Have been utterly blessed this weekend as was given three FA Cup ties to cover.

Started off with Weymouth v AFC Wimbledon on Saturday. Blowing a hoolie on the south coast, the Dons could count themselves a little fortunate to escape with a replay as the Terras fought & scrapped all the way. Dreadful in the League all season with only one win this campaign, they fully deserved IMO a second chance to reach the next round.

Yesterday afternoon, I covered Torquay United v Derby County. If you were going to try to explain to anyone what an FA Cup tie was all about it, I wouldn't bother and just sit them down in front of this game. A howling gale, boggy pitch in places, chucking it down with rain several times, a ludicrous red card, a half streaker, the big team coasting at two up and to cap it all, the home keeper comes up for a corner and causes havoc leading to the 90+ 5 equaliser that sparks a pitch invasion. I fking love football when it's like that!! hehe

Tonight, am off to Bracknell Town v Ipswich Town for the third part of the trilogy. It can't possibly better Parts 1 and 2 can it?

PS And as a Yeovil fan, have had the pleasure of meeting Sir Gary Johnson, Terry Skiverton, Paul Warne and Adam Virgo in the past couple of days so that makes it even better! cloud9

Time one is started? (Do we have enough League 1 fans on here to keep it running?)

With Portsmouth starting on -10 and currently only having 8 first team players, it surely means one of the relegation spots is filled.

I'm a Stevenage fan and I'd take any place above the bottom 4 right now. With the manager leaving in Feb, nearly all of the squad has now left too. We have a couple star players remaining and it does look like we've added some quality - but I think there has just been too much change to be successful this season - the club does however have a habit of destroying my doubts.
I was about to post bemoaning our (Pompey) awful showing losing at home to manager free fake Wimbledon, however the above has just reminded me it could be a lotttttt worse!

The last time we (Pompey) won at home in the league, we still had a Queen and Boris Johnson was Prime Minister.

Saturday's 0-2 defeat to the second from bottom MK Dons was as pathetic, shambolic and lacklustre display as I can remember. However, it's been coming, as you point out. I've been supportive of 'super' Danny Cowley until now but no longer. Dropping our best defender (Raggett) so that his fellow centre back can provide killer passes? WTF? Playing Koroma up front instead of, you know, an actual striker? Starting with Reeco Hackett?

Unless Cowley is sacked very soon, we'll be worrying about relegation rather than the play offs.

I've been highly supportive of him/them as well and placed blame more on the owners but time is or has fast run out for the Cowleys. I had such high hopes for them, they seemed the real deal and seemed to fit nicely at the club.
We're due a decent manager at some point.

Same here mate. Cowley said "give me three transfer windows" which he's now had, and we're no better - one win from the last eleven League 1 games is relegation form. I can see no improvement since the dull, dull days of Kenny Jackett.

As for our owners, I just don't get it. Why even bother with Pompey? They refuse to invest in the playing budget and seem content for us to drift along in League 1. They're billionaires, so we are loose change. What's the point from their perspective?

We'll have savoured the delights of League 1 for six years now, because we're not going up this season. There's only so long 17000+ people will turn up to watch us play Fleetwood, Cheltenham, Morecambe etc. etc.

That question is being asked more and more. It was originally rumoured to be a 'toy' for Eric, something him and Michael could have a common bond over. Thing is, Eric doesn't really seem to give a toss now, a few #pup tweets and that's about it for him. So I have no idea why they own us, they're never gonna make any money from a League One club and they don't seem to want to push much for going higher, they seem happy to just keep it ticking over.
But the thing is, as you say, a League One club ticking over isn't going to continue drawing 18k attendances year after year and the losses will get greater and greater as well as the budget getting smaller and smaller.
Yet on the other hand, he's stating he doesn't want to sell confused

I think he's bluffing and the first decent offer he gets he'll be off.

You may well be correct. Not least because much of what they've spent since acquisition is on fixed assets - the stadium and Roko for example. On sale, they would expect to recoup most of that expenditure. Meanwhile, they have no incentive to get us into the Championship since that wouldn't bring in much more money, but would entail a huge rise in the players' wage bill.

You could say the same about Argyle.

Little chance of extra revenue, or significant extra revenue in the Championship, but the difference is, Argyle have a fan as a Chairman who doesn't just view it as a business.

I'm sure we can all agree that the Championship is an absolute basket case of clubs living way beyond their means.

The problem with that is when things don't go so well and supporters start demanding new players, sack the manager! etc etc all easy when its not their money.
Unless he has an almost bottomless pit of money (ala the Brighton fan who owns them) then sooner or later things will come to a head.
even when we were fan owned some of the high net worth owners came under abuse for failing to do this or that.

Always the way.

Most fans th8nk rhe club only operates on a Saturday. And then only every other week! They have no idea how much is required to run a sports club, whether that be football, rugby, basketball or whatever. They just turn up each week and demand a win.

S’ok, you’re guaranteed a win on Boxing Day. We can’t defend for toffee and are in a run of about a dozen games where conceding a soft goal an eight year old would be embarrassed by is the norm. Up front we’re as good as anyone, at the back we’re Sunday league. It’ll probably be 4-5 or something ridiculous like that.

League One is again proving impossible to predict.

Ipswich lose at Wycombe despite having 71% of the ball and 20 shots...it's not unusual...a few teams have done it to us....peak Ipswich this season.

Plymouth seemingly invincible then drop points 4 games in a row allowing us to have a sniff of top.

Barnsley now look like they're really motoring and Wednesday are dangerous, picking up points without Bannan who'll be back soon (best player in the league by miles IMO).

Derby appear not to be the basket case we all hoped and Bolton are similarly putting a bit of consistency together.

Argyle just toying with you all.

As long as Wycombe suffer humiliation at regular intervals I'll be happy. You're probably a lovely bloke, but other than Franchise Utd you have the most hateful team, tactics and greasy haired manager ever. I don't even mind the Village Vegans in comparison. hehe
