I woke up this morning and made the decision......The cut is now officially done.
I've reached a point where my body is telling me that it's time....
I've given everything, especially these last 4+ months, training almost everyday, always to high level of intensity while always being hyper focused on my nutrition. The last few weeks have signalled a gradual decline in my endurance and recovery, so pushing my body further with such little fuel will not benefit me.
I will now start the slow reverse diet by carefully increasing my intake by 50-100 calories per week (mainly carbs) until it reaches my new maintenance, which, if done right will be around 2800-3000kcal. This, for my age will put me in great place for continued training and recovery.
I expect to lose another 2-4lb during this phase so my goal of abs is still on the table.
Thanks to all those that have championed me since I started 38kg ago....When you're deep in the throws of lifestyle change, words of encouragement, advice and support mean a lot, like added guide rails to keep going, so again, Thanks.

I'm thinking my next step will be a bit of buffing up, nothing crazy, I don't want to be really muscular, but I've got the muscle density of a toddler, so just a little more would be nice.
If you are starting new you will see changes quickly, just becareful to avoid injury. You don't even need to go to the gym, but you do need some structure. I use Peloton classes, and a small set of weights. I now enjoy strength work more than cardio, feeling the burn in your arms after a good session is quite addictive (literally).Mr Roper said:

I went out to Leeds with a friend today, and took my red shirt from the before pictures with me, so here’s what that looks like now, felt quite a shock seeing just how big it was on me. I actually bought a medium t-shirt out of curiosity and it fits! Though I prefer an L. Started at XL, but they were snug, and realistically I was probably an XXL in denial.
Carlove, amazing work! I've also kept a couple of my old tops for my after photos. I used to wear XXXL, and today I tried on a large T-shirt from Next , it just about fits. Once I lose the remaining weight, I think I'll end up the same as you, either a medium or a large. It's crazy to think about going from XXXL down to L/M! You and Mr Roper have also given me inspiration to post my before and after photos on this thread, probably in Feb next year.

What was the strategy?
Just a question for those that have now reached their goal weight. How did you decide what your goal weight was? Did you go by BMI, TDEE or just by look and feel and fit of clothes? It’s been 15 years since I managed to get to 12st 7lb but my PT has advised that I should be around 13st 5lb - 14st 2lb with muscle . I am going for 13st 5 lb as my target.
Im not at mine (80kg) and seem to have plateaud with a small belly amd love handles left at 84-5.
I picked my goal weight as this was where I was when at my fittest and healthiest in early 30s. I had been lighter, at 76kgs and ripped (six pack etc), but that was unsustainable even then. At 80kg you couldn't see abs, but I was muscular, had a 32 inch waist, and very capable of staying there with sustainable discipline.
Clearly, being older, that "easy to maintain" weight has changed to my current one. But I'd like to get down to where I was, and see if I can maintain. Right now I am muscular but with clothes off you see a bit of belly and love handles and waist is 33.
I eat clean, but don't calorie count, and drink sparingly. In those fays i ate whatever i wanted at 80kg, and drank way too much. I guess counting calories is needed to get to my goal, now.
Interestingly given my height, at 76kg I was deemed overweight by BMI. I really wasnt!

For me it's easily fitting in medium clothes, after once going up to 2XL and over 44" waist in suit trousers. Now I'm a 34". My lowest weight this year was 85kg but this isn't sustainable for me as it was during the hottest part of Summer and doing several mountains every weekend. Winter weight is currently 87.5kg and I'm 6'1, everything still fits fine but I've also been working on muscle so that's some of it. Been injured the last month hasn't helped either. Once the mountains are back on the plan, then weight will drop to about 86kg again.

Thanks, Harry. I’ve been thinking along the same lines, once I hit my goal weight, do I really want to push further to get completely ripped? I know I could do it, but I need to be realistic. Will I be able to maintain the level of weight training and cardio required to stay that lean, or should I aim for a weight that I’m happy with and can sustain long-term? I guess I’ll decide once I reach 85 kg and have a conversation with my PT about the next steps.I picked my goal weight as this was where I was when at my fittest and healthiest in early 30s. Mr R, for what its worth I reckon it has simply been a thoughtless throwaway comment and perhaps you are a little tetchy due to the cut? I'm afraid I don't buy the 'fat apologist' comments, it doesnt resonate with me or my experiences. Live and let live. If someone, anyone wants to make derogatory comments about anyone's appearance, sexuality, whatever, challenge them, don't assume they are a barometer for others. The irony of HH post above is not lost on me.
Could be, but if you think there isn't a fat-apologist vibe in this country, then you must be seeing a very different UK to me. It's rife and has been for a long time.Edited by biggbn on Friday 28th November 17:05
Someone looks thin, the media pour over it. Adele, Cheryl Cole, Peter Kay - loads of people openly criticised for being thin. Yet fatties are supported (You look beautiful.... etc). If fatties were given the same criticism as those who lose weight, they are vilified.
I've had the same thing myself rom my own family. My obsession brother with criticise me, tell me my low resting heart rate is has dangerous and worrying as his RHR of 85-90.

As promised here s a before and after having hit my target and losing 5 and a half stone.
I was going to blur my face for anonymity, but I carried so much weight in my face, I think it needs to stay. I do also have to admit, when I was at my biggest, I never, or very rarely went out drinking for fear of being judged, so there s no old photos of me in a bar.

I get a lot of comments on how much younger I look now, and I think I agree, I was 25 in the first photo, and 31 now.
I guess we also need the belly! The only image I have is from a dash cam still, so I recreated the after with another dash cam still, though note this was a couple of weeks before hitting my target weight.
