im a resident here in spain but im goin back to buy a car in the uk. i can get insurance with european cover but would like to transfer it over to spanish plates. does anyone no the best people to go speak to in spanish or english in the costa blanca Benidorm area. Also the best place to buy headlights for the change over.
Speak to your Gestor, they should be able to do the paperwork for you. It will save you hours of queing at traffico. But you'll have to take it for inspection by the engineer at the local ITV station.
Headlights depends on what they are? If they're just the round sealed beam units, then take yours to a local motor factors, and see if they can order them in for you.
You'll have to swap your fog and reversing lights over too, if they're fitted.

To register your car in Spain will depend on the value of the car, what you will need to do is have a receipt either actual or have a genuine one made up with a much lesser value on it.
I have just registered two vehicles here and they cost me €1800 each including the engineers measurement report,ITV,and plates, that is on Ibiza which is more expensive than the peninsular for some unknown reason.
Before I have registered the cars on the peninsular when living there and it is much cheaper and easier than Catalunya, which is a pain in the arse.
Cheapest place for me was in Galicia when I lived there.
Some Gestors will do a lot of the leg work for you if you cannot speak Spanish but it will cost you more, I do my own.
However the car is registered on the log book if that it true then that is it and how it will be registered, anything dodgy and you will have a problem.

Interesting point about Galicia KT! My Wife's Gallega, maybe I'll trailer the caterham up there when it's done!

The people are absolutely fantastic and it's also very cheap to live up there.
As you say some of the best roads in Spain and virtually all to yourself.
Its only downside is the weather but if you live down Sanxenxo its pretty good out there towards O'Cobe.
We may move back up there in a couple of years it has a fiesta in a different part of Galicia every week of the year and more besides.
But it was pretty good transferring car regs
