I don't know the cost of this treatment on the NHS for those that are eligible but with the comments of weight gain in a very short time scale after stopping the treatment, will it end up cost neutral for the NHS I wonder with (for want of a better phrase) lazy fatties being permanently on the treatment?

I researched this for months. I took advice form a consultant surgeon friend who said its a seismic game changer and even tackles alcoholism as it helps satiate that 'little devil voice' craving too..
A mate of mine is taking these jabs and in addition to his weight loss they have helped drastically reduce the amount he drinks (usually larger) as he just feels full and has little desire to drink the quantity he used to, and he did like a few pints most evenings but he's now not so bothered.
Yep I found I wasn’t interested in alcohol at all as well. I was never a big drinker but practically sober now.

Going to the gym as an older person has many many health benefits, not sure why you’re putting such a negative light on it, people that lift weights into their later decades live longer, countless studies have proved that
I wouldn't disagree with you, but I never ever enjoyed them - even when I just about had a six pack early thirties and big guns due to knuckling down and just doing it. Used to dread it though - but did get my reward. Some love it and are great at it. Horses/courses.

Yesterday I was 12kg lighter than when I started on this journey back in November. I've just taken my 3rd 7.5mg jab earlier this morning.
I use to take 2 different tablets for high blood pressure, I've managed to come off one of them due to the weight loss.

I'm using these alongside a much more active lifestyle, at the moment majority of it is walking but I've gone from covering maybe 5 miles a week to 3+ miles a day.

I tried my old methods of exercise and diet, sadly it wasn't making the difference that it use to make and knew I had to do something about it to shift the weight and improve my health. This has made such a huge difference and the only regret I have is not starting this sooner.

beer (replace the beer glasses with mineral water or protein smoothies)

Great job. I love seeing these updates, it's helping so many people. What amazes me most is not just the weight loss but as you say, the related positives, like stopping other medications, and being able/motivated to move more.

I don't need to lose much but I have loved seeing my jeans not fit, and my belt being tighter each week. I've just ordered my second batch (another 2.5mg).

Keep up the good work slim jim ;-)

Weighed in this morning to see a BMI of 29.8. For the first time in probably 10 years (since the injury that first started the weight gain in fact), I’m not obese.

Started in oct 2024 with bmi of 38.4.

Blood pressure down from dangerously high to normal
Waking up with migraines in middle of night down from 3x a week to never
No breathing problems
Actually enjoy exercise again (which I used to love)
More focused at work
40” to 34” waist

I’m quite happy if I’m on this for life. It’s a game changer and opened doors I thought were closed for me forever.

New suit on the horizon in next month or so when I hit my target (probably another 20lb to go)

Interesting peice in the Guardian on a study into the affects of these drugs on people's appetite for alcohol. I find it noteworthy that investment analysts are starting to flag the risk of these drugs to the big alcohol brand owners.

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2025/jan/26/s...

Also, on a completely seperate note, how do you know what your target weight should be?. I've been on these for 6 months and I've lost 25-30kg*. My trousers are down from 42" to 38" and I'm wondering what I should be aiming for at 56 & 6' 2". Currently I'm at 82kg and my BMI is 22.9 but my gut is still quite a presence and not yet half my height.

(*I didn't weigh myself at the start, I didn't want to know so I'm going off a weight figure I knew 12 months earlier, but I had cut back my alcohol intake a lot before starting these)

Your description is of a slim man with a belly. With some muscle on you, that's a decent weight already.

Had a chat with my local GP, he looked it up and said it would cost the surgery £90 per prescription

I started on 28th October [ Mounjaro via Medexpress ] weighing in at a heavily obese 19st 2 lbs . 180 cm tall.
Today weighed in at 16st 6lbs. Ideally want to lose another 21lbs
Few side effects. Tummy aches most mornings and mouth incredibly dry. Blocked nose too but thats been since the flu jab in November so probably not connected.

I guess it then depends on how long one prescription lasts

Two months for me two stone loss
I can see the supermarkets putting pressure on the gov
I’m not eating or drinking anything like I was.
Seems a stone a month is about average
So by summer I’ll be sorted.
I know it’s a huge cost to the nhs
Maybe if it was offered at a higher prescription price or maybe means tested for it
It’s bloody impressive though I must say
All I’ve had today is some turkey bacon noddles and broccoli 900 calories. Where as normally I’d have had three on four rounds of toast if not an English breakfast
Some biscuits or snacks all day, Then a big tea and maybe a bottle of beer
It’s amazing how it turns the distraction for food off for you

I had what I thought was a diarrhea bug for 3.5 days last week. Recovered on Friday, took jab on Saturday morning and now feeling my stomach churning again.

Guess I'll find out tomorrow if I'm having a reaction/side affect.

How long will it take you to put all the weight back on after you stop the jabs, and how much muscle mass will you have lost?

The spit and sawdust gym I go to, the kind of gym where 90% of the people are on stuff and look more than amazing, I know the owner well and he can get anything you need, has just posted up hes got Tizepatide and Semaglutide available.

I'm like 40% tempted (in general about the jabs not buying from him) but think I'll stick to calorie/macro counting.

If he's doing it right, he should change his eating habits and be more aware of what is good and what isn't, thus not regaining weight. If he's working out and eating protein etc, then he shouldn't be losing much muscle mass.

This has happened to me a couple of times since I started in November. First time I thought it was a bug, second time it was accompanied by the well known sulfur burp side effect. I came to the conclusion both episodes were caused by eating too much/too quickly and the food dwelling too long in my digestive tract.

Recently I've been eating smaller amounts spaced out through the day combined with good hydration, which seems to have helped

You are right, of course, and I wish him well but I can’t see any reference to working out or gym in his post, nor any suggestion of change in eating habits. I quote, “It’s amazing how it turns the distraction for food off for you”

Did any of you watch the to series The Biggest Loser? Or any of you sign up for Weight Watchers? Without a fundamental change in lifestyle and type of food consumed most of the jabbers will be in a worse place in one years time than when they started.
