Morning guys! I've dropped another pound this week, which is admittedly less than I'd hoped, but a loss is a loss!

My mood has been a bit up and down but I took the E30 out for an hour, which always brightens my day. smile

I've not been able to order my next pen yet and will have to wait until the first week in May before I can hopefully get another. I must admit, were it not for the side effects of some of my meds, I would most likely try decanting in an effort to stretch treatment out. I can't risk holding a mug of tea without launching it across the room, so a £200 dose of MJ or Wegovy is just a risk too far! laugh

My leg ulcers are still 2 steps forward and 1 back, but overall they are still way better than they were a year ago. My BMI is now well into the 30's and that has to be good news.

This thread has become really important to me and I remain grateful to you all. Whether you've helped me financially, or posted words of encouragement, it has helped me change my life. I know I'm repeating myself and being dependent on others isn't always a comfortable place to be. Especially when everyone is having a harder time nowadays. I really hope that I will be able to return to work this year but I also know the risk of returning too soon.

Anyway, I hope things are continuing to go well for you all?

Nice to hear Mark.

I dropped you a PM about a spare pen I had. Let me know if interested and see if I can help somehow.

Noob here.
Just bought my first course of Wegovy 0.25mg.

I’m wondering when to take the first pen, tactically.
Are side effects the worst right at the beginning, if so I would take it Saturday morning and have all weekend to recover.

Is it better to take it morning, afternoon or evening? Empty or full stomach?

Does it play well with booze or do I need to cut that down, or at least go for blander stuff like vodka soda?

it's possible to overthink some of it. Best to just get going. Saturday morning is what I've always done. The side effects might not be that bad but if you do get them then they will help you lose weight tbh. Best of luck.

Thank you!

+1

Best decision I made was to just get started. Lots of great support here, that has been invaluable for the majority of us. Good luck! Mark

Saturday morning i used to take mine, after dog walk and breakfast.
If your serious about losing weight, I'd cut down on the booze. It's a miracle drug, but you have to work with it.
Ive been off it 12 weeks now at 13st 11lb, weighed myself yesterday morning and I've hit 12st 13lb.

I used to enjoy a bottle of wine at the weekend but have virtually cut that out now. Definitely helps.

Short answer no, I've lost nearly 8 stone on 2.5mg, starting at 24 stone/152kg.

You do need to work with it IMO and use it as a tool to help rather than just race up the doses and leaning on it taking away your entire appetite. Also, lots say the 5mg is when they really notice an effect.
Thanks. Am seeing some benefit now, have dropped a couple of kg. I see what you mean about working with it. Couple of times Ive been eating, purely out of habit and had to stop and think, am I actually hungry. Am also finding mid morning I feel a little bit hungry, but can ignore it and then often go right to dinner time without really eating.

One issue I have at the min is I have my teenage kids living with me for a bit and they like a snack box and the temptation is there all the time. If they werent here I wouldn't buy the stuff.

Seemed to have started working really strongly with a bang yesterday. I was busy during the day, but usually would still find time for lunch and feel hungry. Kids wanted a BBQ. BBQ was ready at about 5:30, I hadn't eaten anything all day by this point, and not really thought about it. I put some bits on my plates, a burger, hot dog, and chicken kebab. In the past would have smashed that without thinking. At the hot dog and kebab, but half way through the burger I just thought. I dont want to finish this. So I didnt. Down 4.2kg now and still only on my 3rd dose of 2.5mg.

I'm still trying to break 40 years of conditioning that says "you must finish everything on your plate".

Small update from me...

After a period of bobbing around at roughly the same weight for a while I was contemplating going up to 10mg, however I've had a fair bit of acid reflux over the last few weeks so had been holding off. Sunday's weigh-in showed a decent drop again so I'm sticking at 7.5 for now (re-ordered today).

Here's my progress - starting weight 183.6kg now down to 147.6kg (36kg lost):

I'm happy with steady loss now, it'll give skin more of a chance to adapt (although I'm aware I need to up my hydration which will also help). Once my house purchase is complete I'll also be joining a gym nearby and there are loads of lovely places locally there for walks and bike rides (particularly as we're into spring now) so that'll help loads too.

Congrats to everyone else who's seeing success as well, keep going!

this, plus also a combo of unavoidably loading up the plate!

there is even more psychology to this than pharmacology, really.

Now 6 weeks since my last MJ jab, have managed to lose a further 5lbs with a food tracking app and a hell of a lot of exercise.

I'm happy and where I wanted to be at this stage, its sooooo much harder than being on the jabs lol, but that's how it is...................MJ was always a starting point for me to get to somewhere I could take over myself, so far so good.

Just back from nurse and although I ve lost another pound or so, my left leg has started to deteriorate. They ve taken a swab of both ankles and used a different cream but if they continue, to break down, then they ll bandage both legs on either Thursday or Monday next week. They’re just so bloody sore and although I have to use pain relief, I do try and keep it to a minimum, or else it doesn’t seem as effective.

It s a massive disappointment but I just need to try and not let it drag me down. The biggest immediate issue is the need for footwear, as the trainers I used to have literally fell to pieces. They kindly ordered some NHS shoes but even their XL s were too small. Even the box they came in wouldn t have fitted. At least I no longer have the mud to deal with, so it s not all bad news! It s things like shoes that I never considered previously. I m not proud, so am looking in places like Vinted, but being so susceptible to infection, I have to be careful. I m sorry if this comes off as me moaning about my situation again, as it s really not meant to, but there s just no point my pretending that I can get through this and back to work, without help.

I ll attach a couple of pics but those of a squeamish disposition might want give them a miss.

I hate to think how bad things might be without the weight loss? Anyway, as ever, thanks all for the ongoing support. I remain extremely grateful.

Mark

Weighed in yesterday and out of nowhere I've dropped another 3lb this week. I'm no longer morbidly obese and the lightest I've been in years. I'm currently trying to get to grips with vinted, so I can order my next pen. I'm 60 in June, so want to attend the Brighton Sunday Service on the 24th but at this rate I'll have to go naked and nobody wants to see that! smile

About to make another hole in my belt.

I've been stuck at 95kg now for a month on 1mg Wegovy. The 1mg doesn't seem to have the same effect as the 0.25mg and 0.5mg.

I've got two mates who both went cold turkey and have kept almost all of the weight off 5 months later.

I believe that a potentially serious side effect has been identified with the fat jabs. Non-arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION), or "eye stroke," or Potential blindness. That’s quite the gamble. There’s never a magic wand, there’s always a pay off. For me, potentially being blinded isn’t worth it. Diet and exercise wins.
