Cheers hehe

Last time it was just one sachet.

Now it's two sachets and 10 pills yikes

Due to the 1pm appointment the second sachet has to be taken on in the morning of the day.

Bit concerned about the trip to the hospital and sudden expulsions.
When I had my check there was no risk of 'sudden expulsions' on the way to the hospital. The suppository properly cleaned me out.
Same here. I have never felt so empty !

So it's T-2 hours until my first potion.

For the past two days I've been on the low/no fibre diet stipulated by the the pre procedure paperwork.

All the stuff that we have been told to avoid like white bread, cheese, milk and butter, are allowed.

Must avoid greens, bran, oats, granary bread etc.

I had a baguette smothered in butter the other night. It was heavenly.

So no porridge oats with soy milk in the mornings and suddenly all the symptoms that had me finally seeing the GP have gone away, after only two days.

Coincidence?

No stomach pain, no soft constipation, and most importantly the old man, I can't keep it in, flatuence has gone.

Well the probe goes in tomorrow so we shall see but it'd be great if I could give up the 'healthy' diet.

Good luck. I’ve had three (all relatively clear, just a few biopsies - weirdly, you can feel the ‘nip’ as they take them).

As unpleasant as it is (you’ll now have sympathies when seeing a beach ball being blown up), it’s for the best, and isn’t that bad, and I wish you luck.

That moviprep should be banned under the Geneva Convention though!

Incidentally, if you have clear chicken soup (bouillon?) that’s fine.

Definitely not a coincidence. My own zero fibre diet experience tallies with the above, and a 6 month study on patients with idiopathic constipation showed complete relief of symptoms for those that eliminated dietary fibre:

Ho, K. S., Tan, C. Y., Mohd Daud, M. A., & Seow-Choen, F. (2012). Stopping or reducing dietary fiber intake reduces constipation and its associated symptoms. World journal of gastroenterology, 18(33), 4593–4596. https://doi.org/10.3748/wjg.v18.i33.4593

Having suffered with UC and having gone through it a few times,
The prep is the worst part, However my gastro is cool and gives me propofol, 10/10 Do recommend,

Without a doubt youll be on the throne skimming through PH, (hmm maybe the other one too) gritting teeth and debating when is safe to leave the bathroom. Short answer, not yet..

If you have not read the below, i can thoroughly recommend in your situation, was my go to read, knowing your not suffering alone strangely comforting

I've now had 3 colonoscopy procedures. I have a fairly tenuous familial history of bowel cancer, but they discovered two polyps in my ascending colon during the first one, so I have one every 3 years as a precaution/screening exercise.

Do they not use twilight sedation in the UK? Several of my UK friends who've undergone this told me they were fully conscious during the probing, which i would find somewhat unnerving, to say the least.

Although the prep is less than pleasant, it is not anything like as foul and voluminous as it used to me and in my case produces the desired result in spectacular fashion.

Good luck, Croyde, hope all goes well.

I had the disappearing camera magic trick last September. Found 5 polyps which they just remove and biopsy and were ok.
The only worry was the procedure report that stated I took it very well ??
Will have another look see in 3 years.
I read a book by Dr Richard Shepherd who is a autopsy person. (Mortician?) He said he often found tatoo'd dots in colons and later found out surgeons removing polyps put the dots in to show the location of previously removed polyps.

Book is The Seven Ages of Death. A fascinating one. Allbeit bit morbid given the topic. Apologies if this offends anyone.

Well firstly I have to commend all the girls and boys working at the Endoscopy unit today.

They were fantastic at making me feel comfortable and in good hands. Even the lady porter who I had a good chat with.

No cancer found. 3 polyps found and cut out in full HD. Being sent for tests but the consultant didn't seem too worried. Plus evidence of Diverticula disease, mild.

Guess that's what you get for 60 years of booze, curries and chips being forced over mucous membranes.

Fascinating watching the doc get the metal hoop over the polyp and then the smoke as it's snipped off.

Stomach is a bit tender and full of air. Headed over to ex girlfriend's for dinner. Hope it dissipates before then as she lives in a tiny studio with a toilet door about 4mm thick, behind the telly.

It was worrying that I still needed to go as I left for the hospital. No disasters on the train thankfully.

Cheers everyone for your input.

That could be a word-for-word report on my colonoscopy in 2015! Exactly the same findings except that I was told I have a small internal haemorrhoid. My biopsies were clear too. I've had three screening stool test kits in the interim both FOB and FIT. I didn't find any aspect of the procedure arduous, and I'd quite happily go through it again if needed. Good news for you that nothing nasty was found, and to an extent you've had a reset because polyps can turn malignant occasionally, but not if they've been removed, obviously.

Glad to hear everything is fine Croyde smile

By the sound of it you didn’t have the colonoscopy done under general, perhaps sedation?

At any rate, if I may, how uncomfortable was it? I’ve heard the worst is when they pump air in to open things up to see better and that this feels a bit like colic?

I have a gastroscopy with neither local nor sedation and it was fine and would like to do the same for my next 5 yearly checkup downstairs, which was under general the last time.
