Go on then.

I read the 'health' forum but never post.

Recently moved to Dubai, stopped my usual running (used to take the dog out around cross country lanes, woodland etc in uk). Pretty soon got into an unhealthy lifestyle and put on about 5kg in 6-7 months.
Decided to sort it out before it got out of hand.

Never been big, but then I was carrying excess fat that I wanted to get rid off.

7 weeks ago decided to start eating well and gyming daily. Cut out bread/dairy etc, cut drinking right down (used to have a beer or two most evenings). No canned drinks no chocolate, more fruit and veg, mainly eating chicken breast/salmon/white fish) Anyway, I'm now down from 90kg to less than 82. I set the target as 82, and to be honest got there a little quicker than I thought I would.
I'm going to reset the target down to 78kg now. Focus on toning up now most of the weight has been shifted (still have some fat loss to go)

Quite enjoying the gym to be honest. Just doing 30 mins cardio and 20 mins weights on a daily basis.

I don't know how long I will keep it up for, but hopefully get to a decent weight and be able to maintain. My last week has been getting back into a more regular, sustainable diet, whole grain bread, some dairy etc.
I also allow myself a day or two a week 'cheating' I had a big curry and few beers the other night which was well needed.

Feeling a lot better, and noticeably slimmer - need to buy new clothes now!

Right, I'm back here as I've let myself go of late.

Earlier on in this thread, couple of years ago probably, I documented getting down from 18 stone to 11.5 stone.

Embarassingly I'm up to 14.5 stone now and I need to do something about it.

Watch this space!

I did wonder if you had kept it up, funnily enough. I still remember you posting that thread.

I am the same. I was about 14 stone, went down to 11 stone(ish), and now back up to 13 stone and feel right porky. All of this is without any muscle to speak of, hence the low weights!

I was told I started to look a bit gaunt when I got down to 11.5 and when I got back to 12.5 I was more than happy and felt most comfortable.

I want to get back down to 12.5 by Christmas.

I want to get my 32-inch waist back and put on some muscle. No idea what weight that would be, but I'll be giving it a go.

Chinese food tonight should help! hehe

I was a 32 incher, now those jeans and trousers simply don't fit. I'm a 34 now but I don't want that to increase anymore. It's a bit depressing, especially after seeing pictures of my most recent holiday.

Can I ask why and how you let yourself get back to that size?

Probably something to do with appearing on this thread and spending > £10 a pop

How tall are you? Unless you're comfortably into the 6's, you won't be gaunt (I have a vague recollection of pics you posted and can't recall anything other than normal), just natural overreaction from people who became used to looking at a fat lad.

I get that gaunt/lost too much crap from the olds at the moment. Low 6' and 180 lbs or so is hardly gonna die material, but they've become conditioned to seeing something rather more generous.

Duke - You're spot on.

I got pretty annoyed with hearing people say I looked too thin. It was just that it was a big difference, and people had become used to seeing me with a double chin! Never really ever been without one.

Funnily enough, the only photos both my parents have up of me is when I was slim!

There's the takeaway food element but also started a new job so staying away a lot, dinners in hotel bars, no time to exercise like I did. Too much time at motorway service stations etc.

After seeing some unsightly holiday photos of my good-self, I laid down the gauntlet to one of the personal trainers at my gym to see how feasible it would be to lose 3 stone in time for Christmas.

The suggestion was to go reduced carb, no potatoes, no pasta, no bread and limited rice.

I'm usually pretty healthy eating, just portion sizes too big, teamed with a sedentary lifestyle and a penchant for sweet things!

So 12 days ago I cut out the rubbish, and embarked on a high protein, reduced carb, moderate exercise lifestyle.

I feel better for it, am less tired, and so far my mass has reduced from 107kg to 103.5kg.

Normally I begin to level off on the weight loss after a couple of weeks, so at this point I will up my 20 mins swim 3-4 days a weeks to 30 mins.

I'm using My Fitness Pal to log/ record my food intake, and I think this along helps in disciplining oneself into avoiding the crap!

Target weight is 88kg

Robert

Thought I'd add myself to the list of PHat PHighters... been trying diets for years and some worked, but it all went straight back on when I tried coming off of it. Now working with the Nurse who has a 'Counter Weight' programme, mainly focusing on small goals and portion control, small steps to keep it off apparently! Has anyone else tried this?
