I'd really like to try the seats in an Evora S pre 400 model, I've tried the later 400 and 410 (bucket option) didn't suit my back well. Felt really flat on the lower back/lumber support area.

I've heard various people say that the seats in the earlier car are a lot better.

Trouble is all backs are different. Mine loved the seats in my recently sold 996 and hated my 2019 MX5 ND so much I had to sell the car.

Would really appreciate the opportunity to sit in one without being a tyre kicker to someone trying to sell.

Also, if you're on the fence about selling your black early Evora S with lovely black and white interior.. and the seats turn out to be good. We can very likely come to some arrangement. I've been without a 'proper' car for almost two weeks now and I think the temperature of the ocean has risen a couple of degrees from my classifieds searching.

The seats are Recaro Sportser CS in the earlier cars.

Also fitted to a fair amount of cars around that era which might be easier to go find and try

That's really helpful to know thank you.

Do you know if they changed the seat rails in the later cars? I had wondered if it would be easier just to get some after market seats that suit and fit those, but didn't think it'd be easy to get custom rails for such a low volume car.

Perhaps I could go to a trade shop that sells Recarro and sit in a few.

They changed for the later cars as in 400 onwards

I think someone made some seat brackets to either lower the seats or tilt them back as they were poor - https://www.simplysportscars.com/shop/body-and-aer...

Seats are such a personal thing as you have found out

The Sportsters are fitted to many Megane RS 265/275s among others.

The Sparco seats fitted to the 400 are a huge step down.

I too like lumbar support so made a simple foam pad for my Evora buckets. That worked really well for me.

I never got around to canting them back after that with the brackets linked to. Worked well for me.

I went down this route with MX5 seats a few years ago and quickly found I'm not a good seat designer.

I know this is a red rag to a Lotus forum, but in that instance I did then do the NC500 as a passenger in a Porsche 996 and thought, why the heck am I wasting my time trying to fix this when the Porsche seats are perfect out of the box! I could sit for 8 hours hard driving and get out feeling fresh as a daisy. Where an hour in my foam hacked MX5 seat meant I had to go and lay flat for 20 mins.

Now though, I find myself again thinking there HAS to be a way I can own an Evora which is a great alternative to a 911 where the only limiting factor for me is the seat and my bloody back!

After many years of making and adjusting race seats, foam and expanding foam are my favourite things biggrin

Update: Bought an Evora S, it was worth it. The early seats are miles better for me and if you're reading this with your own seat questions, the 'Premium pack Sport' option seats have the same frame, but extra padding on the bolsters and seat base. It might not suit a larger boned human but for me it only improved the seat further.

If anyone in future needs to try an Evora S seat in the Midlands I will happily take the excuse for getting it out of the garage smile

Lastly, the Emira seats are better than any Evora seat. Remind me of Mercedes AMG seats, but since the finance deals went up 50% the Evora looks a bargain right now.
