Have to say my GP moved fast once I had the samples done.

What gets me is that I've never seen blood in the loo and that the FIT test is such a miniscule sample of poo, to find a trace of blood in that and be concerned is somewhat......errrr concerning.

My main symptom, that had me finally seeing the doc, was constant, loud, smelly flatuence which has just really ruined my chances of feeling confident and comfortable on a date.

Little things huh!

I'm 60 this year and bowel cancer took out my dad in his 70s thus my doc is worried.

Ok it maybe something else but my daily habit feels restricted and I'm mainly emitting gas, yet the stools, when they come, are soft.

My ex wife has battled breast cancer for 10 years and is being scanned the day before me for possible lung cancer.

Still have two teens at home and a daughter in her early 20s just starting out in life.

Well just need to start the clear liquid diet on Wednesday and take the laxatives on Friday.

Had a check, that was clear, at 50 so I knew to book this Friday off work and I won't leave the flat.

I've not spoken to anyone about this apart from ex wife and ex girlfriend, hence posting here.

Look after yourselves all.

Good luck matey! Sounds like it’s all being investigated properly early and you’re doing all the right things.

Relax, and don't worry too much. I'm 68 and 3 years ago my first test arrived in the post. All clear, but the 2nd year, a trace of blood identified.
Had the camera up etc and nothing found. It's strange watching the camera search on the screen in front of you!
This year, all clear.

Best of luck, remain positive and don't get sucked into Googling everything - my Wife does this and apparently she became convinced she was going to die because she had a mild persistent headache for a few days (also the persistence of some wine may have had something to do with it!)

Hope it goes well chum and nothing to worry about.

A 'top tip' I can offer. After drinking the laxative stuff don't stray too far from the toilet and when you do go sit directly on the pan not the seat so you contain the eruption. Otherwise the blow back can reach the underside of the seat. Ask me how I know rolleyes

Wishing you all the best. Sedation is optional, but of the many I had I only chose ‘without’ once! Ensure you’ve got a lift home.

I had the disappearing camera magic trick last September. Found 5 polyps which they just remove and biopsy and were ok.
The only worry was the procedure report that stated I took it very well 🤔
Will have another look see in 3 years.

Appropriate username hehe

Yes, I've discovered the underside of the loo seat on a previous occasion.

I managed to get blowback on the wall. It really does feel like the world is falling out of your arse.
Good luck OP !

What he says......

Up in Scotland, it's every 2 years starting at your 50th birthday, you're invited to take the poo test, its sent to your home and results take about a week.

Anything untoward at all is fully investigated via CT-Scan or colonoscopy - we have every reason to be thankful for this, it found a small tumour in wife's bowel, which was operated upon exceedingly quickly and she's as right as rain now
I'm amazed at how many folk we know have has polyps removed due to this too - a big triumph up here in pre-emptive testing, which isn't lauded anywhere near enough

Might be simple IBD - yes you can get that in middle age - or the markers from a rare steak or lamb chop.

Good luck either way though.

The earlier whatever 'it' is, is caught, the less treatment you will need, plus you will be in the system for follow-up.

Similar experience to my dad, but they found a tumour.

The NHS was fantastic, operated on quickly and got the tumour out, and he has been given the 'all clear' with 3 monthly check ups.

All the best!

Depending on your sense of humour, read some stories about those laxitives. In short, stay close to the bathroom and make sure there is lots of reading material within an arms reach.

Cheers hehe

Last time it was just one sachet.

Now it's two sachets and 10 pills yikes

Due to the 1pm appointment the second sachet has to be taken on in the morning of the day.

Bit concerned about the trip to the hospital and sudden expulsions.

When I had my check there was no risk of 'sudden expulsions' on the way to the hospital. The suppository properly cleaned me out.

Likewise.

Posters on here seem to blur into one but you stand out as being one of the more consistent and long-standing ones.

All the best. Keep us posted.
