If your alcohol consumption is within the calorie budget that keeps you in deficit, from a weight loss perspective it mostly doesn't matter whether it's 250 calories of beer, organic rice cakes, or Haribo. 250 calories of boiled egg will fill you up more, but if you fancy a drink, and you can afford the calories, and it won't leave you staring in the fridge at 11pm, why not?
Why not? Nutrition.

Presumably most people on the injections are hoping that losing weight will improve their overall health outlook.

Filling up their calorie quota with Alcohol or indeed Haribo or Rice Cakes is not fueling the body with what it needs to function effectively and healthily. Your also failing to prepare your body and mind for a life after the jabs by not creating the right food habits whilst you have the jabs assisting you.

I'm usually a quiet observer here but was so disappointed by your advice I couldn't ignore it.
People are looking to lose some weight, not necessarily to become "my body is a temple" health freaks. And setting oneself goals of perfect self denial is setting oneself up to fail.

in the years leading up to starting taking MJ, I had been drinking far less than before anyway. I noticed when starting MJ that I wanted a drink even less often.

I still drink occasionally like if meeting up with friends or going out for a meal, but when I do so it seems to hit me a lot harder but it's different to a hangover. I don't know whether it is alcohol+MJ or if it is food+MJ that causes it. It also might be an exacerbated effect from IBS that I have had for a while.

In any case it is containable, and I am not about to quit drinking as I enjoy it, and if I still managed to lose weight whilst having an occasional drink then there is literally no concern anyone else should have about it.

I understand both sides of the argument when it comes to alcohol. Yes, from the outside it seems foolish to spend a couple of hundred pounds per month to help lose weight and then not try and max out it's potency.

However, for me, i didn't want to stop alcohol drinking at all, i wanted to reset my toxic relationship with it. I used to drink heavily 7 days a week - that's now down to a Friday and Saturday night and is considerably less consumption. To me, that would be a much more normal relationship with drink so i've just used the benefits of MJ in a different way.

And my new pattern is fully established, i couldn't be happier.

Horses for courses.

Day 43 and only 0.7kg lost this week. As second week on 5mg I’d hoped for more but we are where we are. I’m probably at the needing to pay more attention to what’s going on stage, which is fine. Reset and go again.

Stick with it. I think it's fairly usual to have weeks where we don't lose as much as hoped.

Although I m not suggesting you re being reckless, 0.7kg per week is still above safe weight loss levels.

For the first month on MJ you re mostly dropping water alongside some fat and muscle (which is why initial weight loss is so high) but from then on it slows down a bit as your body runs out of the easy things to burn.

Losing 1kg+ per week like some do is unsustainable long term and results in people losing huge amounts of muscle and pretty much the same amount of fat as a slower rate of weight loss.

With a 1000cal per day deficit (which would give you 1kg per week weight loss) your body goes into starvation mode and burns muscle which is the easiest thing it can use besides sugar.
0.5ish kg loss per week is a lot more realistic and equates to a 500cal deficit per day as half a kilo is (roughly) 3500 calories.

As Mark said, stick with it! 0.7kg per week is still a very high rate of loss.

Thats a healthy drop in a week. I've done around 1.5lb & 2lb a week since I started MJ. IMO slow and steady is a better way to go about it, build good habits over time and hopefully loose less muscle along the way. Marathon not a sprint etc etc.

113kg at 5'11" here, first dose of wegovy yesterday.
Not sure I feel anything from it, had 2x cheeseburgers last night and have felt full since, but likely would have anyway? No nasty side effects so far.

You gonna make any effort with your diet whilst you’re jabbing or just continue with a st diet?

Definately continue with a st diet, just less of it.

That won't work, you may as well just set fire to your cash. Or you are trolling. 2 cheeseburgers is not 'less'.

Not trolling, genuinely had 2 of them. Put a handful of rocket on each though instead of the usual bacon, and I skipped the chips. Probably a 1000 calorie meal, and the first I had since breakfast.
Haven't felt hungry at all today, usually I would. Had 2 eggs and some toast as breakfast, steak at dinner was a struggle. It's definately doing something.

How very odd.

You have made the decision to lose weight but don’t want to embrace the experience with a healthy diet.
Unless you change, you are destined to fail and be one of the people that lose weight only to put it all back on when they cease jabbing.

I will be changing my diet to an extent, but will still eat less of what I enjoy.
If it was easy to change the diet, I wouldn't need the wegovy.

A poor, or 'thoughtless' diet impacts so many other aspects of your life, not just weight. I do however understand what you are saying. I think there has to be a compromise between '100% clean' and '100% enjoyable', that is not saying that for some attaining both simultaneously is possible but I'd suggest for many compromise is not only inevitable but desireable.

What works for me is that Monday to Friday inclusive I eat 'to a script', same intake, same calories, same meals but weekends I can have what I want but as you suggest try to limit the portions etc...with varying degrees of success. I have another helping hand now, I have a hernia and if I overeat it is markedly more problematic with a 'full stomach/intestines' so I'm now pretty minimal from this weekend also.

Good luck on your journeys all, peace and love always, gbn x

You’ll probably still dump a lot of weight. I wouldn’t recommend coming off the medication if you want to keep the weight off.

This is half the reason slim people hate these jabs because they’re an absolute cheat code.

Do you get any GI symptoms at all after eating a high fat meal like a burger?

I was ok Friday night, but only had the first jab 6 hours before.
Had indigestion most of the day yesterday, seems to have cleared now. Still don't feel hungry.
For the record, I don't eat burgers every night, my diet isn't that bad... It was a Friday night and the jab hadn't kicked in.
Portion control is my biggest issue, put the food in front of me, and I'll eat it.

You don't have to justify anything to anyone on here, you do you. Preachiness is tedious regardless of whether it's from a slim person thinking your cheating or a reformed fatty who's kept the weight off.

It is unrealistic that everyone can simply change their eating habits the second they take their first jab. Part of the process is having the space from the food noise that the jabs provide. That's when you can start to make positive changes and try to break the old habits (insert vegan plus bacon trope).

you need to live a life. Very restrictive diets don't work. Ask any dietitian whether what they recommend is about compromise or about chicken and broccoli and they will all say the former.

That said, you need to hit your protein, nutrition and calorie goals, and if you are missing any one of those you will experience a downside. Too little protein and you will atrophy your muscle mass. Too little nutrition and you will end up with things like your hair falling out or extreme fatigue, and other worse impacts longer term. Go over your calories and you won't lose fat.

Within those constraints you do whatever the fk you like and anyone telling you otherwise can do one.
