He's never played for any of the teams I follow, but, it seams as if the guys only point in being is to cause controversy.

Is there anyone out there who thinks he might actually be a posative influence on a team?

I mean, he's been captain at at least a couple of clubs (qpr & newcastle?), have you ever seen a performance where you thought he was outstanding (rather than merely being a controversial talking point)?

He can be really good.
Sometimes his reputation precedes him and he's booked / sent off for things simply because he's Joey Barton (there have been many other players who have been victims of this)

However, sometimes - like today - he's an absolute idiot.

I notice Carroll wasn't sent off but I'm sure Barton would have been for the same.

He's a hothead we all know but then Tevez did seem to start it today ... Barton just can't keep his cool though ...

On his day he's not the worst midefielder there is in the Prem - saw a game he played (can't remember who for, might have been Newcastle) v Wolves game where he got kicked all round the ground by the Wolves players and got no protection from the ref and didn't lose his head.

Ok, he retaliated and had to go but then kneeing Arguero and trying to headbutt Kompay was just mad ... and Mad Mario would have ripped his head off given the chance!

WHat do you doi with him? Sell him on as quickly as possible ... he's the bloody captain and his team needed him ON the field ...

I think QPR will sell him because he is just a liability, if Bolton had been a bit luckier QPR would have been relegated. He admitted on twitter that he was trying to in his words "take one of them with him" so i'd imagine he is in for a lengthy ban.

There's a clip of some of his antics.

Also a blog post from a fictional TV character

He signed on a free transfer. As long as they have some kind of "direpute" clause in his contract they should just bin him IMO. Technically I'd have thought the police could investigate what he did to Aguerro & if they did, with his record, it probably wouldn't go well!

i doubt he has a disrepute clause in his contract. his agent would never agree to something like that knowing what his client was like.

from what hughes has said he's not even condemned what he did let alone sack him.

I he was half as good as he thinks he is, he'd be better than Messi.

Very average footballer, with the biggest discrepancy between size of mouth and brain in the history of mankind.

If it weren't for football, he'd be sitting in a shop doorway with a dog on some string and a piece of cardboard saying "cold + hungree". Or in jail.

This.

Although I think he had potential to be doing a lot better than playing in a relegation-threatened team (and I mean no offence to QPR) but his attitude of thinking he is so much better than he is has spoilt his career IMO.

(although it was enormous fun watching him being booted all round Molineux)

So, Joey Barton, A Scouser who used to play for Man City, hands his former team-mates a massive advantage by getting sent off resulting in his former team winning the EPL (on goal difference).

Nothing strange about that at all.... scratchchin

Joey Barton, single handedly keeping everyone other than QPR fans absolutely entertained. He made my day yesterday for what it was worth smile

You seriously think Joey Barton has the brains to figure that out??? He's not bright enough to work that out.

Joey Barton is a liability, but he is also a character, a leader. He is someone who will stand up for himself and not roll over and die. Love him or loath him, he is an asset to a team (when he is on the field)

I do not really like him or his attitude, but he is the kind of player that Arsenal need. He is someone with balls, and Arsenal need bigger balls.

But he seems to see himself as some latterday Cantona with his 'weighty' pronouncements and 'thoughtful' interviews. I imagine he puts a few hundred ghouls on the gate. He's a car crash footballer.

He's a fantastic footballer. He wouldn't keep getting contracts if he wasn't. If he could only keep on the straight and narrow he'd have a good shot at international duty.

He's also very bright. I think he's clearly got a psychological problem. Perhaps he's bi-polar?

hehe I actually never thought of that

Interesting to hear that he's something arsenal need, I'm
Not entirely sure he's good enough for a "top four" team really?

If so many people hate him or think he's a bellend, why do so many follow him on ttter? I've stopped and I think perhaps it'd hurt him more if people stopped following him, than constantly calling him names.

People like him don't deserve the attention...
