I would like to hear concrete news on signings next week. The window opens on Monday and we've announced nothing yet. Either deals have been concluded but not yet announced or once again we find ourselves behind the curve as the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City have already made significant additions to their squads.
I don't know why we have to suffer like this but it's the same old same old. Remember pictures of Sagna in his Arsenal strip were in the press before the club had said anything and it wasn't announced for another 2 or 3 days. So annoying.

Agree though that it'd be good to see something announced next week.

I hope Rooney isn't true, he's best years are behind him.

Saying that, I'd love for him to come, score a bucket load of goals and win the championship for us hehe

Wishful thinking, I'd rather Fellani personally.

The club just do not learn at all. Now more than ever they need the fans onside early. They should have moved heaven and earth to ensure a major deal was wrapped up and announced early, this would give not only the fans cause for optimism but also the players already at the club.

The highest ticket prices in the PL, 8 years without silverware and an increasingly disillusioned fan base. The club are not doing enough by any means. Gazidis needs to stop waving his wallet around and actually spend the money, talk is cheap!

I don't agree Rooneys best years are behind him. I just think he's gone stale at United and needs a new challenge personally, however I would be extremely surprised if he sign for us.

Accoring to Sky Bet Arsenal are favourites to sign Rooney, Fellaini and Cesar and they've stopped taking bets on Higuain.

Makes a change from random French Ligue 1 players you've never heard of.

100%, they seem to like to do things "properly" So hopefully that means next week. It seems so far the only deal that has been done is the young Franchise striker Yaya Sonogo. Liverpool have certainly got on with it. They really need the players signed before they go on tour which I think is in a couple of weeks. When you think about how close CL qualification has been these last few years dropping points at the start of the season because te squad is in flux has nearly beenassively expensive.

I do think Rooney's best years are definitely behind him. Before the last world cup he was considereded one of the best offensive players in the world and to many people was more or less just behind Ronaldo and Messi.

He's so far away from that level now, I don't think he will rediscover his best form. Seems to lack both the desire and fitness, plus he has developed a bad attitude and become a very petulant player.

To anyone questioning Higuain's record:

Real Madrid- 266 games- 122 goalds, 46 assists
Argentina- 32 games, 20 goalds, 9 assists

Speaks for itself really. Even as an 18 year old at River Plate, he managed to get 8 goals and 11 assists in just 19 games.

Still only 25 years old, should have many years at the top level ahead of him.

Shock - Arsenal involved in transfer activity!!

Don't get excited, Sunderland are signing Vito Mannone as a replacement for Simon Mignolet.

Agree with everything you said there apart from Rooney being one of the best offensive players in the world! He was considered that here but not sure anywhere else! I think the last world class British player was Lampardwhen he came second or third for the Balon d'Or.

I think that if Rooney was to play for a team who considered him their main man and everything was centred on him, then he would deliver the goods. His nose has been put out of joint at ManU with signings such as Tevez, Berbs and finally RVP. He's lost his start striker role, is being used as a utility player and appears to have lost interest.

The problem is that unless he is prepared to take a pretty massive pay cut, no team who could offer him that sort of star position/attention, will ever be able to afford him. The only clubs with the cash to match his wages already have plenty of star talent, so he'd be no better off than he is currently at ManU.

For what it's worth, I think if Rooney was lining up for Arsenal or indeed Spurs for that matter, it could rejuvenate him and I think he could have a stellar season. He hasn't lost his ability, only his desire. Citeh and Chelsea offer him no more opportunity than he gets at ManU and he'll never sign for Liverpool, so north London is his only realistic destination if he wants to stay in England. Neither clubs will pay his wages or anything like them.

I expect his will be another talent slowly wasting away as he struggles to reconcile how he could live on only £150k a week....

Sunderland are more than welcome to Mannone.

Im not too worried about the transfers just yet as we all know Arsenal dont announce anything till the player is registered, and that of course cant happen till Monday. Much longer after that then il start to be concerned.

Controversial but i think Rooneys best position could well be in midfield.

He had a few games for United there and always impressed me. He can certainly do a job up front, but for me there's better strikers out there.

Clearly Arsenal COULD pay his wages if they so desired but I don't think Wenger would want him.

shout Mart, this needs another volume fella - 500 pages are up.

I think one thing is certain it's Rooney or Higuain, no way can I see Wenger going after both, he might have a big budget but when you look at all in costs it doesn't go that far.

If Spurs sell Bale for £80 mil that buys two £20 mil pound players when you look at assumed wages of £150k on a 4yr contract. . Over 4 years £150k a week is £30 mil quid.

What is good is the progress getting rid of squad members sounds like Djourou is nearly done and so Mannone. That's probably £80k a week saved, Arshavin and Squillaci were another £150k. If they can out Bentdner and Chamakh that would be a good summer on the dead wood front.
