The League 1 and 2 Thread
Discussion
Checking into this thread as a Bristol Rovers fan and ST holder. Not been the greatest start to a season for us despite having one of the best defences in the league, we don't have anyone who can score. We won 3-0 away at Blackpool in our last game though so hopefully the tide has turned.

Well, you did us over a few weeks ago, with a 2-0 win!Woeful, spineless, gutless performance this afternoon to lose 3-1 to Stockport County, two divisions lower than us.
Fair play to County, they wanted it more than we did which stings a little as we are a club that made our name by being a great FA Cup side. Well drilled, passed the ball around nicely and took their goals well.
We, on the other hand, were awful. Nothing left to play for this season except mid table mediocrity.

Stockport's 3rd goal against Glovers was a bit farcical for the goalie and defender.
Yep, you just want one of them to take control and smash the ball into the stands but neither of them do.We may only be saved from returning back to non-league by the fact that there are two teams (just) worse than us. Like it has been the last three seasons...

So our manager (Neil Ardley) and his assistant (Neil Cox) have both left, "by mutual agreement, with immediate effect"
The search begins.
Three managers bite the dust then after this weekend. Phil Brown (Swindon), Neil Ardley (AFCW) and John Askey (Shrewsbury); two of them won their Cup tie, the other one drew his.The search begins.
Yet we lose to a team two divisions below us and Way keeps his job. Football just is not right sometimes.
So, without wishing to sound like Rafa Benitez...
FACT - we have had five successive scraps against relegation, this season will be number six.
FACT - we have won two out of the last twelve games in all competitions, one of which was against West Ham under-23's in the Chuckle Brothers Trophy in a dead rubber game.
FACT - we have won two games at home since February 24th 2018, one of which was the above West Ham game.
FACT - Our crowds have gone from an average of 6,600 in our Championship season (or 4,400 the following year) to 2,900 last year and this season will be even less.
FACT - our last game was against Conference North Stockport County ten days ago and we were beaten 3-1 and outplayed. It was the first time in 80-odd years we were beaten at home by a side two divisions below us.
FACT - the manager Darren Way said earlier this season, if we don't make the playoffs, then we shouldn't be at the club.

FACT - yesterday, the club gave him a two year extension to his current deal meaning he will be at the club till June 2021. Arguably the most stupid decision my club has taken in the past fifty years. I've been following the club since I was three years old and I'm fifty now but this will be my last season going. I commentate for visually impaired people at home games and I've committed to be there this season but come 4th May, that will be it.
Gutted.
