You're absolutely right and hopefully most people realise it's common sense. I've posted before that the treatment needs to be looked at like antidepressants; they don't solve the underlying issue(s) but they do make it easier for us to work on making the changes that are needed to effect that longer term. That isn't only just diet but also exercise and generally making healthier choices all round.

It would be crazy to have spent thousands losing the weight only to revert to the old ways and put it back on again.

I lost 50kg back in 2019/20 through sheer willpower alone (diet and exercise, I was at the gym 6x a week) but covid lockdowns hit me hard (lived alone, 1-bed flat with nowhere to exercise) and subsequently other issues came in to play that took time to diagnose and treat (low T) all of which led to the weight creeping back up.

I'm now down 41kg in exactly a year - I started mounjaro 14th July - my T is that of an 18 year old again and now I've moved, I'll be joining a local gym and getting back on the fitness mission.

Mounjaro's not the solution bit it makes achieving the outcome you need much, much easier. You just have to understand it, and work with it to make the changes needed to sustain the result. It buys you the headspace to fix the problem.

I have another 50kg I want to lose at present, then work out where I go from there. Hoping I can do that in the next year.

For now though, and to put it in context, I've lost a little more than both of these combined:

I think about that every time I swap the bottle over in the office water machine and try to imagine having to carry both of those around with me 24/7 again.

Comparing weight lost to a tangible object has been very motivational for me. When i hit 9.5 stone off I took a picture giving our small 19 year old a firemans lift, and the same with the skinny mother in law when I hit 10 stone off this month. Have an 11 stone friend lined up for next milestone biggrin

I found that whilst wegovy killed my appetite, I still felt hypoglycaemic so dizzy, feint, basically like you haven't eaten. With MJ, it seems to balance out your blood sugar so even though you're not eating you don't notice/feel dizzy etc. There are limits to this though, I still run (albeit a lot slower!), but if I run too far or don't eat enough I crash really badly afterwards.

I was having more side effects on Wegovy as well, I felt cold all the time which is unlike me, often had stomach ache and the stuff that follows and alot of sulphur burps etc. So far on MJ I have just had a little indigestion and thats about it. The coldness might come when the weather cools down.

How were you eating? Did you go back to old habits? Were you eating/drinking mindfully?

I hear alot about these kind of things of people coming off and i find it concerning. I haven't gone off it yet, but the thing that worries me alot when coming off is wasting all the money and time spent on the drug only to pile it back on.
It was whilst skiing with mates. Then drinking a lot of beer and not exercising enough. For me it’s going to be a life long commitment and struggle.

Well I’ve decided to go back on MJ for a bit.

Had really good results from 6 months of it, came off on Feb, and the weight has slowly been creeping back. Below is BMI.

I’m just hungry all the time, eat a meal and I still want a snack after.
And the amount of treats kicking around the office every single day… I say I’ll just have half a cookie from the freshly baked 5 packs that get bought by someone every day… which I then do about 4 different occasions in an afternoon. Bit by bit the weight is slowly creeping up.

The missus also has stopped taking it, but has kept her subscription up, so we’ve got a stockpile of pens in the fridge, so thought why not try another pen or two. It just makes keeping weight off so much easier.

On the 2nd week of 2.5mg dose from an 7.5mg pen and I’d forgotten how effective it is at the start. Have been feeling quite queasy all day, but I know from memory the first 3 weeks were the worst for me and it gets fine after that.

My 'golden doses' finished a week ago so am trying to keep going with the reduced food intake, better diet, increased exercise etc. Have been feeling really hungry but just trying to style it out. Hopefully the hunger will fade eventually though? If I could have the security of these treatments though, I would.

My legs are back in full compression again now. The hope is that it will bump start healing again, although I'd be happy so long as things don't deteriorate.

Decided to stop taking the wegovy pill after a few days. Didn't like how it caused, not pain, but a sensation/tightening/awareness of part of my stomach..

Was good at suppressing hunger though - as well as dampening desire for shagging and coffee! Always felt like being "on" something. Perhaps that goes if one sticks with it.

