Ford to make 1 million fewer cars, VW in crisis mode and many Tesla cars arriving at the end of 2022!

I ordered a new Skoda about 6 weeks ago - the manufacturing line was closed at the time to allow for MY changeover so I couldn’t be allocated a build week.

This is still the same.

My estimated delivery has gone from August to October and is now questionable for November.

Bloke in the pub told me that Bill Gates is in charge of microchips and they’ve all been put into covid vaccines. Then they’re going to watch us from satellites or something.

The guy in the pub was an idiot, there's no such thing as satellites.

Most car companies that also manufacture vans are not manufacturing vans currently or severely cutting back on van production, to divert as many resources as possible to their more profitable car arm, look at the prices of used vans, 4 year old bog standard Trafic vans are more expensive now than a brand new one that could be bought last year.

I'm waiting for a new company van, it was ordered six weeks ago, I have now been infomed that it will be at least four months before they get round to making it, as long as I don't mind the SatNav being missing.

Renault Trafic?

Trafic vans have had their sat nav removed, order one now and it will likely be December.

Read an interesting article about this yesterday.

https://spectrum.ieee.org/cars-that-think/transpor...

I've been working for automotive OEMs now for over 20 years. I was speaking to a former colleague at a very large manufacturer recently and he was bemoaning that he has literally no cars available to sell in national stock. i e. The compounds at the ports were completely empty. All due to chip shortages.

Mate has a new Vauxhall vivaro. Same as traffic. Broken sat nav. Dealer can’t repair/ replace: no spares.

On a similar theme: want a shock? Look up prices of camper vans and especially VW vans/caravelles/campers.

It can't be that new, the Vivaro is based on the PSA Van now, not the Renault.

Not new news, but interesting to see how bad it is. 4.1 fewer million vehicles produced so far this year as a result!
