I believe that a potentially serious side effect has been identified with the fat jabs. Non-arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION), or "eye stroke," or Potential blindness. That s quite the gamble. There s never a magic wand, there s always a pay off. For me, potentially being blinded isn t worth it. Diet and exercise wins.
Thats regarding Wegovy though isn't it? SodiumThiopental said:

I believe that there are many more identified and proven side effects from being over weight.Diet and exercise is important but does not have the desired effect for everybody.
I assume you don’t need to lose any weight.

Fortunately I don’t, but I’m not enthralled by the idea of big pharma potentially blinding people for commercial gain. Tread carefully, make sure you engage medical professionals in the process, and everything is potentially gravy I reckon.Diet and exercise is important but does not have the desired effect for everybody.

great contribution, maybe go set up an anti GLP-1 thread and post some sensational misinterpretations of research in there instead then. SodiumThiopental said:

Your posting style makes it sound like (the wicked) ‘Big Pharma’ is intentionally blinding people for profit whereas in truth they are developing a drug that seems to help the majority of users.
Every drug can have side effects – if the drug is effective people weigh up the risk.

what's the best way to come off MJ... cold turkey or ramp down?
Speaking from personal experience, go cold turkey.By now you’ve built better habits and should have a better relationship with food. Expect cravings, bigger portions, more often but that’s when you put the work in.
It’s been 12 months since I came off MJ (cold turkey). Lost a further 2+ stone, train almost daily and in the shape of my life.
Good luck.

This has been known since the early days of GLP1s (over 20 years ago don t forget) and is more to do with diabetics and overweight people who are generally in poor health. Many of the headline grabbing “Fat jab side effects” which are intimated as being directly related to the jabs such as Gallstones, Pancreatitis, muscle loss, bone density problems etc are actually related to weight loss in general.
GLP1s have been around for decades at this point, they are well understood and -as another poster pointed out- being overweight carries very real actual fatal/life altering risks so it s pretty easy to weigh up the pros and cons for many people.
P.s. don t whatever you do look at the side effects of paracetamol or ibuprofen as you ll never take it again

I went cold turkey 6 weeks ago, the food noise came back gradually but no worse than before the jabsI m holding on using sensible eating and exercise and have lost a further 5lbs on top of the 28 I lost on MJ
Has anyone found that as they get closer to their goal weight they need to up their MJ dose?
I've been sticking to 12.5mg for all this year and in the past few months I've noticed the side effects pretty much go away, next to no sulphur burps when staying at a certain dose, or stomach cramps on days 1-3
But, I've also noticed on shot 3 and 4 it feeling less and less effective. I'm on shot 3, i normally take these on a thursday. Today I'm noticing the hunger increasing, previously I could feel this wearing off a little on wednesday. Took a handful of cashews just it's not helped.
On the one hand I want to increase the dose to 15mg to aid with the weight loss/fullness. But on the other hand I'd like to eat more so I can have more energy as I'd like to to get back into weightlifting and regain some of the muscle lost/body recomp/do hypertrophy and regain some strength. I haven't been in the gym for a year. While the fat has massively decreased there's still some that needs to budge. I used to wear 38"-40" jeans, but the other day I've bought some 24" slim fit ones (never owned slim fit ever). I'm at the weight/clothes size I used to be 15-20years ago and the weight on the scale matters little but rather how lean I am.

I'm a year in on 2.5mg and haven't noticed that yet. I certainly get periods where it seems like I'm not dropping much but it comes off eventually.
I'm curious on your height and weight? I know i lost a chunk whilst going up doses, but all I could think was I can't wait to go up a dose. If I could do it on the lowest doses I would. I'm 170cm, started at 108kg and currently just under 83kg.

I'm 6ft 2, when I started the jab I was 150kg and I'm currently 108kg. I'm 170cm, started at 108kg and currently just under 83kg.
I expected to do the same but I lost nearly a stone in the first month and just decided to see how it went, once I stopped dropping the weight I was going to move up the dose but I'm still chugging along on the 2.5!
Im 5ft 11 and started MJ 2.5mg in October and came off it in February. Starting weight was 17st 7lb and stopped taking it at 13st 11lb.
I wanted to see if I could get down to my target weight of 13st 7lb(4st loss), as of this morning im 12st 11lb. Im finding it pretty easy to lose, but hard to maintain.

I'm 6'1" and dropped from 94kg to 86kg in 3 months. Actually in 1.5 months as I have now sat at 86kg for 6 weeks.
I was on 2.5 but upped to 3.75 for this past month (as I shared my 5mg with my wife). I'm going to have to do more (and mix up) exercise than I am to get down to where I want to be - 83kg

My understanding (and I may be wrong) is that MJ itself doesn't cause you to lose weight, it's an appetite suppressant that means you eat less to lose weight. The increase in dose is simply to counter your body's adaptation to it. So I'm not sure how upping the dose to enable you to eat more to allow you to go to the gym whilst still losing weight works unless you burn the extra you eat in the gym. In which case you don't need to up the dose, just go to the gym.ben5575 said:

Correct. Upping the dose is done when the 'food noise' means you are eating more. MJ essentially helps you think less about food or hunger, it doesn't dissolve fat.Weigh in Wednesday for me and the next milestone hit as exactly 9 stone lost now (since 26th Feb' last year). I want to drop another 3 to bring that up to 12 so 75% now done and very pleased. Saw some clients yesterday for their annual review and it was lovely when they said 'who are you' with a chuckle when I arrived. They knew I was on the journey but always nice to get great feedback.
Keep going all, some great results shared on this thread.