Think it’s day 6 of my pills. Still no side effects other than slight indigestion but rennie soon sorts that.

For me I think it’s wearing off already (yes I’m only on the starter dose) but I’m eating more each day (last night I did a full pan 12” pizza to myself so maybe I do need the next one up (4mg) soon.

It’s very short lived in the body it seems. For example I’m not that hungry during the day and then at night I’m starving again.

Looking forward to the scales tomorrow to see what impact (if any) this week has had.

I had plateaued for 3 weeks with nothing changing. Went up to 7.5mg of MJ. On 5mg I had occasional pangs of nausea, nothing awful. On this I have this low level almost constant feeling of being slightly nauseas or hungry, cant work out which. Anyway plateau broken and dropped another 2kg. Am 6kg away from my target and maybe another 3kg away from a stretch goal. Would ideally like to hit around 96kg and then spend a few months packing some muscle back on to get me around the 99kg. Keep it in double figures for the aesthetics.

Im defo eating less, even on the higher dose I will finish a I meal I serve but that's because I am serving smaller portions. Got back in to more regular exercise as well. Benefits to me have been amazing. I have had this on off hip flexor problem, Id play a game of cricket, bowl 4 overs and not be able to walk for a week. Last game, bowled 10, it the heat and was fine after.

I did Mounjaro for an initial 3 months, then 6 months later another 4 months.

I started at 17st and my lowest was just over 12st, with muscle.

That was over a year ago and my weight had slowly crept up to 14st but, I haven't sustained the muscle so the fat is more than that. I don't look big any more but my belly was getting bigger in the slim fit t shirts I bought so decided to crack on with another diet.

My GF doesn't want me to do the MJ again, so i've been doing it without - so far so good. I am managing to eat less than 1200 healthy calories a day and don't feel all that hungry. I have to go at it hard, cold turkey style rather than ease into it.

I am certain that pre MJ i would not have been able to do this, so hopefully have some lasting effects in terms of the hunger hormone!

Pills really don’t seem to be doing anything so far other than slowing down my digestion. I’m making sure that i’m taking them correctly, very odd.

Also been told that because i’m on Levothyroxin that I need to have blood tests every 8 weeks.. The whole point of being on the tablets was to avoid needles…

the effect is more subtle than people realise. It's not really intended to stop you wanting to eat anything ever, it's more just to reduce cravings and appetite slightly in order to put you into deficit. I can only sort of feel it when i get side effects, which really do make you want to not eat at all and can result in significant weight loss progress, but it's intended to be something to avoid i think.

I’m getting severe nausea during the middle of the night (3am for the past 2 nights). Rennie has worked (almost immediately) but surely this isn’t the way forward forever.

i don't think GLP-1s can cause acid reflux as such, but i guess changed eating patterns can surface something that was already there? I sometimes get what you're saying but I've got a hiatus hernia.

I used to suffer really badly with acid reflux and then i changed my diet (removed bread mainly) and it stopped. Since jabbing its back.

I started back on Mounjaro 2.5mg four weeks ago and came to post exactly this. Anything other than water and natural yogurt and I get terrible heart burn. I’m down 4.5kg in that time and my diet is pretty good, other than a digestive biscuit and a cup of tea twice a day I have been pretty strict.

I've mentioned getting acid reflux from time-to-time as well. My guess is that it's do with MJ slowing down the whole digestive process and food sticking around in your stomach a bit longer. Certain foods probably tend to cause more reflux than others as the stomach acid does it thing.

I've found it tolerable and with the way the weight's coming down, I'll definitely take that and live with the side-effect.

So, I need to lose a couple of stone to get me just into healthy. Lots of family crap going on at the moment which is making me comfort eat, especially in the evenings.

Prices seem to have come down and I favour the pills.

Any recommendations for a supplier?

I’ve used MedExpress and they’ve been fine.

Started the pills today, not sure coincidence or not but got severe gastro issues which arrived around lunchtime…

Had very few symptoms with the jabs apart from fatigue, so we’ll see how the next few days go!
