Pisstaking aside, if it feels wrong it's your body trying to tell you something.

With sepsis it's better to overreact than underreact.

Get down to A&E. Might be a pain in the arse but it's better than the possible alternative.

Except if you are an immune system.

I've just got back from A and E. Small insect bite, now cellulitis requiring antibiotics. Get it looked at.

Keep an eye on the veins on your wrist/arm...

If you start to get a red track up your wrist and onto your arm then you need to get to hospital pronto.

Depending what the thorn was from, some can be quite nasty and cause reactions anyways.

If it were me I'd leave it a day or two and see what happens...

Shame you didnt start a thread asking whether you should stick an old sewing needle into your thumb first.

you probably should go to A&E. I read this yesterday - https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/in-your-area/lanarks...

Get yourself to a Minor Injury unit or a walk-in centre. Warmth in the area indicates infection. While probably not dangerous, in worst cases it can develop into septicaemia.

I’d say go to A&E, but minor injuries are usually much quieter as few people are aware of them.

Warmth in the area suggests inflammation, the normal repsonse to insult. Yes, a worst case could lead to sepsis but there's nothing to suggest he's at that level yet. Poor old ED.

Don’t think he’s got erectile dysfunction? Can the OP confirm?

You really don’t/didn’t need A&E. Photos and telephone call with GP practice, or a face to face and you would of been fine I suspect.

Uncle was bitten by his new pup that was teething . Just a scratch. He has 8 dogs as he’s a gamekeeper so not an unusual thing with a puppy teething.
Went to hospital as his hand was swelling. 19 hr wait so went home.
3 days later went back, admitted right away, compromised blood supply to 2 fingers. Sepsis and infection.
They opened up his hand and left it open after washing infection out.
Still in hospital in a bad way.

My other half is a GP, so I can get an honest opinion without any need to book an appointment or wait in A&E.

That opinion is inevitably that I am being a massive wuss and a hypochondriac. Or in the case of thorns and splinters that I should quit moaning while she digs it out.

(To be fair, she did spot my enlarged thyroid and made me see my GP, who sent me to the hospital, who stabbed me in the throat with a needle and determined that it’s benign. And because I have ginge-level freckles she’s always checking them out for skin cancer. And she’s nagging me about my cholesterol. She does care, it just comes without any sympathy)
