Good sleuthing.

Hmm... looks suspiciously like AU59DTO, recently sold by Derby Trade Cars. But that was advertised at £25,990 at 60K miles... colour and options match up but that would mean someone had put 9k miles on it in a couple of months! Could just be coincidence then.

and 7 owners. I'm not phased really by high numbers of pervious owners, but all the same I always twitch at high numbers! About 18 months average each tenure.

Not unusual with these though. Some are bought as long termers but many are bought for the experience and then you move on. I think it’s rare for an Evora to become “part of the family” like an Elise might, they’re a different sort of car.

When I bought mine the intention was one year of ownership with some specific goals such as my big euro trip. I ended up keeping it for 18 months. If I could personally have been able to justify it as second car instead of only car then it would have been longer.

This was mine, Derby trade put 60,000 in the ad, where as it had more like 68 and a bit.

Even though I had it a short time, lots of issues started appearing. The worry about what else would go wrong with it was taking over the enjoyment of the car.

I just hope he's got the problems sorted. Wouldn't want anyone else to get into trouble with it. Both door catches had failed, and were on back order from lotus according to Williams Automobiles with no date of when they would be back in. Squeaky AUX belt, knocking from the front right, and spanner illuminating for 30 seconds, and not convinced the AC was working. And the 2 rear tyre pressure sensors were non functioning.

I could have got them sorted, but I just didnt trust it anymore.

I purchased the Blue 59 plate at Derby cars smile Generally not in bad condition for the age and milage, but is now at Williams Automobiles having both windows sorted, drivers side window went doolally the second day I had it! And passenger one refused to drop and wise when opening and closing. The garage said they would pay though.

Sadly not long at all. I think I rushed into the purchase. Also realised with the child seat in, the other half couldn't sit in the front.. So the car would rarely be used.

Oh dear. A sad tale. I hope that it has been fixed up and is now in good shape, but the current seller having gone to a forum for help in setting a price doesn't bode well about how much they might know about the car they're trying to sell. frown

I do love that colour though. Really nice.

The price being asked seems somewhat optimistic for a commercial sale then. With no acknowledged issues it would probably be in about the right place for price, but with known issues? I'd factor an expensive trip to a main dealer (or other competent specialist) at thousands of discount. Maybe £20-21K given the risks?

Yeh agreed. To be fair to the seller he's took an average of what a few people have suggested and has disclosed the door lock issue. But it probably isn't the one I'd go for.. Even though I really like that colour scheme

Isn't the seller a trader? I would have thought he'd have an idea of resale value before buying it!

I did think he was going to list it at a lower price to be honest. I took it to Williams Automobiles before I sold it, they quoted £680 for the door catches, but then country guarantee it wasn't the regulators also..

There was lots of other niggling faults that will need addressing as well. I'm. Not convinced they have all been done since he bought the car off me, as its not been long, There was quite a nasty squeal from the AUX belt,

Aux belt isnt expensive.

Door locks are annoying, the MY12 ones are so much more reliable, I had to have both replaced on my 2010 car. For me one of the biggest issues with Lotus is parts. I was told 3-4 months for a bumper! You would have thought that would be something that was in stock being the sort of part that gets damaged as per its design purpose.

Its easier to get parts for my 20 year old Ferrari than it was for a 5 year old Lotus

That's the part that was most annoying. They could get one door catch in, but the other one was on back order, with no sign of when it would be back in! as the window kept getting stuck open, this was rather annoying!

James, sorry to hear that you had to sell it, am I right in thinking you've had an Evora before? I’m sure I saw something on your FB about a previous one.

Either way, it’s not nice to have to sell and lose a big chunk of money in a short period of time. I guess there’s a lesson here (that everyone can learn from) - do your research really thoroughly before buying and test everything, especially when buying privately, as some things are costly to fix, or the parts may not be available. Also, an unscrupulous trader may tell you everything is fine but it may not be. There are checklists and buying guides on the various forums for these cars. That said, it sounds like you checked a fair few things (I remember reading when you were buying it) and have been a bit unlucky.

Personally I wouldn’t buy this blue one from the trader that is selling it now, as he doesn’t seem to know anything about them. Doesn’t bode well and I suspect none of the issues that have arisen have been addressed properly.

If it was the right price and you didn’t need it as your daily drive, ie had time to sort the problems it could still be a good buy. Just not at the asking price at the moment.
