Hi Everyone,

I will be in the market for an evora in the next 12 months. However, I need to know if it will fit in my garage. Or, more importantly will I be able to get in and out of it if it does fit!
My garage is 2300mm wide. According to man maths I will be able to just about get in and out if I breath in and have the window down. Is my man maths correct? Does anyone keep an evora in a garage this size?
Many thanks,
Steve

It will fit, but you won't be able to get in/out of the car.

You'd need to line it up and roll it in.

First step, find out the width of Evora.
Second step, subtract width of Evora from width of garage.
Step 3, ???
Step 4, profit.

Not an Evora unfortunately, but - I store my e92 m3 in a single garage that is 2400mm wide. The e92 is apparently around 50mm narrower than an evora in terms of body width excluding mirrors. Getting in and out is certainly a squeeze, with the windows down, and I'm fairly slim. I have some carpet stuck to the sides to prevent damaging the door.
I can't imagine a car that's 50mm wider, fitting in a garage 100mm narrower and being able to comfortably get in and out without scuffing door cards, seat bolsters and the like.

From experience I can say that the only real way to find out is try it with an actual car, I did the maths and thought my current car would fit in my old garage, but I asked the dealer to come and try a car in the actual garage, and there was no way you could get out the car, so it was a no, well I actually moved house to get a bigger garage and then bought the car. hehe
So go speak to your nearest Lotus dealer or see if there is a friendly owner nearby. wink

I seem to remember a thread where someone parked on wheel dollies and pushed the car into a narrow garage but can't find it.

But this man wears a cap and can do it:

Remembering to measure the garage door too and not just the garage width.

Friend of mine had an issue with a tight garage too, think he ended up managing to get in at a slight enough angle that the driver can get out. He also had carpet by the door, where the driver side front and rear passenger bumper could potentially ding.

I don't know the answer - but could you put a side door into your garage? Have this open when driving in?

Just a thought as I know someone who did this for a Ford GT - which needed a huge amount of space, just for the door.

Yes, that's really possible in an Evora.

ever seen an Evora?

there is a engine between the driver and the boot so that wont work!

Id line it up and push it back in with a wooden baton bolted to the floor to stop it going too far back

The rear window might cause a few issues. wink

I was at Goodwood last weekend. There was a company there which would fit a slide-out rack for your single garage, so that your car would be pushed out or pulled into the garage on a rack with a hydraulic rack.

Was very cool, though I expect also quite expensive

This reminded me of something I seen the other week and totally forgot.

You know them rubber speed humps that are stupidly firm and high? Someone driving a 7 style car climbed out and pushed it over each one down the road.

My initial thought was......'will you be able to fit anything in that garage'.

We have an Evora 400 which is 1845mm wide and 1972mm with mirrors. With the mirrors folded in, I suspect that the widest point of the car is at the rear.

We also have a Civic Type R which is wider at 1878mm + mirrors, so I'm wondering how usable the garage would be for anything Focus size or above!!

If you can get something mid range in now, then I image you could get the Evora In.

Not sure how easy it would be to get in and out of, especially the original Evora with the wider/higher sills.

I had french doors fitted to the side of my garage and I had these lined up to where the car door opened into, similar to what that old boy does in that video above but without having to push it. Couldn't push my car in as the garage is at an angle and needed the car to be steered in.

EDIT: I've just seen Vernz reply. If the Evora is only 1845mm wide at the hips with mirrors folded in (assuming it has sticky-outy-hips) then I think you'l be fine. Internet says that a Porsche 997 is 1852mm. I had one of those and it fitted in mine (2400mm wide) no problem at all!

You'll also need to measure the width of the car door when the door is open to see if it has a big enough gap to slide out!

I reckon it'd work - have you got a brave mate who owns an Evora that will try it in your garage for you?

No, sorry, you're going to need an Exige Roadster instead so you can climb out! #manmaths

Never forget door length. Long coupe doors half the useable exit room compared to a four door car.
Many use the roll in method - with protective rubber everywhere!

My garage is about 2700mm, if I park my Elise central I still have room to get out with the roof on. I know an Evora is wider; however I think you need more space to get out of the Elise (with roof on).

If you park tight up on the passenger side you may be ok, worth asking on SELOC if anyone local has one to try in your garage before you buy though... or as said get an Exige and take the roof off (discounts now on the 410 I believe!).

Worth getting a rubber strip kit off ebay for door openings.
