I regularly read the betting sections in the Sun and Mirror newspapers. I dont bet them religously, but sometimes i'll have a couple of quid on the longshots.

So todays likely longshot is Darren Ambrose to score first tonight against Man U 25/1. Read that and thought, nah, no chance. I'll do an acca on the Euroopa league instead.

So i'm here screaming for a Spurs goal to complete a 5 timer, Just as the Spurs goal is ruled out, I scroll down Livescore.com and see that Ambrose has scored first...

Absolutly sick at the moment. Same thing happened when the Sun had tipped Yaya Toure at 10/1 against Villareal a few weeks ago...

Gutted furious

Well I've started looking in to what to go for this week and at the moment I have a likely one...
Southend v Oldham ---> Oldham to win scoring 3 or more

Got to find the odds on this one but Oldham seem to like scoring 3 this season and Southend would match their unbeaten record if they get a result this weekend so the chances of a slip up are high!

Any other tips for me to shove a few on an accumulator?

It's ok he should be able to relax, safe in the knowledge that he won't have to deal with that £1m by around 1.15pm wink

hehe It is often the case in football... more often than you'd think! I've lost count of the number of times I've seen the favourite get slaughtered by an underdog. It's quite funny.

Somethign like top of the table Southampton being beaten by Doncaster who have only once once at home all season?

Yeah something like that would do it!

On a brighter note the scond bet is going well - just need Boro to beat Bristol tonight......

Mmm. I noticed that game. Also notice things didn't go to plan for West Ham and QPR!

92nd minute winner for Boro ensured me a win of 68 quid!

Which is nice.

Well done you, Watford let me down...

61 quid it would have been too - ffs.

Might start betting on away doubles, seems a bit more likely..

ETA - Watford, not West Ham..

I lost both of mine this weekend, Oldham, Southampton and West Ham messed them up for me.

I'm not going for the mid week ones, Euro football is about as random as the FA cup! Although as a Wrexham supporter this does have it's upsides.

I rarely go for midweek ones either - but seeing as I was in the Bookies collecting my winnings.....

Barcelona
Oldham
Preston
Annan
Brentford
Hull

Pays at 25/1

Whihc to be honest aren't great odds - I thought the return might be slightly higher on these selections. Ah well.

I find midweek ones easier to predict than the premiership! The last champions league games paid out.

Still, I could do with Liverpool winning tonight, as they're on two of my coupons!

Dan - noticed you always bet on Annan, something I should know? hehe

ETA - Which bookies do you lot use? William Hill here as I like the 'sections' forms they do.

William Hill - again I like the sections sheet they do - and its the most local.

Although I'm not adverse to calling in at Ladbrokes.

I do like betting on Annan - infact I quite like betting on Scottish football - the standard is alot lower, the difference in a team at the top of the Scottish 3rd divsion and one at the bottom I always find is alot greater than in the equivelant English leagues.

A few seasons ago - Gretna were on my form almost every week - Annan have replaced them.

They've only been professional for a few years now (2008 season i think)but have already been to the semi finals of the Scottish cup twice, and have lost out on promotion in the last two seasons in the play offs. I just get the feeling they are a little better than the teams around them. (Saying that they lost last week)

annan and alloa burst my coupon this week!

I agree with the above statement, due to supporting falkirk ive seen alot of division two and three teams through friendlys and various cup games. 9/10 I always get my division two are three picks right as you say there is a great gulf between top and bottom teams.

However anyone who is going to bet on scottish division one choose wisely. The league is the tightest ive seen in years (bar county). choosing results in that league is a bit of a minefield. One thing to take into account when betting in scottish league football is the distance a team has to travel to play their next home game. Most if not all scottish lower division teams cant afford to spend the night in places 3-4 hours away and as a result the scorelines reflect this!

As a general rule of thumb if its for example elgin v annan or peterhead v alloa I stay clear of these games, 4 hours in a bus full of players who have been working all week, training plus a few drinks the night before = coupon burster.
