The Official England Thread-The Team We All Support [Vol 2]
Discussion
I love the way that England tried playing under the radar this year compared to last few attempts where the entire country got too hyped up.
Silly big win against Panama and the entire country goes bananas.
1-0 nil tonight with doubts raised would counter that. Or 0-1 loss to get everyone's feet back on the ground. Or 0-0 and all bored to death!
I guess most people have seen this,

the counting your chickens bit, which I fall for everytime.
Go on lads! 0-0 and Gareth saying "workman like performance"

Plays full strength first team tonight, wins, goes out Monday with a knackered A team, couple of injuries, maybe a suspension and loses, and his name would be mud.
How hard is that to comprehend? Lose tonight with a b team and no harm done. Lose with your A team, they take a confidence knock and play again straight after the weekend.
There is no losing scenario tonight by playing a B team.

It simply doesn't work that way,.
We had three questions to ask today.
How can we bin Sterling and play a combo of RLC, Dele, and Kane up front. - can't do that now.
We needed to know if Rose would be better than Young as Left Back with the (pretty much) confirmed back 3 and strike force - can't answer that either.
What can Dier offer within the set up that has worked so far - can't answer that either.
So - when it comes to the knowckoiut stages - what have we learned?
the square root of fk all.

Irrelevant. We have to play the big teams at some stage.
I do understand that viewpoint but imo we need to keep winning. Lose tonight and you don't know how it will upset the squad.Plus I don't want to play Columbia.
eta to be serious though........how will it upset the squad if the full 1st team lost?
