I reckon you will have the same spend as you had last year, about 25-30 million. A new manager won't come in to a club like Liverpool without a transfer kitty of that sort of size, especially with that sort of expectation.
Let's hope they're not vetting the prospective managers on the least amount of transfer funds they'd settle for...Rafa - pick a fight in an empty room and given time will ps off the best of players
AVB - doesn't need time it seems to ps off his players - maybe Chelsea was just a bad fit.
Martinez - flavour of the month, talked up for beating relegation. Potential?
Maybe other names in the reckoning yet. Time will tell

Rafa would be my choice if they said look here is 50/60m sell a few then spend! If we give him 15/20m no good ! He is good at buying quality players, the others I'm not convinced!
VB - from what I can read there seems to be so much crap coming people on the inside at Chelsea with things he did and try to do! Yes he problems with older players but it seems there is more than that!
Rogers- pointless ruled himself out
Maybe gamble with Martinez based on his philosphy like Barca did with Pep ??

Rafa, picked a lot of fights, at a time when IMO they needed fighting - the stories I've hear about Purslow playing football manager with Liverpool & turning down Rafas requests - he touted Lucas around that summer for example. Plus the fights with the yanks go without saying. AVB - doesn't need time it seems to ps off his players - maybe Chelsea was just a bad fit.

He did piss of some players but he also got the best out of them, some of the best players still speak very highly of him. Gerrard, Torres etc all peaked under Rafa. Tactically brilliant.
Rafa gave me my best memories of football - 4-1 against Real Madrid, & Man Utd as well as the obvious.
However can't see it happening.
AVB, undoubtedly did a great job at Porto etc but there have been some disturbing stories from inside Chelsea - incredibly arrogant man some say.
I think AVB is the front runner.
Martinez - saved them from relegation yes, also got them in to it... Flavour of the month which makes me wary.

Fast running out of targets..... Who at the mirror knows the targets? People like De Boer who have ruled themselves out never actualy made the shortlist. Well, other than the one sky drew up....
I am pinning my hope on that chap that lives near Raja and runs the under 11s side, he hasn't ruled himself out has he?
I think all the chat of liverpool spending another 30m is crazy optimism. They spent big last year and had their worst performance in over a decade - no way the owners are going to shell out again.
if you were the boss, you would be saying "make do with the 30m worth of players from last year and we'll see about some new ones"

If they want to find the right man for the job, they are almost certainly going to have to offer him some funds. Baring in mind £15m doesn't go very far unless you're Newcastle, £30m maybe the minimum we need to spend.if you were the boss, you would be saying "make do with the 30m worth of players from last year and we'll see about some new ones"
Look at the number of big name managers who have been sacked by Chelsea. Surely that many good managers can't all have failed to get the tactics/strategy/formations right? It suggests to me that Chelsea as a club (probably the owner and the big players) are a nightmare to deal with, and none of those managers got a fair shot... Classic example of not giving managers enough time to exert their influence.
I think RDM did well because he just let the players get on with it and fed their egos. This clearly had a great short term affect but does he have what it takes to steer the club in the long term? - the latter meaning he will at some point have to force his own strategy on the players.
For this reason I wouldn't say that AVB being sacked by Chelsea suggests he can't do a job give the right support.

I think it's fair to say all the speculation about names at the moment is coming from the press, not the club.

The fans would soon get fed up with their defensive tactics every time they come up against someone decent , Think it's obvious that the old guard at Chelsea a running the team I think RDM did well because he just let the players get on with it and fed their egos. The players have to be happy with their manager & i feel AVB may not get the respect by some of the more senior pro's at liverpool , of course i could be wrong ,
Whom ever FSG decide to bring it will be a hard task fill the boots of your previous manager & be accepted by the players & fans

It is definitely an art - writing an article totally based on your own ideas and presenting it as fact...http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/li...
