In the blink of an eye 2 months have passed since starting and I am down 13.9kg (2st 2lb in old money). The 100kg point continues to edge closer, I am hoping to dip under within 4 weeks or so. Clothes are now starting to fit nicely again, in fact today I have a "large" size shirt on for work, as opposed to the previous "extra large" - additionally the new belt my partner bought me for Christmas, now needs an extra hole putting in it.

I am reluctant to start buying new clothes just yet since my target is still 19kg away and that will make a huge difference again to my body shape. As I am now weighing just about every day one interesting figure is that on average I have lost 0.25kg per day, a quarter bag of flour or half can of baked beans....fascinating to consider how we can shed that weight.

In the interests of accountability and honesty, my diet has not been great this last week, although I have stayed under my calorie goal each day, there have been some bad food crept in which I will be looking to remove and get fully back on track in this next week. I had a friend over for a few days skiing, combined with travelling and eating out, basically it could have and will be better.

- Starting Weight - 118.4kg
- Week 1 - 115.4kg (-3kg)
- Week 2 - 113.4kg (-2kg)
- Week 3 - 112.4kg (-1kg)
- Week 4 - 110.5kg (-1.9kg)
- Week 5 - 109.6kg (-0.9kg)
- Week 6 - 107.3kg (-2.3kg)
- Week 7 - 106.0kg (-1.3kg)
- Week 8 - 104.5kg (-1.5kg)

Total Lost - 13.9kg or 30.6lb or 2st 2lb

Well done on breaking through the 2 stone mark.

I'm with you on the clothes front, my tops are fitting better however my jeans are too big and my belt needs a couple of extra holes, I don't want to go and buy some 34" in case I jinx everything!

Morning all. Doing this as well started at Xmas circa 104kg. Began diet / exercise 1st jan.

Yesterday 92.2kg so happy with that.

What I have done

Exercise:

10k plus steps a day (watch tv while walking round the kitchen)
Gym every day
100 press ups
1k jog on x trainer (shin pain so running is hard)

Food:

No sweets cake biscuits chocolate
No bread rice potatoes
No drink other than black tea / coffee and water

I eat everything else don't do portion control and if I want a treat i have naked bars or grenade bars.

Target is 5kg increments so next one is 90kg then 85kg. I am 178cms and I can still bench press 47.5kg dumbells so not aiming to be stick think but rather loose belly fat.

So far it's proving easy except for dreams about earing haribo

93kg still. Well, I say still but I've had a busy week and the weekend I spent digging up trees and bushes from the front and went on a few walks. Still only eating 1 meal a day but clothes are definitely looser and I even ordered t-shirts this week without thinking as I'm normally large but a medium would've done so sent them back. Chest is always an issue so need to find a decent fitting medium. The Under Armour ones work well but go bobbly quick. Fine for exercise though but are almost disposable. Keep seeing ads for True Classic T-Shirts and others. Any good? I'm assuming more chinese dropshipping again but reviews seem OK this time.

Food is low in the fridge so may do another 48hr fast soon. Then cut more carbs when I go back on. I'll eat some as life is too short, just not do half a loaf of bread like I used to in one sitting. Portions are naturally dropping too. Few times now I've made meals and I've got full quite quickly so not finished it. Dog is happy biglaugh

Clothes? I bought four pairs of shorts last year, over about six months. Some from a Sports Shop, some in TKMAXX. All size 'Medium'.

I've shifted about 5kg since last June. Now I'm finding the elasticated waistband is redundant, and I'm entirely reliant on tying them up with the laces.

Same thing with jeans. Several pairs of 32" trousers are kicking about in my wardrobe, but they're no use to me. I have them to thank for getting a grip of my weight and fitness, when they began to dig into my belly. I bought a couple of pairs of 30" jeans as weight came off, nothing expensive, Fat Face, Next sort of level. They're beginning to show signs of wear so I went shopping in M&S (I know, I know...) and tried on some 28" jeans. I could fasten them, but they were "somewhat restrictive" and I'd have no chance of using the pockets. Yet I can take off the 30" jeans without unbuttoning them.

The answer would seem to be a trip to the Levis store, or somewhere else that might stock a 29" pair, but the prices put me right off. I also need a new belt, or at least a new hole punching in the current one, as it's no longer creating a snug fit.

