Evora now or Emira later?

Who in their right mind would choose Evora at £70k with a better looking replacement on the horizon at the same money? Yes, you might be looking at overs for a period depending on how good the reviews are but £70k plus Evoras are already welded to the classifieds.

I don’t see it as the second choice when you can’t get an Emira either.

Of you need 4 seats - Evora

If you don’t, mad to pay >£60k for one when Emira will be the better car.

Either way, both great cars but buy the one that really works for you.

Yep. If you are looking for 2 seats than Emira and Evora are direct rivals and Emira wins out on looks both inside and out. But given that there are so few Evora for sale then I think dealers will try and hold out for that niche (within a niche) market that wants 4 seats. Add in the fact that an Evora is available now and has great residuals makes the arrival of the Emira not as impactful as some will hope. As an example - has the arrival of the new GT 4 R/S has a big impact on the value of the previous model? No.

But you can’t get adults into the rear of an Evora? The seats are only suitable for kids- if you could get a child seat in. It isn’t a 4 seat car in the way anything else is.

Interesting timing as I also decided to explore the evora again, but after seeing that a 2018 car is c. £65k which will be about the same price as a base Emira with the wheels and paint I’d want. Yes it will be 2.0, and an 18 month wait, but not matter how I do the man maths I can’t make the evora work.

Seriously considering putting a deposit on a Emira and keeping an eye open for a £50-55k evora…..

Exactly, what’s the point of the rear seats? The car offers no advantage over Emira and the latest Evora are priced to close to Emira to make sense. Something will give.

Useful luggage space. Only ever used it once for a rear seat passenger and it wasn't great. Getting in and out was impossible and mimicked the scene from Wolf of Wall street. That said, as a GT car, the luggage space was a big upside. I toured in my Exige and it was compromised for luggage as well as the general comfort to the point it was lads trips only as the Mrs wouldn't entertain the idea. I am hopeful the Emira proves a nice balance.

Not sure I really agree with most of this...and I certainly don`t see how chopping in my approx £65k worth of 2019 Evora GT410 Sport with useful luggage space/child seats (no use to me as we don`t have kiddies) 416hp and 1480kgs with full fuel with me in the car and with perfectly easy access in and out of the cabin is really worth the extra £15k+ for a slightly heavier, less powerful car based on virtually identical components and which will hopefully be built in far larger numbers, can be worth the extra i`d have to pay. Definitely agree the Emira is a better looking car and will have slightly improved chassis dynamics that a decent driver might notice on track but the Evora is a fantastic road going sports car and only equalled or marginally beaten by much more expensive machinery.
I would have gone for an Emira if they`d have brought out something like a 500hp V8 version with a suitable gearbox, and or a spider option but as it is and whilst there can be no doubt there will be improvements with the Emira over an Evora, they are not significant enough to justify the cost difference.
Granted there are a few Evora`s up for sale at silly asking prices which won`t sell...
Oh yes and a 4 cylinder engine just does not appeal to me...unless again they make a cooking 500hp version??

Quite, seats in the back if a kiddie wants a ride, otherwise it's just luggage space that happens to have seatbelts.

I'd never contemplate a 'journey' with an adult or two in the back of one. Comfier taking the bus.

If I were in the market I would go for a £50k Evora and put my name on the waiting list for an Emira

Ha - crazy market at the moment. Fortunately I can stick with my 410 Sport. I don't see the FE Emira as being a replacement for it as it as the 410 Sport is more track focused and with only circa 25 in the UK it is yet another 'niche within a niche' that the Emira doesn't really touch.

However a road version of the Emira GT4 hmmmm....

I swapped out my Evora a few years back for an AMG GTS.

When the Emira comes on line, I'll probably do the same with my GTS.

I loved the Evora as a driving car, but it never felt like a quality product. I'm hoping the Emira will be.

Yes the Evora does not feel high quality in terms of cabin touch points but you could argue that quality in the form of a reliable engine, double wishbone suspension all round, bilstein dampers, full underbody cover and 2 piece AP racing brakes is a sign of quality

I bought an Evora 400 back in January. My thinking is to run the Evora for 18 months to 2 years to see what happens with the Emira after FE's etc. Maybe nothing will change, maybe there will be a facelift or a GT4 version - no idea. In the meantime I'm happy with the Evora and interested as to how things pan out for the new Emira over the next 18 months or so.

I would like to think that Geely won't allow the build quality to be anything other than top quality. The finish on my past Loti has been average at best. I didn't mind when an Elise/Exige could be had for half the price of the competition but when you are fighting directly alongside a new Cayman or whatever it would pain me if the interior felt cheap and poorly fitted.
