Two of the greatest footballers of any era but I just can't grasp how anyone can think CR is the better overall footballer.

Exactly

He also held the all time premier league goal scoring record in his penultimate season and sold for a world record transfer fee.

Real didn’t buy a prospect they bought a genius.

If he were in the Prem now he’d be making teams look stupid.
From your lips to David Moyes ears, if only the dildo twins would give him the money, (doubt they could afford it).

Kind of agree, but Ronaldo has played in four different countries with differing styles of football and delivered on each stage.

Conversely, I can’t grasp how anyone can think LM is the better overall footballer...!

Two of the greatest ever I absolutely agree but CR has it all and is doing it all.

What can Messi do, that Ronaldo can’t? ...
What can Ronaldo do, that Messi can’t? - Perform at a world class level at 3 of the top leagues in the world. Win tournaments with (for) his national team against all odds. Jump 12ft in the air. Not take synthetic hormones to grow bigger/faster/stronger. Hold off lumbering English centre backs on a cold rainy Tuesday night in Stoke.

That's all well and good, and Ronaldo is a fantastic athlete and all that - but as a footballer, he's not even close.

If someone gave me a ticket to watch one of them in a game, it would take no time to decide - Messi every time.

11 goals in his last 11 Serie A appearances for Juventus. His obsession to score, win and be the best continues. The man is just on another level. Remember him being written of by many ‘experts’ not that long ago.
Stunning achievement yet again, his dedication is inspirational in comparison to some other footballers, Pogba springing to mind for instance.

Each to their own, I wouldn't say either is much better than the other. Both are amazing football players.

I wonder when Ronaldo will retire. He's still performing very well despite being what, 35 now?

Messi has done the business against the best teams in Europe. I think this other league stuff is really overrated. It's cool and shows he's adaptable (I actually think being away from where you know and settling into a new country is the harder part rather than the football) but I don't think it makes up for the gap between Ronaldo and Messi. The two greatest ever to kick a ball but Messi is still the better player.

The best of this generation but there would be other contenders from previous era's including
Pele
DiStefano
Puskas
Maradona

I'm in the Messi is the better of the 2 faction, but both are amazing and I would pay to watch either. Having lived in Barcelona and seen a few games, I may be biased towards Messi but when he has the ball, it is mesmerizing.

Goal number 100 & 101 tonight. Just 9 away from becoming the all time leading international goal scorer.