And yet, I'm reluctant to buy too much in smaller sizes for fear that I might put weight back on.

Out of curiosity, I tried my No.1 Dress Uniform on a month or so ago. I got the jacket buttoned up OK, but couldn't fasten the collar. It's still tailored for me as I was in 1991, when I was freshly skinny after the Gulf War and massively into sport.

Currently, weight still seems to be coming off. I saw 66.5kg on the scale this week. Briefly, but it was there in a crystal clear LCD display. If you'd have told me I'd get to 67.0kg last year, I'd have laughed you out of town. But here I am. Very nearly there. Exercise has helped. It certainly focuses my mind on the task at hand, even if the actual number of extra calories burned isn't all that high. As a long time Strava user, I'm trying to put something on my account everyday. Successfully so far. The few days I haven't run or cycled I have at least walked 5k per day. 9 weeks and 2 days of a "streak", and three of my four quickest 5k times have been set in the past 3 days. Gone are the days of pushing up my portion sizes, or having an extra pastie or slice of cake "because I've burned the calories already." Now I concentrate on what I actually need to fuel my activity and aid recovery. If I have a big meal, it's because I wanted to, and it isn't "cheating", it's just allowing myself to take a break from accountability for a few hours. I enjoyed a lovely roast dinner today. I'll probably be less disciplined this weekend, too. My son is visiting, so a curry on Thursday, Harvester on Friday, and another roast on Sunday are on the cards. I know it'll set me back a little, most probably. But I refuse to commit so fully to weight loss that I forget how to enjoy good food and good company.

Sooo, bit of a slip up at the weekend. Mrs C stayed at her friends Friday night and I ended up polishing off a case of beer... bugger. Not good with my own company!!

Had a couple Sat as well and a roast Sunday so overall not ideal.

Had a really decent gym session Monday as I finally got to actually have a day off in the week and not work overtime.

Weighed in today at 272.8lb so have put 2lb back on.

Going to smash the next week and a half diet and gym and see what I can do.

Really peeved at myself

Updating the tracker for the first time in a few weeks, and looking at the headline figures of losses, this certainly caught my eye! Well done, great progress. Very impressed. Your starting figure isn't too far off mine, so there's definitely hope for me...

116.9kg / 18st 5lbs for me this week, which is the lightest I've been since 2019. Clearing out a wardrobe full of clothes I haven't worn in years, pulled an XL hoodie out and thought - hmmmm. Tried it on and it fits perfectly. Two different work sites this week and people have said "you've lost weight", or "you're looking well". So that's positive. Want to get back onto keto properly, at the moment I'm doing OMAD and eating sensibly, but keto really works well for me. All breads and carbs removed from the freezer and fed to the chickens!

As a headline figure, at my very heaviest in the bad old days of lockdown I nudged 137.1kg on the scales, so I'm down 20kg from that shameful peak.

Dropped into the 92kg range this morning. Didn't expect it as this week has been all over the place. Was due to carry on a longer fast anyway from today so I'll do it and see how it goes. Need to find new t-shirts though if anyone can recommend some decent ones that aren't baggy cut. Everything I have now is too baggy. Even have trousers at 36" waist becoming a bit too loose. Never thought I'd say that.

Thankyou smile - There is always hope and the fact you are already 20kg down from your heaviest is a huge success.

Re. the comments, I am also at the point now - several colleagues at work yesterday asked how I had lost the weight so quickly. I am sure they don't believe me when I say for the majority of people it boils down to diet and exercise (even my own Daughter asked if I was using a weight loss jab - I am not).

Following this, I would like some decent fitting t-shirts soon. I was thinking ones from a gym brand might be a better cut but I am weary of longevity and quality.

Some of the Under Armour ones fit tidy but they don't last long. Always wait for sales for those.

Weighed in at 108.3kg or 17st 0.7 today, that is 5.4kg/ 12lbs down since 01/01/25.

I'm aiming for 2,000 calories a day which seems to be easier to achieve and stay consistent with albeit the weight loss is slower at 1-2lbs a week. Alcohol consumption seems to affect my weight a great deal, Guinness zero is my new friend!

Good luck everyone, there is some amazing progress on here and great for motivation!

