white for me ;-)

Next favourite the metallic grey.

Sorry not a fan of red, yellow or black.

Interesting thoughts...so what are good and bad colours?
I shouldn't have used the words good and bad as this is purely personal.

What's bad to me may well be good to someone else.

In my personal opinion:

Bad colours: velvet red and autumn gold

All other colours are ok and just come down to personal preference but I prefer vibrant colours and would be prepared to pay a premium as there are fewer of them like orange, yellow, red etc. and didnt want the less vibrant colours like silver, grey, amethyst, black, white, light blue etc

I also don't particularly like the red interior but again that's just my personal preference.

If you prefer less vibrant colours you will definately have more choice.

On autotrader out of 31 cars today there are 4 reds, 1 yellow and 1 blue. The rest are silver, white, black etc

I agree in part, but even if you dont have all the packs why would they be a 'Bargin' a 2+0 with sport pack and CR box would still be one heck of a machine clearly packs would make more of a premium but seriously do not 'add' huge value on 2nd hand cars

Mid 20's - 30's in two years may be reasonable as these are one heck of a performance car, MY 12 may be a bit more as there are less of them
I completely agree that a 2+0 with sport pack and CR box is one heck of a machine. My point is that that car is likely to be a few thousand pound less than the equivalent car with +2 premium sport and tech packs.

if you didn't want the packs and don't need back seats then you will pay less, thats a fact.

I happen to have a 4 year old so +2 is essential to me. I looked hard and long (almost 2 years) before purchasing mine and still had to compromise. I saw many cars advertised during that time and noticed that the cheaper cars (bargains) were the ones that were missing the packs or not plus 2s or high mileage or combination of all of the above.

Edit: if you want to see what I mean by compromise look here!:

haha, everyone is different. Red is my favourite colour interior! Also love the orange exterior, just not sure I could live with it on my drive, must be getting old..

Ha ha,

I had a MY12 white 7 series BMW for 2 years on my drive before buying the evora so I was done with a conservative car!

You're never too old! biggrin

12 months ago Westover had a silver over oyster LE car I looked at. It had 9k on it. They now have an identical spec and age car up for sale but with 14k on it. I suspect it is actually the same car. It is now £1k less than it was 12 months ago with 50% more mileage.

I bought mine in Jan and am seeing older cars with lesser spec for similar money as I paid, so I would say there is very little movement at present and if you bought we'll you could sell in 12 months time at little or no loss.

regarding comment on CR gearbox. I have driven both and my current Evora is long ratio. I believe it is only 4th, 5th and 6th it affects. On the motorway acceleration in 6th is obviously slower but the trade off is less noise and better economy. In cross country driving you will be in 2nd and 3rd most of the time if you are pushing on hence the box wont make a difference. I know the road testers suggested CR box but on my journey to work (going cross country, back on motorway) the long ratio box makes sense.

3rd is different as well. It's not a HUGE difference (at 6400rpm its about 93mph vs. 108mph), but as you go up the other gears it gets more significant - 5th on the CR is nearly the same length as 4th in the standard box. 6th on the CR is shorter than 5th.

I think you need to consider the merits and doownsides on an individual basis. If you are doing regular long journeys then the longer non sport box makes sense from a noise and economy perspective.

For me this makes sense and mine has the normal box.

The slight downside is that if overtaking on single carriageway roads you get a slower pick up ie if overtaking at 40 you will need to either start the overtake in 2nd and change up whilst overtaking or you'll get a lag as the revs build up into the rev range in 3rd. This is the only circumstance where I have found myself wanting the close ratio box.

Personally - if your only car or frequent motorway driving I'd go for the long box, if it is only used "spiritedly" then the close ratio box.

Another thought, as C43 said if having fun and you have the long box you often find yourself forgetting about 4th gear. Goodwood for me includes about an hours driving on 60mph twisty roads and as a consequence most of the journey is spent in 3rd. 60mph in 3rd is about 3500 rpm, so nicely in the sweetspot with a good range either side.

The depreciation curve is looking like the typical lotus one I think. Huge drop initially (like any car I guess) then flattens out quite nicely. I was offered 32k for mine trade in last year, and same again this year. Hoping for the same next year! Haha!

As for colours, I really like most of the colours. Chrome Orange is my personal favourite but it's very loud all the time, there is no hiding in it! An all Black Evora looks great. I really like sienna Brown, and Autumn Bronze.

Gearbox wise, I went for CR, but test drive both and didn't notice that much of a difference.. All down to personal choice

I read this thread when it started on Monday.

I test drove an Evora S a few days later.

I bought it today.

My man maths equation? I couldn't afford NOT to have that much fun in my life. biggrin

Makes sense to me... oh wait, I done the same last year so might not be the right person to opine!

What colour / spec did you go for? Also, see you have / had an RS4, interested to hear your comparisons and if you're replacing it with the Evora.

Have fun!
Chris

Ha! Congrats! I'd be interested to hear which spec you went for?

Also, were you considering an Evora anyways, was one on your radar?

The reason I ask is I believe the main reason they haven't sold well is due to the poor marketing, and lack of test drives done. Lotus should buy their showrooms next to Porsche.. biggrin

Jct 600 in Leeds virtually is!

I went To test drive this before the evora S but it had sold and was being collected as I arrived! Lol

I then drove this instead, amazingly quick (600bhp) but it just didnt do it for me:

As you know the rest is history.

All the following helped with the decision making and I don't regret the decision for a millisecond.

Didn't cost as much as the porsche.
4 years newer than the porsche
cheaper to maintain than the Porsche
Better looking IMO
Much rarer
more driver involved experience IMO

It's carbon grey with black leather. The dealer photos don't do a good job of showing how nice looking it is so I'll post some next weekend in this section of the forum, the only one they've taken that I kind of like is this one -

It's not really a car that can be compared to an RS4 as they really are wildly different beasts. For me the B7 is the greatest fast saloon ever made, I absolutely love them and would take one over any M car, but sadly in the end my car was plagued with a recurring fault that the so called RS specialist I bought it from was unable to remedy, seemingly I'm not allowed to talk about that according to pistonheads though. So in the end I sold it.

After the RS4 went my plan was to go the two car route, something practical that can do all the mundane miles for work and that I can sling my large Weimaraner in the back of, so those duties fell to a Saab estate which has been absolutely problem free despite the miles I've piled on it the last six months. Car two was to be the weekend fun car. My intention was actually to buy an Elise, not an Evora. In the last few weeks the more and more I read about the car and the countless videos I watched on youtube really pulled me toward the car as a possible purchase. None of that prepares you for having one sat in front of you though, there's just something absolutely stunning about the car in a real world setting. All it took was one test drive and I was sold, taking it round bends and roundabouts had me laughing like some mad Bond villain! They should probably rename the sport button as the "Please take my money Mr car salesman" button, the sound when you tear around with it on is fantastic. I should mention that within the last two years I've also owned a 911 Carrera 4s, not once did it put a grin on my face like the Evora did, massively excited about collecting it on Saturday.

Thread drift I know but ive had a Great Dane, Rottweiler and a blue Doberman.

Always fancied a Weimaraner and I've heard they are a bit of a handful!
