16 months in on the 2.5mg MJ, coming up to 9 stone lost now. I think I've got one last dose and then I'm going to see how I get on without it.
That's a huge amount of weight - and something I guess you must have needed to do. I'm just curious about why you're coming off it?I listened to an interesting radio prog a month ago and the experts were saying that people coming off these drugs tend to put the weight back on.
Ive been off it for nearly 6 months now and lost a further 19lb, by changing my eating and drinking habits. Totally cut out beer and cheese, rarely have potatoes and bread. Also cut my food portions by a third and eat healthy food, but was never into junk food, so that was a bonus.
Forgot to add that I don't have sugar or milk either.

Everyone is different but for me the 2.5mg has been just right, at the start it reduced my appetite just enough that I was fuller quicker but I still wanted to eat. Along the way I've tried work with it, changed my diet from takeaways and junk food to much healthier meals and just generally making better choices with what I eat and the MJ has helped me do that. I still enjoy my food, I still gave the occasional takeaway but it's all within my calories for which I use Nutracheck to track. Not because I'm strict with it, some days I'm a little over some a little under but it means I'm accountable and if I put weight on at the end of the week I can look back and see whats happened.
I'm hoping those changes and habits will continue, I still want to drop a little more weight but I'm hoping I can keep up the slow but steady loss. I weigh myself daily, the chart here shows my average weekly loss since I started.

We'll see how it goes, hopefully I can keep going in the right direction, I'll update going forwards.
Roughly same boat PK, was 'on' for about 11 months but I went to 10mg which, retrospectively I should not have. None of the different doses seemed to have a markedly different effect on me. Almost 22st to jist over 14st, still want to hit 14st dead. Been off for about 6 weeks I think, maybe 4, weight still rhe same, not noticing any difference in appetite maybe because I was always bloody hungry on the drug!! Difference being I can put up with the hunger easier AND can see the difference doing so has made. I guess its the difference between here is what you could have won and here is what you HAVE won...Everyone is different but for me the 2.5mg has been just right, at the start it reduced my appetite just enough that I was fuller quicker but I still wanted to eat. I’ve been on the tablets a month. Started on 1.5mg and just gone to 4mg. A big difference, struggled to eat my dinner last night (not a good feeling tbh as I’d hardly eaten anything all day and then was uninterested after a few mouthfuls) I probably need to go more ‘little and often’ strategy

I was lucky in that I didn't have any real health issues but as I got older it would have undoubtably caused me issues eventually. I listened to an interesting radio prog a month ago and the experts were saying that people coming off these drugs tend to put the weight back on.
The drug is a means to an end and for me that end goal is to be able to control my eating and weight. While I'd never criticise someone else's decisions I don't want to be on it forever. As Mart says, the weight goes back on if you return to the poor diet choices, all the changes I mentioned will hopefully continue and I will hopefully drop a little more too!

People will put the weight back on if they go back to their old eating habits.

You're both giving me hope! I still get hungry on it, which I've always said it fine with me, should help me long term. Although I'm pleased with my progress I'm worried about 2 things, firstly, how easy it will be to maintain the same losses going forward, and if that is even something I should be attempting. And I'm concerned that I'll lose what little muscle I have, so I'm making a good effort to eat plenty of protein but definitely feel that I need to get back in the gym to keep on top of that.
Muscle especially in older age groups is really vital for long-term health, but you wouldn't build muscle from eating protein. You need to do strength training, however if you are also lossing weight at the time it becomes harder again. Just be mindful when you start strength training to go slow initially and avoid injury.it looks like now that orforglipron has been approved in the UK. Similar to the wegovy daily pill however it doesn't need to be taken on an empty stomach.
pretty sure i ready afew months back that this was seen as cheaper weight maintaining pill. although now its seen as an alternative weight loss pill to the wegovy one. It will be interesting to see the prices.

Ive hit a wall with my weight loss. I was onnthe jabs for a bit last year but stopped due to the cost. When I swapped to MJ I lost a kg a week.
Since March ive really struggled. I had lost 20kg (5kg whilst on MJ). Ive put 10kg back on.
My blood pressure is increasing (could be work related stress) and my legs are swollen in the evenings (side effects of blood pressure meds).
Im thinking of using these again. My blood pressure scares me.
The pills are cheaper, but are they better?

