along with a very expensive pair of jeans that were not getting chucked out. It's a great feeling to get back in them, however I now have a load of XL T shirts that I'm wearing around the house as the neck is massive. It's a good feeling to get into the smaller sizes again.

I bought a large fleece top in december in the sales and recently had to rebuy in a medium. That was an expensive mistake so hanging fire on buying anything new for a while. smile

Good job folk, this thread and the table are really helpful for accountability!

I'm having an annoying time of it just now, staying with the in-laws so not a whole lot of control over the meals or portion sizes, plus too readily available snacks! Finding it hard to carve out the time to exercise too although I've been doing 30-minute pre-natal workouts with my pregnant wife which are surprisingly tough if done properly.

Ticking over but annoying to be +0.3kg on the first weigh-in of the year. Will keep at it!

This year is not going well. Yet.

The more positive news is that the turbo trainer is soon to be up and running, just need a few more bits and then I'm ready to get riding again.

Can make a big difference, if you use it consistently it really helps.

I try to do an hour every other night, sometimes more and get it so its challenging without killing myself, usually burn 600 plus calories in an hour according to the summary at the end and believe that is very accurate as based on watts produced.

Not losing loads but a little bit/holding steady.

All meals at home due to lockdown - portion size reducing but still having a daily treat (biscuit or yorkshire pudding or chocolate) - not missing the wine now and I feel a lot better for it. Slow weight loss continues at the rate of 0.5kg/week. I can now get into a jacket that I bought in 2006 for my son's wedding.

One stone down in three weeks! Feeling really good. Probably quicker than I'd like but I'm not doing anything drastic, just walking 2 miles an evening 5 days a weeks and keeping under 1500 calories. I'm also loving all the veg I'm eating now too. I've noticed it a little around my neck and chest. Trousers and shirts feel loosened although I don't see a lot of difference yet around my waist, got a way to go though!

Good luck pieman.

I've changed tact over the past couple of weeks. Stuck with keto, but kept cals very low through the week and then enjoyed an increase at the weekend. Going ok so far, and is helping me mentally which is good. Slow and steady.
