what is your typical day of eating?
Breakfast is typically natural yoghurt with fresh fruit.

Between meals, I'll usually have a cup of tea with one or two digestive biscuits, twice a day.

Lunch is generally grilled chicken with salad, sometimes accompanied by a small wholemeal pitta, or fresh fish with boiled vegetables. If I'm away from home, I'll usually take some cooked meat with me or pick up something meat-based while I'm out.

Dinner is predominantly meat-based. We've been barbecuing quite a lot recently, usually serving it with salad and occasionally some potatoes. We're fortunate to live beside a farm shop that rears and sells its own meat. It's not the cheapest, but the quality is exceptional. As an added bonus, every Friday a neighbour, who happens to be a fisherman, supplies us with fresh fish.

I also drink water with everything and always have a hydro flask with me, whether I’m in the car or walking the dog. Takeaways are a rare occurrence. Seven weeks back on track and 8 kilos down.

A few months in now.

Did two months on the 2.5mg monjaro and it worked very well. Decided to go up to 5mg to see the difference. Have done two jabs so far and i feel like its working less well than the 2.5mg? I would say it feels like its having zero effect, why would that be?

Dont know but I have had similar. Suspect body getting used to it maybe?

Early on when I was on 2.5 I couldn't finish most meals. Now on 7.5 and feel more hungry and feel like I am eating more.

I honestly felt no difference between 2.5 all the way to 10mg. Obviously the 2.5 will have the biggest 'hit', like any drug taken for the first time, but I have never been 'shut down' like many report.

I'm finding it tough without any treatment and can feel some weight has returned. I'm hoping it might just be fluid but I'll know come Friday. It seems that an NHS prescription is further away than ever. It's so tempting to 'rob Peter to pay Paul' and order a new 2.5 MJ but if things go tits up and Peter doesn't get paid back. laugh What's worse is I've stuck with the. diet side of things, yet I'm pretty sure my weights creeping up.

i think the at the moment, a person would have to be in a pretty bad way to get it on the NHS, so not qualifying is a blessing in a way. If not diabetes related i think you'd need to have multiple obesity-related conditions AND be very overweight too. It's not really something to aim for.

Anyone using the wegovy tablets?

I'm 6'4" and-a-bit, have been between 13 and 15 stone most of my adult life but crept over 16 this year and 16 stone 3lb this morning. Trying to watch what i eat, row 2k every day, walk dogs twice a day but nothing is shifting it. Work (in my own home office) 9-10 hours a day and spending evenings/weekends in my shed working on cars so there's some physical activity but obviously not enough frown

The tablets seem an easy option, no faff, just pop one every morning first thing.
What age are you? It’s a huge factor in weight and BMI as you get older. But at 6’ 4” I don’t think you should be overly concerned.

Yeah, I know, BMI is well into overweight but a fair way off obese. It’s just pissing me off!

On 7.2mg Wegovy HD. Just had the worst night ever after 5 pints and a curry. My first curry for a year and more than I usually drink in one session.
Side effects started last week after six weeks.
Can’t be more than five steps away from the toilet.

Have previously been on Mounjaro 12.5mg with zero side effects.
This is awful. Going back to Mounjaro!

Having consumed 5 pints and a curry I'd be questioning the effectivness of the 7.2mg Wegovy dose. I struggle to drink 1 pint on MJ.

My wife has been doing crossfit for quiet a while now. She can do 20 pull ups, handstand press ups, run without stopping for longer than I can concentrate and still her BMI is in the overweight category because she's only 5ft2. There's not an ounce of fat on her. So I wouldn't worry about BMI.

I think it becomes more about how you look and feel using weight as a reference point to ensure that it's going the correct way. I'm not a 'jabber' but have lost a lot of weight by putting my body into the same sort of deficit as those that do will be doing and it's important to keep tabs on the muscle loss so rapidly decreasing number, IMO, shouldn't be what you are chasing anyway.

Much rather chase the inches than the drop in BMI.

Yeah absolutely, i couldn't care less about BMI, would just prefer to be in the 14-15 stone range where i have been for 25 years

We were out all day yesterday at the Fleadh in Belfast. I had two Cokes, neither of which I could finish. (Pub bottle sizes) You need to get back on the Mounjaro, your current treatment isn’t working.
I can’t eat anything spicy at the moment. I get terrible indigestion.

BMI becomes inaccurate for very active or very muscly people, however for the most part, across a large majority of the population it's accurate. A person will know if they are doing crossfit or being fat though so they will definitely know whether it applies to them.

I'm sure I saw an advert saying they do bmi of 25+ now. I think most now ask for a video and photo of scales etc. Not sure how they know you're reporting your height correctly which obviously affects the BMI calc...whistle

Re BMI generally, I am 6'1" and now 83.8kg (11kg down) which puts me at 24.5. That's at the top end of normal and I am skinny. If I'm in a teams meeting now, I am by far the skinniest person on camera (bro science metric wink )

If I were to be at the bottom of the 'normal' BMI range I would be 63.6kg. There is no way that weight for me could possibly be healthy.

It's not so much an aim. It's just frustration that I'm not deemed to have the correct comorbidity despite the impact my weight has on healing. Instead they're suggesting things like a 'wellness coach' or a course of Orlistat instead, neither of which are free to the NHS. I've been bombarded with ads for alternate treatments this week too. Thankfully I have a healthy distrust of these drugs and the reviews.

I would imagine it should be weighed against the deaths and other health issues caused or exacerbated by obesity.

I would wager that the vast majority of these deaths are from either pancreatitis or complications with it. It’s very easy to lose a vast amount of weight in a short space of time with these meds; pancreatitis is a risk, luckily mitigated by ensuring you’re eating enough and drinking enough water.
