Pathetic.
How can he be accountable for one of his players doing a horrendous back pass leading to a goal and Ward (I think) missing a sitter? It's a joke.
I watched the game yesterday and thought Palace looked pretty good!
He even missed some important players like Zaha and Sakho. How can he be accountable for one of his players doing a horrendous back pass leading to a goal and Ward (I think) missing a sitter? It's a joke.

I should quite like him for his work at Liverpool but honestly he just makes me angry every time I see him. Some predictably mixed comments following de Boer's sacking and Roy Hodgson's appointment.
De Boer was sacked not because of four goalless defeats but because of broken promises about how he was going to manage, apparently.
Roy's appointment is sensible for a club like ours, an admittance perhaps that de Boer was a mistake and a bad fit from the off, but he's a proven pedigree in club management at clubs like Palace, and a good fit. I wasn't particularly inspired at the announcement, but the longer it goes I think it will prove to be a good appointment. Let's hope so, because Brighton are coming for us in November

It's certainly looking grim at the moment, but Roy only had two training sessions, plus Sakho and Wilf are yet to come into the team. Three very tough games to come next, and likely zero points after eight games. But (Watford and Brighton fans especially) enjoy our bad spell while it lasts...
Well I am not sure whether I feel any sympathy towards Palace and the current predicament. Sacking a manager after only four games is, even for football still shocking.
Appointing Woy, well I think that is even worse.
Still as above, you were unlikely to get anything out of these games, but if you have 0 points after 8 games....
Realistically Palace are at a point where you need to win almost every home game now to have a chance of staying up.
I know it looks bad from outside, but if you patently make a mistake in appointing a manager who is completely wrong then better to fix it quickly and move on. It remains to be seen whether Roy Hodgson is a good fit (personally I think he is), but for a club like ours de Boer was never going to work for a year or more and we simply don't have that luxury. Parish (owner and chairman) was at fault for that, and the transfer window was mismanaged too. But when all's said and done we have a talented bunch of players (with a few exceptions, notably our goalkeeper who is a complete waste of space). What's needed is some stability, organisation, confidence, a goalkeeper and a spare striker, oh and maybe just a tiny, tiny, tiny piece of luck.
Hopefully we'll get it right soon but if we don't then relegation obviously beckons...

Surely it can only be a matter of time before a manager is sacked after 3 games, then 2 and finally one. When it becomes the norm to sack a new manager after 1 game, somebody will get the boot at half time in their first game and people will say "that's a disgrace, he should have been given the 2nd half to try and turn things around."Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