Despite everything I've put on 2kg or thereabouts. Obviously it doesn't undo my progress but I still feel like s
t. I think I just feel overwhelmed generally and I've been struggling around the situation with my youngest son. I can't even contact him. His birthday is coming up next month too.
Got some new wraps for my legs. They're bloody tight and it's like wearing a winter wet suit on my legs and feet, so great in the sun! Anyway, I'm just going to continue with managing on a day to day basis. I really want to lose more weight.

sounds like you have numerous worries that are probably driving your blood pressure, in addition to any additional weight contributing to it. You should probably go and see the docs i think.
Already done. Meds changed which should help with the leg swelling. And appointment booked for a couple of weeks. Weight is the issue though. 135kg is not healthy. On top of a stressful job (traffic cop), and although I'm moving to a new department in October its going to be a new type of stress.
Sorry to hear of the tribulations of others. For a balance for any newbies reading the thread I've been lucky with no side effects and a pretty consistent loss over the now 17 1/2 months I've been on MJ.Hit a loss of 10 and a half stone today (Wednesday is my jab and weigh day) so 1 and a half stone to go for my current goal of 12 stone total loss. I have been titrating down (got up to 12.5 max and did multiples of each pen on the way up) and now on 7.5 for next 2 pens (started one today) then a 5 and then a 2.5 and then off (I already have these 4 pens so not buying any more). My activity level (steps etc) ia high now and good food habits and portion sizes and having lost so much I feel much more energetic so a good multiplier effect. I will still be heavy by many's metrics but for me I'm happy to have given myself a real jump start re-vitalise and feel the good habits I am in should stand me in good stead when I am fully off.I effectively lost c2.5lbs a week in 2025 and 1.5lbs a week in 2026 so far, with last Christmas just a maintain for 3 weeks inbetween so I could indulge a little. Target should be hit well before the end of the year with jabs taking me into December.Seeing clients for annual reviews recently has been very motivating with some lovely comments when I turn up such as 'come in, but where is the rest of you' to quote one.It no doubt helps I didn't drink anyway so that is calories I know many struggle with that is a non issue for me.Keep the faith all, used as a tool alongside lifestyle changes this stuff really is a wonder.

Incredible weight loss, well done!
Seconded. Just a wee word of caution: be very careful about stopping any of these medications, and always speak to your doctor before doing so. I made that mistake last Christmas, initially intending to stop for just a week so I could indulge over the holidays. Unfortunately, that one week turned into six months.
I m fortunate to have an excellent medical team around me now, because things could have become very serious. We ve managed to arrest the decline and my blood results have returned to normal, but the whole experience was extremely sobering.

Did you get refeeding syndrome?I’ve just hit the 12 week mark, and have dropped 16.4kg in that time. Most of that was in the first 6 weeks and now I’m in a happy place of consistent smaller losses.
I’ve been very active in that time renovating a house we’re moving into next week. Once we’re in the plan is to join a gym for strength training.
Another 3kg sees me in the ‘healthy’ range. I’ll still be wobbly though so shaking off belly fats gonna take a bit more. I’m at the stage where people are asking if/how I’ve lost weight and I don’t like it. I always yo-yo’d due to medication and weight loss generally meant I was in a flare up and very sick. I’m not good at handling the questions. My hope is that I stay slimmer, it becomes my norm and then there’s no need to ask!

Did you get refeeding syndrome?I’m back on track, feeling much better mentally and physically, my blood’s have returned to normal levels again, but the decline is becoming more pronounced. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to stay ahead of it and it’s very, very tiring.
It’s taken a while, but the NHS has really made a difference. I’ve been using private healthcare for the last 25 years, but even they told me that I needed to get back into the public healthcare system.
Thanks, and definitely don't want it to be taken I'm giving any advice, just sharing my journey.Sorry to hear what you have been through TH, and I hope now everything goes well going forward.Well done BB, and dping new house DIY is a great way to get activity levels up - I've recently started insulating my garage and that is sweaty work in the recent heat.ETA no idea why my posts now don't show paragraph separation!
