Genuine question, enough for what? Do you hope to be winning the league or at least challenging, or top 4?
At least challenging, and enough for some sort of silverware.
Oh of course to end that MASSIVE wait for a trophy. biggrin

Always liked Podolski since seeing him in a world cup, good signing. Glad to see him in the PL.

hehe

The trophy thing doesn't bother me all too much, no team has a divine right as they say, it's all how good you are on the day and perhaps a bit of luck/timing in matches.

The thing I'd really like to see is us not embarrasing ourselves in some way or another several times a season!

I don't think that's avoidable, we all have our embarrassing games. 1-6 for us (united v city), 8-2 for arsenal, and every single game for Spurs because they're Spurs

True.

There will always be fk ups.

But the 4-4 debacle last season was (recent years) pure Arsenal. hehe

I think weather or not they keep RVP will determine the ambition for Arsenal next season
yes

RVP has made it pretty clear he's waiting to see who we sign before he decides. That gives me some confidence he'll stay.

I'm much more certain he will compared to Fabregas last year.
Yes. The look on Fabregas's face when we lot the Carling Cup final was that of someone who had checked out and was fed up of seeing schoolboy errors.

Signing Podoloski is a massive step in the right direction for me especially as he can play wide or up front. It's not enough to turn the club into genuine title challangers but it's a step in the right direction...Arsenal have got what I think are 15 or 16 genuine first team players now...I think that number needs to be closer to 20 with the like of Jenkinson,Frimpong,Coquelin being in the 25 who could/can grow into first choice players over time. The biggest weakness is between the sticks for me....if Scezzer is injured the options are poor.

Agreed. If we can make a push at least and bring in some more quality that'll be a start for a good run over the coming seasons, at least on paper.

With the goalkeeper situation; it's hard to find a Wenger model goalie. A youngster with promise yet existing talent that is happy to warm the bench for a bit.

Perhaps an older one would be better, it'd certainly be easier. Craig Gordon at Sunderland is looking at a pay cut apparently, perhaps we should match his wages and bring him in?

Word is Podolski was signed for £11m plus add on's for trophies won at Arsenal, bringing the total cost to £11m.

I've banged on about Craig Gordon for ages. He has a good track record with experience in Europe and International level and hasn't let club or country down. I know he's lost his way a bit with injuries but given the monies that have been wasted elsewhere he'd defo be worth a punt in my book. I'd certainly feel a lot happier watching him between the sticks than either the Spanish Waiter or Flappyanski.

Almunia is out of contract in the summer and Mannone is up for sale. So they need to buy at least 1 keeper.

I think someone like Craig Gordon would be a good shout...and I think they will go with experience. They already have another "young promising" keeper http://www.arsenal.com/reserves-youth/players/dami... he's apparently very highly rated.

CL and PL victory.

If we finish 3rd with the squad and injuries we have had this season I can see no reason why we will not be challenging for the PL next year with those additions and more luck with injuries. As for the CL, if Chelsea can get to the final Arsenal certainly can next year.

Richards on the bench for City tonight.

I would like to see us sign him over the summer. I think I remember reading a few years ago that he is a gooner. Just the kind of player we need. Versatile defender and is quality IMHO.

I think you may struggle paying his wages, he's probably on 200k a week at the moment.

Yup, and every money grabbin wee scensorede will be off that they go after too. Difficult to blame the players but doesn't make me hate them (Na$ri, Clichy and Diddy to name a few) any less. Just the Chavs MkII.

There's no way Richards will be on anything like that money....he's come through the system. My guess is he's on £100k tops. He signed a new contract in 2011 by which time City were very established they simply wouldn't have needed to pay him that much more....he was probably on £60k before that is he was very, very lucky. Cahill went to Chelsea and I think his wages were reported to be £80k...and that's a player of similar stature at the end of his contract so his wages would have been inflated by the low transfer fee.

Good player, but I'd rate Sagna above him. It's no coincidence that our run of good form started on his return to the team. Theo is a different player with Sagna behind him.

I'd like to see us sign a good centre back and some defensive midfield cover, plus a creative midfielder. It's now a case of getting in and signing people before the Euros, as after that prices will no doubt be inflated.

Probably us, but with your game in hand and our record of slipping when we need not to, you're still in with a fair chance.
