Yes in many cases you do need to reserve over the phone. I have missed a couple because i need to sell mine first.

If you are serious buyer, Aimee will call you when a car comes in.

Have had 3 911's and long test drives in Caymans (981). Great cars.

However found the Evora gave me more smiles per mile by far. They really get under your skin, great ride , great handing, great looks etc etc. Used mine as my company car and always felt special.

Evora is similar to 911 in feel of size, performance , but better ride, more feel in the steering and more mini Suoercar looks than the Porker in my humble opinion. I got asked if my 997 GT3 was a Boxster once lol.

This is the car I bought and sold via Lotus Silverstone.

MY12 cars have improved interiors.

A few cars on, I made the mistake of test driving the Evora 400 at Lotus Silverstone and picking this up next week, from same dealer . Nearly forgot how well they handle and ride, really are epic cars. Noise wise the 400 is best sound out side of a lambo/Ferrari ...it absolutely howls at 109db !!

Have always dealt with Aimee and Matt at Silverstone....get down there and drive one smile

If you want absolute maximum feel to the car, then also try an Exige V6 when down there. They are epic in a more raw manner, albeit only 2 seats.

Love the new white 400! I've always bought cars where the new new one 'isn't quite as good....' as the previous model so have had to move on to something else. Once the prices come down a bit though I think i'll be going S ---> 400. Although the S is so good I can't imagine what the 400 is like.

Is there any way to get the sound out of the S like the 400? It's essentially the same engine minus the charge cooling and various ECU tweeks isn't it? I love the sound when sports activated but i'd like that as 'standard' and louder when sport engaged.

I had close looks at the cayman 981's and they are a huge leap forward from the old one but just didn't excite me at all, whereas the Evora I walk away from and have to look back and pinch myself a bit about the previous drive...

The more I look at them the more I like the looks. There is something to really like about all derivatives. All the photos posted on this thread are lovely cars.

I'm drawn to louder colours - White, orange, yellow etc but I don't think I can afford to be too choosey. I saw a lovely black car in Bristol a few weeks ago - it looked quite sinister.

Cars I've been looking at / considering ..... And the reasons why I'm a little put off and keep thinking the Evora might be the best option for me.....

Have been using an 5.0 F-Type for a few weeks (it's gone now). Lovely car but big and heavy, totally dominated by the engine and transmission - it's a muscle car more than a sports car.

I drove another Nissan GT-R yesterday (mild tune). They're amazing machines, ugly as sin, very serious performance, I'm not sure it's enjoyable at 7 10ths. Almost too capable to enjoy on the road. Brilliantly engineered and special in its unique way.

DB9 Volante, a beautiful thing in its own right, definitely a tourer / cruiser but with a glorious engine and ... Just a really beautiful thing.

I'm so hopeful that the feel in an Evora makes it interesting to drive at 7 10ths as well as 10 10ths. I've found another S to have a look at, everything goes to plan and I might make a move on it this week.

Lots of cars are great at 8-10/10ths. Very few make you feel special at 4/10 , the Evora. Get ready to spend some money when you drive one wink

My carbon grey 63 plate SR IPS will be available form Silverstone's in about a week...with a month or two`s manufacture`s warranty, not that you`ll need it...if you are after an auto of course? I`ll be collecting my 400 Hethel edition...!
It`s a tough call though as to which is the best...the 400`s are better, but at a higher price, so £ for £ it is debateable. Generally the later cars have better fit and finish, and from 2012 onwards, there were a lot of small improvements...but they are subtle.

I just P/X'd my Evora S to move to a 991 S.

It was a fantastic car and carried my kids perfectly on the odd occasion I had to get them anywhere. 10 and 8 year olds. They did have to start straddling the front seats and my 10 year old who is fairly tall was only an inch from the roof.

Had many a great adventure in it and it definitely got a lot of attention. Nothing went wrong in the 3 years I owned it and I lost very little in depreciation so that may be a positive for you as prices haven't moved for a few years. The 400 is a different class interior wise and its 3inch pipes give it a fantastic sound as well.

For me personally the 991 was a league above the 400 interior wise, it has more legroom for the kids and it felt quicker than the 400. Average MPG was 16.7 on the Evora and I found that rear tyres lasted around 4000 miles only. Luckily they are pretty cheap on the 18/19 rims but the 2 year servicing of the porsche was another factor for my move away.

How different do they feel to drive?

Well you are all making me want one even more ! ..... Thank You !.... I think :-)

Everything makes sense about the comparisons to 400s and also to the 991 etc so thanks again for all of the feedback, very useful to hear how owners feel about them as opposed to the journalists.

I saw the private car in the classifieds, it looks a fine car but I'd need to see the colour in the flesh. I Like the sound of the car which will shortly be at Silverstone as well. If the car that I'm viewing tomorrow turns out not to be the one for me, I'll be trying to get to that one.

Have decided to try and be patient and keep looking for an Evora for a little while yet. I looked at a number of different cars over the weekend and on reflection, any of them would be a big compromise on what I want. So fingers crossed for tomorrow's car, and if not... I'm going to try to be patient.

There are many improvements (and some backwards steps) on the 400.

Interesting to see you say you did your tyres in 4000 miles on the Evora. My 400 has 5000 miles on it now and a tyre change is nowhere in sight.

Any final comments or thoughts from you Jayemm? For someone coming to an Evora as a fun / weekend car from a 996 Porsche ?

Hi there-after the link on here, have been looking at your videos on youtube, brilliant! Excellent for anyone considering the car but genuinely entertaining regardless. I too considered the R8 and some similar cars and good to see I wasn't the only one who felt the Evora was the better option. It still makes me grin every time I drive it, even if it's just down to the shops.

And...(apologies for the hijack here) do you or anyone else know if there is any way to get the 400 sound out of the S? It seems like it should just be exhaust changes? I had a stage 2 on my old exige which sounded like the Hulk gargling pit bull terriers and that was a 1.8, it would be great to get an exhaust which was as loud as the 'sport' mode as standard and a 400 level sound for sport on.

Tubular exhaust system is the answer.

I contacted Lotus motorsport directly and asked the question. I specifically asked if the 400 back box would fit the S1 Evora but they said no. The manifold would need changing as well. They recommended the Lotus Sport exhaust (why wouldn't they?) but I know that wouldn't do it. The 400 has 3inch pipes I believe.

I take it you have already removed the 3rd cat? That made a massive difference to me on my MY11 car.
