I thought that sold. I remember getting flack for saying it was overpriced…
I agree. That is a warrantied car, dealership price. Private sale… £36k?

FYI - Lotus have announced a car, Emira. But not a 2+2 so won't affect Evora prices in the short term. Butt Emira looks good, which suggests the future 2+2 should do well

not so sure *if* the pricing is as keen as suggested and options aren't required. Emira still has the rear bench and not so many actually use the +2, do they?
I'd say recent Evoras could be hit, older (cheaper) ones might hold firm with renewed interest in the brand. I do see `Elise & Exige prices rising though. Emira just confirms the death of mainstream lightweights.

It's priced that the Evora should still be able to hold its own.
It's not a rag top so the Elise should still some value too.
It looks like it's cleverly pitched between the Elise Exige Evora

I personally don't think £60k will be the price.

By the time you add options on you'll be looking at around £80k.

Imagine it gets past many wives gatekeeping, as fits the kids.

I think those that used the rear seats in an Evora for passengers were a small minority. For most, it was a nice additional area for luggage, which the Emira retains as you say. I also think the aesthetics are far less clumsy. As much as I loved my Evora, I think this new car is superb and could be a game changer for Lotus as a brand, which is a great thing. I wouldn't be concerned about residuals on the older models if the brand gains popularity as a whole, there will be a market for them, Personally I don't see values crashing and neither do I see them gaining due to purity; those who wanted the pure cars already had Lotus in their vision. It is for those who wanted more creature comforts that eschewed the cars who hopefully now might buy into the marque.

This is exactly why I’m considering the switch. How tight is it in the back of an evora 2+2?

If you look back, a pher posted a pic of him taking his teen daughters to the prom.

Probably same as 911, the smaller the rear passengers are, the better.

We have had 4 lanky adults squeezed into the back of a 911 and its far from comfortable, but do-able. I would imagine with small people its fine. Not sure I would say the same with an Evora. And getting in and out is reminiscent of a scene from Wolf of Wall Street.

If the driver isn't too tall it's pretty good although headroom is limited.
If the driver is tall forget it.

One kid moderate size for a 9 year old. He can sit behind his mother.

Right, anyone want an 18 year old 111s in exchange?

Edit; and I’m ignoring the cost of a clutch change.

Moderate size 9 year old should be fine. My very tall 7 year old was fine in the back without a car seat (she is just tall enough to not legally need one)

It seems to have aspects of all three models.

Can’t decide whether that means it will appeal to all 3 groups of existing customers, or none of them.

Lotus needed to appeal to a wider audience than their existing fan base. The car has received a phenomenal reaction globally and deposits are reported as having been flooded in and order books filled for years. Feedback from those who have seen the car at goodwood has only been positive.

Lotus were bought by so few historically that if the Emira appeals to all 3 groups or none, I don’t think the company would lose sleep. As it is, I am reading of a fair number of previous lotus owning sorts having placed deposits, from all models. That said, many moved from Elise/exige to Evora when that was introduced as a more grown up car etc. As you say, the Emira perhaps sits so somewhere between so could attract “up” or “down”. But as I say, it’s attracted the world and it’s dog so I don’t think it really matters as to whether existing fans buy into the car.

Yes, financially speaking a good decision by the looks of it.

A shame (potentially) from some existing customers point of view perhaps.

Brave to replace three models with one, but we’ll see what happens!

Remember though that two of those models were incredibly long in the tooth
