No, fizzy drinks, including 'diet' and caffeine free.

Poster above appears to have dozens of empty 2L bottles, suggesting a high consumption.
Yer, built up over 9 months! I haven't drunk 12 bottles of Pepsi in a few weeks!! LOL

Exercise is a bad way to get lean, in my view. It’s massively easier to not eat 500 calories than to burn them.
Absolutely - and so often completely overlooked.
But is it sustainable? What's life without the regular, but not daily, naughtier food.
Easily sustainable, It's what I did. I still get plenty of treats. Combined with a bit of regular exercise I'm fitter than I've been in years

Exercise is the best way to stay lean. Also if you simply don't eat something the weight loss benefit stops there, whereas if you exercise the benefits are many, and many are long term.

A bit of both is the best way to be healthy but both need willpower but for many people Netflix Pringles and couch seems much more appealing.

True, but I'd speculate Diet coke is probably the second most consumed commercial drink in human history.

So sside from the acids being mildly corrosive (but probably no more than fruit juice, maybe less) the same empirical evidence applies.

It's perfectly safe.

Although somewhat addictive.

I love a double Espresso. I like the small cup, makes me feel like a big man.
The caffeine may be, I am not sure about the artificial sweeteners.

Aspartame has been studied extensively.

..And the empirical evidence showing Aspartame is safe equally applies. Billions and billions of dosings, zero signal observed.

The myth about Aspartame started years ago, I believe it was a tiny number of rats, having received an unconscionably high dose of Aspartame, had a slightly higher risk of some forms cancer. It had little or no relevance to it's use in foodstuffs, for this reason it continues to meet the highest level of scrutiny from entities like the FDA.

Caffeine free Diet coke ingedients: Carbonated Water, Colour (Caramel E150d), Sweeteners (Aspartame, Acesulfame K), Phosphoric Acid, Citric Acid, Natural Flavourings

I suspect the sweeteners in high quantities will fk you up, and the two Acids in the drink will help your Dentist purchase his next Porsche. And the E number will give you ADHD.

But Zero Calories! and most people use coke zero/diet coke as a filler, and if they didn't have it, they may have a chocolate bar instead, which is not zero calories so possibly a lesser evil, if you don't over do it.

I think later research is starting to suggest that artificial sweeteners, aspartame included, can cause problems with the gut microbiome amongst other things. There is more to eating and stting than just eating and stting.

Well the FDA and American Cancer Association, and in fact all of those involved in healthcare, are quite keen readers of the latest research. They conclude it safe.

And, I would, politely, refer you to the point I made three times previous to this about it being empirically demonstrated as completely safe.

To say otherwise, would be an extraordinary claim, and these require evidence.

Have a brief think about what man made chemicals you put in your body.... ever taken something for a head ache? Unless you’re eating whole foods, that’s more chemicals... Think of how many things humans consume from nature that were never intended for humans - they’re made of chemicals too.

A little bit of sweetener, with a track record of zero issues, needn’t concern you.

I agree, safe doesn't mean its good for you. I try and eat food with as few man made ingredients as possible, I try to avoid too much sugar too, but would rather have sugar in moderation over aspartame.
