Seriously - were you fully conscious while all that was going on?

Driller, to be honest it was fine. The pumping up wasn't as bad as I thought but they did hand me the stuff they give to women giving birth.

So why not, I was getting quite spaced whilst a lady doc was shoving something up where the sun don't shine.

You'd pay for that normally hehe

Having everything in front of you on a big telly is a fascinating distraction, especially when you see the polyps being snared and cauterized.

Difficult to equate that it's happening to you.

Best of luck with it.

Ok, thanks a lot for this valuable info! I'll definitely try without general or sedation then. So much better to be able to just jump on the bike and go straight home afterwards. Gotta admit, I don't know what that stuff is that "they give to women giving birth" though hehe My wife had an epidural for our daughter but this sounds like much more fun!

They had to tell me to lay off the gas as I was enjoying it a bit too much. No chance I was watching the big screen too !

No update yet on the biopsies but just musing about a healthy diet.

The low no fibre plain food for 3 days prior to the procedure and my tummy problems appeared to go away.

No loo 3/4 times a day. No feeling of not having finished and no terrible wind.

The past week or more I have stuck to coffee and a bit of toast for breakfast, a tomato or banana with a packet of crisps for lunch, then a small plain meal in the evening. Maybe some rich tea biscuits for pudding and another small packet of crisps for boredom.

No more creaking noisy tum, one loo visit in the morning, feel very good.

Even did a 17 mile walk followed by a 14 mile walk the next day. Something I wouldn't normally consider unless I knew there were toilets along the way.

Last night I had a nice healthy salad and today it's creaking tum, farts and 2, so far, loo visits and I need to go again.....soon.

Odd.

Odd.
Healthy green stuff? Roughage like salad, beans and raw veg is hard to digest. Try stick to the low fibre stuff if its helping. too much salad and green stuff mess my guts up too.

Meat, chicken, boiled white rice, pasta, fish, Cereals, all low fibre stuff, staple of my diet.

Actually i just googled low Fibre diet,

https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutri...

Through trial and error my diet is very similar and i have had no real flare ups from UC for years.
Although differant to your diagnosis, hoping it can work for you too !

Thread revival time as I have been fast tracked for a colonoscopy, date set for Monday 5th Feb, they wanted to book me in for the Friday before but am already booked in for an ultasound on my gall bladder.

Any tips/hints for after the event? someone said to make a note of where the nearest toilet is before you go in ready for after just in case, I guess even though the laxative empties you out it doesn't get everything?

Those who have had it done ( i know it will be different for everyone) but how long before bowel mvements returned to normal after the laxatives?

The advice comes from when you start the Agent Picolax mix. The toilet needs to be very nearby. If you think you need to go, it's likely too late. When you're on the throne don't use the seat. Arse direct on the porcelain forms the perfect seal.

Best of luck. It's relatively painless - uncomfortable at worst going around the bends . The gas/air stuff you can take on demand. Bowels movements should be back to normal the day after you've started eating normally again.

Vaseline on the sphincter between eruptions will keep it from getting sore in my experience. Billy Connolly has a stage routine describing his run-in with Picolax. He said "...my ahole was hanging in tatters!"

have read the 'agent picolax' story before
I think the day before and the time between the procedure and test results will be the worst part

That can be true but when I had mine I was told while still on the examining room couch that they had seen nothing of concern bar a couple of polyps which they snagged off at the time. It is comforting to have an informal comment from the medic at the time if that's appropriate.

Package arrived today with relevant paperwork and of course the 'medication'
I was expecting Picolax but have instead received Plenvu, dose 1 is mango flavour, dose 2 is a fruit punch flavour

Moviprep is another one you might have been given.

Had two of them and the prep is interesting. I suggest if you happen to have two bathrooms in the house sleep in the room closet to it. It does take a little while to take effect, but when it does you might have to move fast. Once it all kicks off, you just don't know how aften you'll be going back and forth, so chances are you'll have an unsettled nights sleep.

I do recommend some flushable aloe vira style wipes as it gets very very raw and sore. The noise that comes out your rear, puts a F1 car to shame.

Procedure itself its facinating it a odd way. Watching the inside of the poop chute on HD is an odd feeling.

Good luck.

As I recommended earlier, Vaseline applied to the sphincter between outpourings certainly helped me.

Today was the day, as mentioned by a few on here the worst part is the day before, and you were not wrong!
I had to take the 2nd dose from 9pm last night so as expected I didn't get much sleep, it was a case of...."christ, when is this going to stop?!"
Fortunatey my last bowel movement was around 8.15 this morning.
My experiance as a first timer....
As mentioned the day before is the worst part, the medication even though Mango flavoured still doesn't taste very nice but sipping over the course of an hour following each sipp with (in my case) oragne squash made taking it easier.
Once changed into a gown and taken into the room was easy and relaxed having a bit of a laugh & joke with the nurses, I had waking sedation which after the initial feeling after it being injected I didn't really feel any different, I was shown the camera they would use and then they got on with the job, only a slight feeling of uncomfortableness and I watched the whole thing on the screen and asked a few questions. The procedure took around 30-45mins then off to recovery where I was offered tea and biscuits right away, was only in recovery approx 20/25mins due to I imagine my vitals being back to normal from the sedation (everyone is different so this length was just mine),got dressed as was told I could go sit in the discharge waiting area for a nurse to talk me through the results and sign me out.
Thankfully for me the found nothing,no polyps or anything out of the ordinary, they did say I have piles but only minor/small and said this is most likely where the blood in the stool sample originated, obviously nt visible to my naked eye when I took the sample.
The only thing for me that was slightly painfull ( a 2 on the 1-10 pain scale) was the trapped wind, I did sit on the toilet for the first couple of wind release just to be on the safe side.