Just updated my wiki entry. Weight loss has slowed down a bit as expected. 105kg down to 87 which is 18kg loss since beginning of December.

1kg down in last 2 weeks but I've started increasing my calorie intake a bit as I get towards my 80kg target.

OK, so I've updated the Wiki tracker this morning.

Starting weight on 1st January 2025 was 70.6kg

Target weight for the year was 67.0kg

Highest recorded weight this year was 71.1kg on 4th January 2025

Today's weight on the scale was 66.7kg

This week's average weight is 67.0kg dead-on.

So. I've successfully achieved my target weight well inside the first quarter of the year. Perhaps I wasn't being ambitious enough? But I'm comfortably inside the NHS 'healthy weight' range now. No longer in the 'overweight' category.

woohoo

I'm happier than I've been in over a decade, when I look in a mirror. I didn't think I'd ever lose this much weight. I imagined around the 70kg mark being my lower limit, but I've come to believe in the process, and can now accept that there is still room for a little more fat loss.

My diet habits have changed massively, aided by being more disciplined when food shopping. And, while exercise (mainly cycling) has always been a big part of my life, I've now become "one of them." Yup, that's right. I'm now bordering on evangelical about the benefits of parkrun in particualr, and running in general. Hopefully, these new diet and exercise habits are imprinted upon me, now. I'm certainly enjoying both. I've not had to cut anything completely out of my diet, and I've definitely not felt like I've "had to run" in order to undo any dietary slip-ups. I can allow myself a treat now and then, whether it's a takeaway or a cake, and still only take myself off for a run or a ride if I genuinely feel like I want to.

I won't be setting a lower revised target weight for the remainder of the year. I don't want this to become an unhealthy obsession. But I will continue to record my weight in my notebook, and if there is progress I will definitely update this thread and the Wiki tracker.

Good luck to all of you who are working on your own weight loss targets. It's inspiring, and informative, seeing all of your progress, and hearing which different methods and approaches work for different people...

clap

BMI figures are nuts. I weighed again this morning as I'm on fast and dipped into the 91kg range. Lightest I've seen in probably 10 years but still classed as overweight for BMI. For my height of 6'1 they reckon 81kg is ideal. I can't see me going that low. Have a smart scale and fat has been coming off steadily but I know this because clothes are a lot looser. Will be doing more weights and walking with the vest more to maintain muscle.

BMI figures really are nuts, I'm 6ft 4 and to get to a BMI of 25 which is the very top of a healthy weight I need to be 14st 8lb/92.5kg. I had meningitis in my 20's and was around that weight after a stay in hospital, it was not a good look!

Same height as me. I got down to 100kg in 2011ish. I looked ill at that weight, let along another 8kg! I'm not going that far again. 110kg would be my ideal weight I think.

Had a bit of a bad day yesterday when I got home and snacked. Think I'm coming down with a cold.

But a very good gym session today. Some cable rows, fill stacking the machine of about 80kg. Some incline bench press with dumbbells. 27.5kg in each arm (my best with dumbbells. 60kg barbell is my best overall) and some tricep stuff.

Scales after eating where 139kg so on target still.

Why does that make BMI nuts?
I’m 6’1 and 85kg and last year dipped down to 79kg as an experiment. I reckon 81-82kg is a good weight for this height (assuming not a huge muscle mass).

The lower end of "healthy" according to BMI is 57 kg or 9st which isn't realistic for anyone. A triathlete perhaps. Even If I got down to 82kg I'd look and feel awful. With body shape and current muscle mass I can't see ever going that low. I'd have to lose muscle too which I don't want to do as I hike and cycle. My aim is now 86-88kg and still usefully fit and strong, but even that seems unrealistic. Would be more sensible to say a certain fat percentage is healthy. For the last few years I'd get to 94kg as a lowest then plateau and eventually gain. Today dipping into the 91's is new territory for me. Maybe temporary again but we'll see.

I make the lower end of healthy to be 63.7kg or 10 stone. This does sound low but for someone with minimal muscle mass and low levels of activity make sense I guess.

Of course it’s just a guide but most people criticise it and don’t realise how much body fat they carry. Most people are also overweight. If you have low body fat % and a high BMI you’ll be extremely athletic/muscular and won’t be wanting to lose weight. In my experience, that is almost no-one.
