Every year my hayfever shows itself earlier and earlier. Today I am sneezing away, eyes are running etc. All classic / unmistakeable symptoms, and I know that it'll be gone by the time we get to May.

Every year I think I'll remember to ask here whether the timing is a clue as to what sets me off. Is hay fever this early in the year typically associated with a specific tree? Thoughts / experiences welcomed.

Corresponds with the first catkins for me, which came out just before the recent cold snap. Earliest I've known it for sure.

Can't help you on specific trees, but early hayfever is def tree pollen related. Grass pollen comes later. Mine has started too, pretty early season this year.

I seen my first wasp the other day. I thought that was too early for them to come out.

Yep, tree pollen allergy, absolute misery for me. Pretty consistently starts late Feb till May’ish. Used to get Summer hayfever but that has now changed, and it’s way worse than I used to get from regular hayfever.

For the last 4 yrs I have had Kenlog injections which worked amazingly, within 24hrs all symptoms would stop and it lasted till around June. However, I believe it’s a quite strong steroid and immunosuppressant and so can’t have it this year with COVID.

Next few months will be misery as nothing else works for me- am on Telfast (fixofenidine?) but it doesn’t really touch sides and we are only a couple of weeks in! Rubbing Vaseline in my nose does help, so will be walking around with a greasy nose till June !!

Yup Hazel affects me too, but don't forget stuff like Jerusalem Sage.

Tree pollen allergy 100%. More common than I thought.

Do you also suffer itch throat eating apples and pears with skin on? Often a commonly associated condition.

Happening earlier maybe due to climate changes making some trees start earlier or increased sensitivity by you.

GP can try you on anti allergens or inhaled steroids

It's definitely early this year but then we have had spring like temperatures for nearly two weeks now. The wet and now warming conditions are perfect for a strong kick off to the tree pollen season.

I started feeling the itchy eyes last weekend which was the first time I had been outside for a long period(weather related) since before Xmas. I wonder if not being outside anywhere near as much as previous years is having a knock on effect as the exposure is like an off-on switch rather than gradual like in normal years?

Same for me. My hayfever has been terrible all this week! I thought I had a cold to begin with and then realised it was actually my hayfever!

Why are you so sure it’s hay fever? Surely it could be an allergic reaction to something else.

I saw my first mosquito a couple of days ago, (South Yorkshire).

My hayfever has also started yesterday. Nothing bad, but I can feel the tingling and slight itchyness in my nostrils and a slight runny nose.

Its all the fir trees that get me round here in Surrey, there's a fine yellow dust deposited on my cars this last week.

You can seen clouds of pollen coming off them in the wind..

I hadn’t considered this, but for about two weeks I’ve been waking up with a stuffy nose and a dry throat.
Mentally seemed too early to consider hay fever but you may be right.
I’m fortunate in that mine can be bought under control with some off the shelf Beconase, and if it gets really bad I add eye drops to the list.
Look like I’m off to Boots to stock up.
