PH losers 2021 - The journey continues!
Discussion
Been meaning to do this for ages, so have taken the plunge and added myself to the Wiki.
Aged 50, short ex powerlifter/bodybuilder (20-25 years ago) so always been very heavy set & carried off being quite so overweight for a long time. Not so much now! Weight drifting up for a few years, always lose 1.5-2 stone every new year in a work competition which inevitably returns mid year but skipped last year & kept same weight through lockdowns until Q4 when it started to creep up again. Drinking more frequently at home, not excessively but just more regularly. Cabin at end of garden has the lot - benches, weights, KBs, battle ropes, machines, running machine & now a Peloton - all used infrequently.
Fast forward to Jan '21 & enough is enough as topped scales >20 stone. Decided to make a change, cut drink down to a G&T on Saturday night only, diet greatly improved, fairly low carbs, no sugar at all & 2 fast days a week. Doing 4 Pelotons & at least one weights day a week.
Desk job, 12-13 hours a day, quite stressy environment currently & getting 6-7 hours on a good night, so not all ideal but managing to be quite consistent with diet & exercise despite all that.

Am going to add myself to the Wiki shortly, once the tears stop flowing.....
Have posted this a few times so will merely say that I managed to lose five stone in eight months by eating a little more sensibly and doing lots of walking. Over the course of that time, I was averaging around 20-22 miles of walking per week, usually along the local railway path which can be quite picturesque when it wants to be.
When lockdown 1.0 arrived, I stalled big time and then when lockdown 2.0 came, I lost it completely and put on the five stone again in the space of about six months. No exercise at all, no willpower and ate what I wanted to.... blew it! So now, I've decided to try again and more or less follow what I did before as I know it works.
I'm a big lad, 6'4" and people still say "Ooh you don't look THAT bad" and "You carry it well!" but the truth is that this morning, I was a few ounces under 23 stone. So time to take action and lose it slowly and steadily. I work from home though my working day starts with a little courier run... this morning, I drove to the first customer & walked around the rest. It took just over an hour to do 4 miles & I'll try that every day that I can.
Good luck to everyone else losing or trying to lose.

Nice loss you have there. What app is that you're using?
Thanks, it's called Nutracheck. I have to pay £3.99 a month for it but so far it's proven to be worth it's while over other free apps. I'm quite pleased with my progress. Just try to walk 2-3 miles a day and keep under 1500 calories. W201_190e said:

Mate, I'm in a very similar boat. Had huge success last year with it all but have really not clicked back in with it all since the November lockdown and Christmas period. Haven't weighed in but I know I've gone the wrong way over the last few months. Head just not in the right place.Have posted this a few times so will merely say that I managed to lose five stone in eight months by eating a little more sensibly and doing lots of walking. I'm trying to motivate myself back into it all. Despite not having much room at all, I've found a way and the bike is now set up for Zwift:
Ironically just in time for the sunny weather but there we go... The plan is to ride every evening and build some cardio fitness back up.
Just need to get a handle on the diet side of things again and I know I can get back on track. The last couple of months have been tougher than I think I'd liked to have admitted but there's always a way forward.
I’ve gone in the wrong fking direction...up to 141kg this afternoon.
Not the end of the world but not ideal...
I need to be strict with my diet it seems. No cheat days. Work is the worst as we have a take away once a set. Works out once every ten days.
Started tracking with MyFitnessPal again.
Started the weekend well with a 4.4 mile walk. Ordered a cook book from someone i follow online who has quick meal ideas which I’m hoping will help.
Roll on the gyms opening again.

My good level of exercise has been more than cancelled out by the amount of crap I've been putting in my mouth during lockdown, and I was up to 82kgs last Sunday- 7kg up on a year ago.
So this week, exercise has been pretty typical but NO snacking, NO chocolate, NO crisps. I'm now down to 78kgs- 4kg lost in one week. Goes to show, you really can't outrun a poor diet!

Someone in here must know...
Using my fitness Pal and wear a Fitbit.
Did 16k steps today and my calorie adjustment in mfp is 1766 calories.
Which can't be right can it?!
Sounds feasible - using MapMyWalk - I use up about 1000 calories on a 9K walk, which is probably about 11,000 steps - that's with a weight of 120Kg. My wife uses a lot less for the same walk, but she weighs a lot less than me.Using my fitness Pal and wear a Fitbit.

Good luck mate, you can do it!
Cheers! You’re doing well!A good day today. Breakfast (weetabix), lunch was a cheese and ham sub thing from Tesco with some Quavers. Dinner was a chicken wrap. I’m fking stuffed now!
I did have a chocolate bar when I got home but still under my my target total calorie.
Tomorrow I’m back at my normal station with an amazing tuck shop...urg.
First weigh-in of my challenge 2.0 this morning and have lost a whopping ten pounds.
I have a lot to lose and I always seem to get off to a great start but still delighted with this. I pretty much nailed the eating this week, walked 25 miles in total and I got a few other things sorted in my life (I've always believed that the happier I am, the less I will eat) so have been organising my finances etc.
Won't be such a big drop next week but would take a 2-3 pound loss now if offered. Though -4 would be good as that would be a stone off in two weeks.
